I've seen mention of the HOLD issue and the freezing up and yes; I've experienced all of that.
Tried buying a newer more costly replacement (another make) and found that was awful to use with a horrible user interface. So, as previously mentioned I opened it up (I work with computers...

A very good overall experience with the DigiFusion FVRT100. I have had my Digifusion FVRT100 for approximately 8 months, and already I've experienced the problems reported countless times by other hapless owners of this great turd of a digibox recorder; namely, it got stuck in HOLD for a while, which it cured all by itself, then just after Christmas it decided to become unresponsive. It wouldn't perform any function quickly - changing channel alone would take at least a minute, and the guide and record functions became unuseable. At the end of my... (read more)

Getting a whole year out of it ain't bad -when they work they're great!

When mine started repeatedly freezing after 8 months I disconnected it and got an FVRT150. When the FVRT150 went bonkers after 3 months I re-connected the FVRT100 and for 3 weeks now it's worked flawlessly! I've since had the FVRT150 replaced but after 2 weeks the sound has goofed. A high hassle-factor by anyone's standards.

Your hold problem is often put down to a weak or failing PSU but even if you rectified this, something else would probably go; if there was an easy fix we'd all have it already.

When the DigiFusion FVRT100 worked it was excellent. Then started to freeze, on playback. Then get a mind of its own, deciding to break into the TV channel you were watching, refuse to switch off. Helpline was initially impossible to contact - lots of music and apologies - but easier later in week. I had the DigiFusion FVRT100 "box" and for the first 18 months thought it was absolutely brilliant then it started to go wrong. A new power supply was the first thing, then it would get slower and slower and simply stop working. Response from the digifusion customer support was varied. I was given a few "re-set" fixes that worked at first but then achieved nothing. (I was having to re-set the box daily) Finally and with some reluctance I have slung the thing out. I bought my "box" as a refurbished item just to evaluate a new technology at a cheap price, then if I thought it worthwhile I would buy a more up-market one... For the first 18 months I was pleased with the performance of my DigiFusion FVRT100. However, now there is no longer any warranty it is failing on a daily basis. The support team had to replace the mains supply unit under warranty some time ago, but I am now finding the unit dying overnight. Most people will be familiar with the concept of a PVR by now, but to explain - this PVR (personal video recorder) has two Freeview tuners on board, and a hard disk. Actually, the issue was finally resolved when the company sent a new replacement for the box which was the newer model. They replaced it with a FVRT 200. I am still not sure whether this was response to my frequent threats and complaints to them or whether it was just an error on their part. True to form, it was not accompanied by any sort of explanation.

I am still not clear why the previous model is so troublesome, but I just know that it is. There has been no problem with the newer model replacement and so far it is behaving splendidly well. I don't know whether to congratulate the company on this solution because, as I say, I'm not sure it was intentional.

Five stars - what !! Had battles with the Hold problem, upgraded software, replaced hard drive, replaced the fan. It's a bit like Triggers Broom, not much of the original survives. So I reckon the 5 stars don't really belong to the product as sold. I've had two of these things - both caused endless grief and both ended up in the bin. Still, I'm pleased you like it.
