In Terminal 1 they are now back to a baggage delivery times of 45 minutes or more. And they force your pick-up car away from the drop off area outside the terminal and into the car park which adds another 5 Pounds to your cost and at least another 20 min to your journey. What a lousy and greedy shithole. (read more)

First time flying into Heathrow and hopefully the last !!! BA assured me I had enough time on my 1 hour connection time - told me I would arrive at one gate and depart from the next, well .. wrong !! What a zoo ! And try to find someone to assist us, not impressed with British Airways or Heathrow. (read more)

Had the full body frisk and problem with my shoes. Same ones I've worn through every other airport with no dramas. In the meantime myniPhone and iPad got lost/misplaced as it took so long to do the check I couldn't retrieve them. Finally got them, but staff less than helpful. So they then did the full check of my cabin baggage. And no free wifi anywhere in Terminal 3, expensive foods and limited seating. Writing this at HongKong airport- quite a contrast. As a British citizen living in... (read more)

First time at Heathrow. What a Dump! I can't believe they got through the Olympics, those poor souls that had to queue up at every corner. I'll never fly though there again. Makes us sad. we would like to go to London sometime. They lost our bags and had no answers for us except they would be delivered 2 days later in France. One star for the airport employees that were very kind to the hundreds of people that weren't going to make their flight and they let them cut the line. Do have to... (read more)

I spent 6 hours in transit at Heathrow Airport this week, most of that time I was in Terminal 5 waiting for my connection to Madrid. I must say the airport looks amazing but if you look closely there are almost NO facilities for economy passengers. There is very little seating and lots of bars and restaurants. I was in BA Club World so I had a whole floor of comfy sofas etc. The wierd thing is all the shopping is really high.end (prada, Harrods etc), but all the premium class passengers... (read more)

Employees rudes and not professional. The controls are stupidly meticolous. Personnel seems to be trained to unplease travellers. The combination with BA is even worse. Prices too high for a poor quality. The airport is not comfortable at all. (read more)

Went through terminal 3, used Servisair VIP lounge. STAY AWAY IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY...no where to sit, all foods pre packed, all hot drinks out of a machine, couldn't find any newspapers, quite dirty, packed with people with not enough chairs to go around..... really dissappointed as used VIP lounge in Gatwick Airport last June and it was amazing. We were victims of Heathrow airport during the "blizzard" of 18th/19th December, 2010. Very badly organised both on the minimal snow clearing they needed to do and how they made no attempt to help their customers during the ensuing confusion. I have NEVER in my life felt so ashamed to be British. The attitude of BAA both corporate and individuals was horrendous. They appear to forget that we are their customers and that they should treat us with respect. I wish Heathrow did not have... (read more)

I have to agree with the Pope's entourage- Heathrow T3 is like an airport of a poorly funded developing nation.
It makes me very ashamed to be a Brit. Singapore has 18m people a year (world's busiest airport) pass through it, but always looks clean and inviting. Heathrow looks filthy, disorganised.
Travelling with a baby in arms is horrendous. Do the staff get sadistic pleasure from making life tougher? Unpack all your bags, get everything out (EVERYTHING) leave stroller closed and then tut...

We left from T3, 8am and it was very busy. We queued through security and then had to queue for a newspaper, sandwich etc. When we returned to T3 four weeks later at 6pm it was still very busy. Cases took quite a while to come through - ours were last of course! The part that really upset me were the state of the ladies toilets. They were dirty, driers etc not working, lack of soap and smelly overflowing bins. Heathrow airport does not offer a good welcome to overseas visitors. After... (read more)

Am embarrassment for any civilised country, only the French at CDG airport seem to made made travelling more unpleasant that the British.Luggage took 3/4 hour to arrive, and they were not even embarrassed to say that is was due to lack of equipment/ transfer to Republic of Ireland flight, it's like walking through a 1/2 mile porticabin loo. The toilets, paper on floor ( not clean paper but will spare you details) had to go to three different sites to find a loo that you could use without... (read more)

This review is specifically about Heathrow Terminal 5.
It looks lovely, very light, very bright and apparently the shops are great.
Howver, the day we arrived a fairly important item wasn't working - the machines that take your bags to the planes.
So, we had a 3 hour wait whilst no customers were being checked in because the bags couldn't be taken.
Then we finally got on our flight with 1 minute to spare rather stressed and exhausted, only to find out that when we arrived at Geneva only...

