Ordered several kitchen units from the Ikea store. After paying for them, we were told we had to collect them from a collection centre a mile down the road. After being kept waiting for ages, we were given several boxes. I counted the boxes and realised several items were missing. When I asked where the rest of our order was, they said they were out of stock, and they would contact us when they were available. They never contacted us, and it took several months of me phoning and writing letters of complaint before we finally received the items we had paid for. I will not be buying from Ikea again, and would definitely not recommend them.

“Driver Couldn't be bothered to find address”

Do NOT buy anything online for delivery. Waited in all morning, no driver arrived but we received a text stating our order had been delivered!! Phoned IKEA apparently Driver couldn't find address! IKEA has delivered to this address on numerous occasions so it sits on their sat nav system- just a lazy driver who couldn't be bothered on a Sunday to deliver. Heartbroken 4 years old no new bed etc., had arranged for her old cot bed to picked up this morning so no bed for 4 yrs old to sleep in tonight. IKEA could only deliver in 5 days time or maybe at a push tomorrow but IKEA couldn't definitely confirm that; I would have to wait a couple of hours for the next phone call....... We WILL NOT ever purchase from IKEA again. Off to buy a bed from John Lewis their customer service can never be faulted. They care about their customers.

“Ikea Lakeside Thurrock Store avoid buy at (BM or Wilko) ”

(In my own personal opinion or perception) the place is an absolute dump. *The staff non existent customer service I've never come across a set of rude, blasé' nonchalant assistants than this place. I used to have to go to Wembley which was the nearest store, when this place opened the staff were all nicey, nicey now they dont give two hoots. Their only concern is surrounding you at the tills to make sure you pay, with security that look like out of Camberwick green (I'm so scared). if I wanted to nick your goods I would go around the other way and just walk out of the entrance. *The food and the restaurants at 1720 hrs today the place looked like an earthquake, food everywhere staff milling around doing absolutely as little as possible. The Logan berry juice dispenser empty again ! I noticed the staff putting massive portions of fish on plates laughing and joking, then taking them out of the back kitchen doors. The food they served the customers slopped on the plate like food in the military out on exercise, (kids meal = 6 runner beans, 10 chips and a piece of fish that looked like 2 fish fingers stuck together £2). Absolute joke ! dirt. muck and filth all over the restaurant seating area and 1 lady cleaning a central curved carousel table, over and over again. "Obviously waiting for the night time cleaners to do most of the lackeying ? * Management where are they never see them and they certainly aren't about kicking backsides into work ? it's no wonder the place is so badly run. If this is the way they do things in Sweden which I know for a fact it surely cant be, then things have changed in the land of Volvo and Saab.

“Not a bad service”

I am surprised to be the first customer who is going to leave good review for the service received by this company, but I had ordered online new bed with a mattress as well as some other items for my bedroom, as we just have moved into a new address and so we wanted to furnish our master bedroom with new furniture, but everything was problemfree and what we delivered arrived on time and we like the quality of it.

“Worst experience of customer service I have ever had”

I ordered a light fitting on=line to be delivered at home, nine pound charge !! as my local store was 20 miles away-what a shambles !, upon completion I was informed that the payment transaction was complete but an acknowledgement could not be confirmed.I did not know if I had paid for it or not or even if the order was in place. On telephoning the 'customer service' I was informed that they were experiencing high call volumes and there was a wait of 20 minutes which turned out to be 45 minutes-disgusting.Upon receipt of goods which were very cheap looking for the fifty pounds i'd paid, I decided I wanted to return it.Yet another phone call I was not looking forward too, after 30 minutes waiting to speak to somebody I gave up ! So today i'm off to the store to return and I vow never to deal with this company again and that if there was a no score rating this company would have achieved it.

“Never any reply from customer service!!!”

My items were delivered but there was something missing, I emailed customer service 3 times and there was no reply at all. I had to pay another £9 delivery to get the missing part. Would avoid at all costs as the shelf we got ended up costing loads more than going to john lewis in the end and john lewis are much better quality.

