Had my Tom Tom for a couple of years, works ok when you get it started, but it seems getting it started is a common problem, if laid to rest for a few weeks, I find I have to use the mains adaptor to charge it before use and I leave it charging fgr at least four hours before I need it, only then will it switch on, and with a lot of luck find a satelite within five minutes

After 4 weeks my Tom Tom Go 510 just closed down and refused to come on. I took it to Halfords for test and they found the charger OK but the sat nav had no green light. It has gone back to Tom Tom. I subscribe to the safety cameras and am concerned that if they give me a new one the card will not be returned and I have only joined 3 weeks ago. Halfords reckon 10 days for return but I will not hold my breath!

I have only used my TomTom Go 510 5 times and this weekend I went away, it got me there no problem and I put it away in a safe place. When I went to go back home it didn't turn back on - I thought it was the battery but I had it charging all the way home, which was a 2 hour drive, not knowing how to get home and still nothing happening. I'm going to take it back to Tesco's to see what they say.

Tom Tom got me out of trouble the very next day I bought the Go 150 satellite navigation system. I had to make a detour to my journey, and I would have had to backtrack for miles. I just switched it on and told it where to go. It located me, and within minutes I was on my way. Even an accident didn't stop me. I just said find another way, and it DID!

On the whole I am pleased with this purchase but, as mentioned above, disappointed I have spent a considerable sum on a compatible mobile which I cannot pair with Tom Tom. Had I known I would not have purchased this particular mobile.

I had great expectations of my TomTom Go 510 sat nav and it has given me the confidence to leave the town where I live and work. I have now enjoyed many days out with my young daughter without having to wait for my husband to take me! Make sure you put it away after use, as I and many of my friends have had their Tom Tom stolen from outside the house.

I bought a Tomtom 700 at Christmas. It has proved to be one of the best things I could have spent my money on. I travelled to SW France using it and saved approximately 45 minutes from the time I usually take.
I then ran into a problem in that suddenly one day, although the green power light came on, the screen remained blank. I emailed Tom Tom customer services and within 24 hours had been given instructions of resetting, which worked first time. All my original settings were intact as well.

TomTom Go gives clear directions and is very easy to program for new destinations. We just purchased the product as an aid for a new driver who had a tendency of getting lost easily.
We are still uncertain why this second unit only works on battery power? We are having problems getting through to TomTom technical support. Their web site is extremely slow and they do not answer telephone calls.

Having used both the AA & Natvtec on a palm the TomTom Go700 is far better at receiving the signals - beware an external antenna is often required for the modern car - sun on the screen can be a problem,TomTom Go should produce a visor as standard, all extras cost, inc mapping updates, overall a good piece of kit.

I had this problem - does anyone know how to reset a Tom Tom 700 when it hangs up and refuses to switch on. (I exchanged mine for another - but you never know if it will happen again).