I think Heathrow is great! I want it to get the east terminal and to have and have 6 different terminals, and a third runway. It really needs it to stay a fantastic airport. I'm proud to have it has UK's main airport. If it was a little more modern it would be even better. (read more)

I was a transit passenger flying in from New York and I had with with me Jack Daniels (Black Label) which I bought from duty free shop in NY. It was taken from me at the London airport took it from me saying no liquids could be carried on to the flight. If that is the case why duty free shops are selling these, and how come there is posting saying purchases made from these shops may not be allowed into the plane? (read more)

- In terms of communication, I would imagine passengers have a right to be informed about the situation at Heathrow (even prior to the connecting flight from the Leonardo Da Vinci Airport in Rome). When the BA connecting flight got delayed, passengers had to wait in line for 30 minutes with no announcement until the gate opened. (Not sure if this is BA's problem or Heathrow's problem?).
- Three years ago, we were transferring at Heathrow from Germany. Our baggage was lost! We luckily got it...

terrible airport.
one of the worse I've been to.
I'd rather be in one of those tiny airports where you have to walk to the plane and board.
probably good for people who love airports and don't mind lost luggages and are not in a rush to make it in time to make it to a connecting flight taking off in half an hour.

Friends, do not travel through London Heathrow airport. The experiences I got are poor. Everything is poor. The people working in the airport (especially security) are not friendly and do not appear to respect the passengers. I think this gives very bad image to UK. They seem disorganized. Having flown in from several airports in the Middle and Far East, Heathrow gives a poor first image of our country. Compared to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpar, Singapore, Dubai, Bahrain and even third world Denpasser (Bali), Heathrow has what appears to be dirty carpets that are badly mended, walkways that do not work and decor that gives little impression of England's premier airport situated in the capital city of one of the worlds richest countries. I am not proud to arrive at this airport even... (read more)

The line for making a connection within Terminal 4 was horrendous! It was faster to exit to the arrivals, leave the airport, then check in again on the connecting flight. Reason for such a long line? Carry-on security check was limited to two machines only for all connecting flights, the connection was within the same hallway, no commercial anything inside. To make matters worse there was no instruction or assistance, travellers were not sure if they were standing on the right spot or not.... (read more)

Heathrow is the nearest of the big airports to London, with the exception of the smaller London City Airport. It also offers a wide choice of airlines, and most of the low cost long haul fares you will find will be routed to/from Heathrow. As such it is the best airport o use if you have a long haul flight and can't afford to pay a premium to route through a frankly more pleasant airport.
Heathrow is terminally overcrowded. 24/7 you will find a heaving crowd and facilities stretched well...

Heathrow is well located for London travellers but it is old and dated.
Terminal 3 is my vision of hell on earth. No matter what day or time that you go it is packed. The queues are huge. There are simply too many people using this terminal and I suspect that BAA know this. In addition there is always constant building work going on throughout the airport but especially in Terminal 3 which despite any refurbishment still looks tatty, dirty and dated.

I use Heathrow regularly flying from Dublin and Shannon. Usually quite quick, getting baggage within 10-15 minutes of landing.
Occasionally there have been stacking delays but 20 minutes at the most.
No problems with customs on Irish flights -straight through.
Transport is good - Heathrow express takes 15 mins to Paddington station and costs £13 one way or £25 return for a standard fare ( 1st class £21 &£40, but why you'd need first class for a fifteen min journey is beyond me). trains leave...

I can't understand why so many airlines are desperate to get into Heathrow Airport. Its common place to be held in a 'stack' for hours and then be kept waiting on the ground for a similar time because there are no available stands for the plane to park on.
The airlines that are already present at Heathrow are denied the space for an appropriate size check-in and you therefore have to queue for long periods of time to check-in. You then have to queue for long periods of time to get through...

Hi -- thanks for the info about Heathrow. I am flying from Seattle to Dublin on British Air. Evidently many of these flights require a bus transfer between Heathrow and Gatwick (in other words, the flight to Dublin is from Gatwick, thus the need for the bus transfer.)

My question is: have you ever done this bus transfer? Is it comfortable, easy to handle (especially after 12 hours travelling)? Any other information that you think could be helpful to this trip?

Thanks much for any advice you can provide.