“WORST ONLINE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER”

If you are every considering making an online purchase from IKEA - don't. By far the worst experience I have ever had. I ordered via their website 3 weeks prior to needing the bed and couch for my new apartment, specified the date and then waited. The day of the alleged delivery date came and went and I never received a call to inform me that the date had changed or that a new date had been determined. Finally, I called ikea and when I asked the agent what the point of an estimated delivery date was if they don't even warn you when they arent going to make it she just stopped talking. I finally said 'hello!? anyone there?" to which she responded that I hadnt asked a question she could answer so she just stopped talking. EFFING ridiculous!!!! Then I spoke to her manager who promised to call me the same day with news either way and HE NEVER DID! Finally the next day I called back and spoke to another agent and then his manager and she informed me that the order was scheduled now for JULY 5!!! 7 days after my desired date! Unbelievable! I am never ordering from IKEA online again. I am telling every one I know on every one I know - IKEA ONLINE IS THE WORST SERVICE EVER.

“Best avoided”

I ordered a TARVA bed with mattress and underbed storage boxes on 30th May 2014. I printed off the provisional order confirmation from the website and also received a confirmation email with delivery slated for 6th June 2014. From there, it has gone downhill. Although I was advised that "some manual attention" was necessary and I would therefore be contacted within 48 hours, no more communication was received. I also never received the reconfirmation of delivery that is promised within 72 hours of receipt of the order. When I tried to use the IKEA web site to track my order, the system could not match my email address nor my provisional order number nor my post code to any pending order. I finally called their "call centre" on 4th June. It took me precisely 27 minutes to finally speak to someone who admittedly tried to be very helpful, but could essentially only tell me that yes, they had taken my money, but no, there was no order in the system. After I had provided all pertinent details (including an itemized list of what I had ordered) I was given a reference number and promised a call back within 24 hours, as the matter had been given "priority". Today, 24 hours later, my wife called again to check on any progress. Again, she was told that the appropriate amount had been taken from our debit card, but that there was no order in the system. Having posted the original comment, I can now say that we finally received the goods ordered. After much follow up, we managed to obtain the information from IKEA that it would be best if we came to one of their stores, placed and paid for the order there and then got them to deliver it. The problem buried in the small print is that you cannot transfer the amount they have already taken from you for the online order and use that in the store. You have to pay again in the store and hope that IKEA online handle refunds much better than they handle orders. So we gave that option a miss. We were then offered that IKEA transfer our pending order to a store and deliver from that store. We agreed to that. However, again, we did not receive any text message or email (as promised) to confirm date and time of delivery. We had to chase that information up ourselves. They did deliver today, albeit it 5 hours before the advised time.

“Avoid!”

A flat pack set of drawers arrived. Opened to find badly damaged side panel and top. Called 'customer service', held the line for about 26 mins. Replacement parts (not the whole thing) sent out. Opened to find side panel damaged again! I think they were second hand parts. Called 'customer services', held the line for about 48 mins!! Whole new set on the way. Remains to be seen if they are ok. Very disappointing.

“useless”

i picked up my items from the picking area paid for them and went off to the home delivery service paid for my delivery and was given a date and time of delivery 7 am / 1pm i rang after 1 o clock to be told that the delivery time was different from what the driver had i would be receiving my items between 1 pm / 7pm and that my items had been loaded and were out for delivery 6pm no phone call no items still awaiting i am disgusted with the service i have received and will never shop with ikea again, it would have been helpful if the young man that dealt with my delivery at the home delivery desk knew what he was doing in the first place instead of looking around at everything else and not concentrating he firstly got my post code wrong then the payment wrong and now i find that the delivery times were all wrong as well, no idea where my goods are and no way of contacting them due to office closed

“online service terrible”

