PC World are without doubt the biggest bunch of amateurs when it comes to technology retailing. My recent experience of ordering online was shocking with a lack of response to e-mails, and outright lying on the phone. They are not worthy of anyone's business and I urge all readers to give this lot a very wide berth indeed. They also took my money three weeks before they were due to have stock and then completely messed up sending out my product. In the end I cancelled and walked away. ...

i too have been conned by both companies after leasing a laptop. I was told by sales advisor that i could buy the laptop after 2 years for the cost of 1 months leasing payment. This is not the case and i now have to pay for 4 years. Also I was not told that I must be a business before I can lease a piece of equipment. I have sent my story to Watchdog as I see there are several people out there on various forums who have been conned by the same tactics. I will also be contacting my local CAB and...

I need another laptop and having had a bad experience with HP both on product quality (graphics chip overheating and melting the motherboard) and their support I bought an Acer Aspire which has been great. Therefore I went to but another but found that both PC World & Curry's not only didn't have much in the way of Acer laptops but the range they had, had old and slow processors and were much more expensive than other retailers. In fact the same laptop cost £80 less at Tesco! What's happening to...

Pc world... i recently bought an HP notebook there, the sales guy asked me if i wanted their monthly warranty at 9£ per month, he insisted twice, i said no...but in reality what he did?? he put a discount for the first month of 9£ only and still put the monthly direct debit without my agreement! i have not checked the receipt because after doing a purchase you are happy so i have eventually found out just the other day that there was a recurring 9£ charge for the monthly support since i received...

I recently purchased a router from one of the pc world stored, as soon as I got there I headed straight for the "network" section. I was there a good 15minutes without a hint of a membe of "helpful staff" willing to help. So anyways I grabbed one of the routers I was looking at and headed for the cash register, it took a good 5 minutes for anyone to even serve me, at an empty queue I was the only person buying anything, finally someone comes to serve me, I hand over the router that was priced up...

I have ordered a monitor that I was looking to buy for quite a while now. I was going to buy it from Amazon but unfortunately the day I made my mind the price went up. Then I went to pc world and ordered it since it was the same price as it was on the Amazon. It was a big mistake, I ordered it on 1st of January and its been 5 days now and i am still waiting. Its weekend now so have to wait two more days more and hope it will come in on Monday. Avoid buying from pc-world on-line. Words of wisdom...

Against my better judgement, I placed an order online for an HD Monitor/TV. Due to a few bad experiences with them in the past I was really loathe to make this order. The monitor was chosen by my son as a Christmas present and I waited weeks before ordering it simply because I couldn't quite bring myself to give them my money. Anyway, after much pleading with my son to choose a monitor from another supplier (to no avail), I placed my order. I paid for delivery on a specified day and waited in all...

On 17 Aug 2011, I ordered a cheap laptop online to take along on holiday 5 days later. Delivery was stated as within 3 days. On 20 Aug, still no confirmation of delivery date. I called up and was told delivery could not be made before 23 Aug. I decided to cancel order and went into high street to get a more expensive one! The agent advised me to reject delivery should it happen before I left. On 22 Aug, delivery was attempted and I refused it. 4 weeks later, I am still waiting for a refund. I have...

I needed a wifi router quick so bought a Linksys 120N at PC World (reserved online and bough at store) - it worked but kept dropping the signal to mobile devices. After a month I took it back and was expecting a bit of a struggle to get it exchanged, as I'd thrown away the packaging and it was outside of their 21-day 'no quibble' guarantee. They took the faulty one back and invited me to pick out a replacement router from the shelves, no problems at all. I got a Netgear 2200 of equivalent value...

That is custoemer service par excellence. I wonder how many other good stories there are about PC World that people don't take the time to report... It's so hard to get a balanced view of the pros and cons of a particular supplier; and, of course, it probably varies from one branch to another. Oh well ... cheering to hear this report, though.

A nightmarish experience. I called the sales office before ordering and was assured that they were working over the weekend and I would get my projector within 3-4 days. I waited all day on the 4th day - no dispatch number and no delivery. I called and was told that they would deliver the next day. No dispatch number the next morning - so I called again. I was told that it would definitely arrive the day after!! I waited all morning once again and then called. I wanted to speak to a supervisor and...

0780 PCW : Festival Park, RidgeHouse Drive, Stoke On trent.
Alison : The Manager
To all customers please stay away from this store of PCW.
We purchased goods (Laptop and software to the sum of £600)excellent service by Rob. 7 days later we returned to query one of the pieces of software which we believed was not working and would therefore require a full refund.
Response: Alison "The Mangaer" . " I have 5 mins to spare no I will not look at it, I will suggest that you book in with a technician and the charge will be £50"
Inter-personal skills - none.
Manger - I think not.
Technical skills- obviously none.
We finally left and dealt with Chris in Crewe who was excellent.

4 days after making my order, I had received no communication other than the email I got when I first ordered to say it had been received and it is being "prepared" for delivery. So I phoned PC World to ask for an update on the progress of my order. They said I needed to answer a few questions for security checks. Went to PC world to get a laptop for use in another country. The reason for going to PC world rather than buying online was to get the VAT refund. Pc world arent in the same market as the likes of ccl, tekheads, dabs. They do have something of a bad reputation. I think PC World is a place people shop at who prefer to do a minimum of research and who usually have perhaps more money at their disposal than most. That said, they are always worth keeping your eye on, they do get some good 'one off' items, I suspect they employ fairly inept workers to research and keep their prices competitive though.