I went online this afternoon to place an order for the 16 cube Expedit storage unit which my daughter in law has so I know its very sturdy. My shopping experience turned into a nightmare. First of all the unit was showing as unavailable to order online even though it weighs a hefty 65 kgs and is 5ft x 5ft. I had tried to order this unit a few years ago and was hit with the same problem. I looked at the other colours and found that according to the website they are available to order online. Ikea's terms and conditions say if an item is showing 'add to basket' then it is available to order on line. I added the birch colour to my basket along with two sets of drawers. It gave me a total price and took me on to the delivery details page. After filling in my details it then displayed a 'unknown error please contact customer service'. I tried all the other colours and the same thing applied. Now the fun began !!! Contact customer service it said !! I rung and was told the lines were busy and I had to queue for 30 mins. I listened to 14 different pop songs ranging from Abba to Queen. Then I got cut off.!!! I thought I would try talking to their 'online Anna' I think she was called. This failed due to it saying I dont have the latest update and I needed to download it to talk to the lovely Anna. I have the latest samsung S5 so I am quite sure I have the data needed to talk to this useless robot !! Next I thought I'll email customer service. After writing a long email to them I pressed the send button and nothing happened. The email wouldn't sent. Maybe its my phone signal playing up I thought so I tried my tablet. Again I wrote and again the 'send' feature wouldn't work. Back to my phone and tried once more. Nope my email wouldnt send. I think Ikea need to take some lessons in Customer service and move on up to the real world of today where big heavy furniture can be delivered. Its ridiculous. The most annoyong thing now is because I've browsed fot this unit it keeps showing on my screen to buy !!! BUT IKEA WONT LET ME BUY IT !!! I GIVE UP !! Product 40047675 Catherine Shannon

“worst experience ever”

I tried placing an order online and at every step of the way, they have ruined the order in the following way: 1. Cancelled my order and blamed my bank when it was their billing department's fault 2. The automated online service hung up on me multiple times 3. The employees could not transfer me to the appropriate department 4. When actually delivered, they damaged a piece of the order so I could not build my shelving unit 5. I had to call the IKEA to figure out what was going on with my order with no updates 6. When trying to reschedule my delivery for the damaged part, I was emailed an estimated delivery date 5 days later. That day came and went with no delivery or contact and when called, I found out that the estimated delivery will be 10 days later. 7. When trying to request a supervisor, initially none were to be found I am still dealing with issues with this order. I will never order online again and am currently doubtful that I will ever shop at IKEA again after this. I will not recommend this to any family or friends or even acquaintances. Multiple hours/days were wasted on this order. Time off work was wasted. Worst experience and customer service ever. I expected more from such a large organization and am severely disappointed

“More than poor!”

Ordered desk table online as not available in store. Problems encountered so far 1. Table arrived damaged 2. Called up and replacement arranged and was told would get confirmation in 48 hours (note 4 min call wait time advised was actually 14 min, also no case number provided) 3. No confirmation arrived 4. Called again and was told no record of original conversation and undertone was that as I didn't have a case number the initial call never happened (note 4 min wait time advised was actually 15 mins) 5. Arranged collection and replacement after escalating to customer services 6. Offered voucher in recompense 7. Replacement arrived but carrier had no instructions to collect 6. Replacement damaged 8. Called again now having two unusable products (note 15 min wait time advised actually 22 mins) 9. Asked about voucher and told no record of conversation so explained that really not happy and expected them to honour their offer 10. Arranged yet another replacement and collection 11. Customer services called back to confirm voucher would be provided On 10/11 still waiting final confirmation emails so who knows whether this will go as planned. So far have been waiting a month from original order so not great and spent about 2 hours in total trying to fix. Value for money would be higher re: rating if had had an undamaged product on first try.

“Dreadful service”

Ordered goods online 24.11.13 and items delivered 13/12/13. However a number of items were damages and not included in the delivery. Tried to ring customer service and was told I was in a queue waiting time over an hour. E-mailed through their website to be told there was an 8 day wait to reply. All over Christmas I have had to look at the boxes of that which did arrive which I can't assemble because it is incomplete. Enough said!!

“Be warned!”

Just don't do it. Their customer service is so bad. I've just had a really stressful 5 days just trying to get through to customer services. I made an online purchase on 29/11/13 and was given an estimated delivery date of 12/12/13 with a promise of a firm delivery date within 72 hours. This date arrived after 5 days by text and it was for the 31/12/12 which was too late for me. I phoned to cancel the order. The wait was 60 minutes! I gave up after 30 and emailed instead. It said to expect a reply within 3 days. As I wanted my money back to buy elsewhere, I tried to phone at various times of day and the wait was always 45 or 60 minutes. In desperation I waited and I finally got through after 45 minutes this evening. I received a reply to my email a few minutes after my call to them! this reply took over 5 days! I've wasted so much valuable time over this and, having since looked at other reviews, am not the only one. My advice to Ikea is, if you cannot do 'online' right, don't do it at all.

“Complete Waste of Time - Avoid!”

I went online to ikea.co.uk and purchased a desk, a lamp and two side tables as whilst I thought £30 for delivery was on the expensive side, I decided that it would save me a trip to the store. During the checkout process I was given a delivery estimate of 13th December which was perfect as I needed the items before Christmas. However, the next day I received an e-mail informing me that my delivery date would be 31st December...over 2 weeks later. I would never have ordered the items if this was the case. I immediately called the Ikea "Customer Service" and after 30 minutes on hold was told that yes the 31st December was the earliest delivery date. I promptly cancelled my order but of course have to wait up to 5 days for my card to be refunded. I had a similar experience with Ikea about 3 years ago and really thought and hoped that things had changed. Alas, no! I really feel that this half hearted attempt at a delivery service is really harming the rest of what I deem a good brand. Maybe time to give it up Ikea?

“Beware!!”

The absolute worst experience. Do not order online. You will spend money for deleivery, but no way to contact the delivery service, no idea when to expect your merchandise - took weeks, 48 hours to go through each box to make sure complete, but good luck trying to find someone to talk to! I finally travelled to a store to complain, was told item would be sent out, never happened. When I did finally reach a customer service agent was told I would need to purchase the missing item as I should have contacted them immediately (tried!). Beware!! Lesson learned - NEVER will I order from IKEA again!

The website is just fine, but try to find the item in the store. There's no one on the floor to help you find anything. Further, I felt like I was in the movie "The Wizard of OZ". But, this store's set-up is worse than the movie, and much more confusing than any nightmare that I could imagine. Both of us, my brother and I are disabled, and the fact that you have to walk a mile, no exaggeration, to get from point A to point B, which turns out to be point A, is just plain ridiculousness. If that's a word. People were racing to get to the registers, which were only 3, for hundreds of shoppers. Again, ridiculous. Let me not forget, getting into the parking lot is also ridiculous. Sadly, the shoppers made it worse than it should've been by being rude, rude, rude. Get my point. Speeding into the parking lot, speeding to get out of the parking lot. Running in front of you to get to the registers. OMG! I'll never return to IKEA again.

“pointless waste of time”

How these idiots cant give a better time estimate other a 4 hour slot is beyond me. I was advised i would be called between 8 and 10am on the day of delivery. Did this happen... NO I called them to ask. What have i paid for in the first place.? A delivery service. Call the number being given a time of between 10 to 2. It was already 1010. Then i get a call from the actual driver and told 12 to 4. Oh excellent completely different time and a waste of a day. IKEA this is a disgrace Absolutely rubbish service. I future i will pay more and go elsewhere to a business that appears to respect their customers needs.

“Do not use Ikea online service”

I could not recommend anyone enough NOT to use the Ikea online service. After having to wait nearly 1 month for our purchased items to be delivered, when the van did arrive only half of our order was was on it. The driver claimed the balance of our order was damaged in another lorry somewhere and Ikea would be in touch to let us know when they could re deliver. Its been a week now and no news from Ikea, even though we have emailed, still nothing. We've tried calling too but, the shortest waiting time given, as they claim they are very busy, is 40 minutes!!!! The customer service line isn't free phone so if you are prepared to wait, be prepared for a large phone bill!! If you really want ikea goods I would recommend buying from instore and steer well away from their online service which, ironically isn't much of a service at all.
