Good Points: Cheap
Bad Points: Pay peanuts, get monkeys
General comments: Opodo double charged me for a booking, after assuring me this would not happen during a period of trouble with their servers. Consequently, a huge amount of money that has gone from my account, which if I had not checked my account, they would have kept. I will never use this company again and I'd recommend you think twice before you do.

I was looking forward to my honeymoon, then I had to phone Opodo re: a name change. In September I was told it could be done, 3 weeks later i was told it couldnt, despite getting "authorisation" from Swiss Air, as I was told to do my Opodo. I was then told it could be done, 2 weeks later I was told it couldnt be done. They charged me twice for an expensive pair of long haul tickets (paid directly from my current account, thus leaving me unexpectantly in my overdraft)
Got through on a Sunday, when they seemed incapable of doing anything about the issue.
Did not want to take my number, sort the problem and then call me back, telling me that I should call again tomorrow. Customer service number is rubbish, on hold for 20 mins then disconnected or just rings and rings.
No answer to their online complain ...

Opodo need to do something to be fair to the consumer. I'n sure there are many people who have had okay trips with this travel agent, but we haven't. As a couple of well versed travellers we certainly won't be using Opodo again and will spread the word to family and friends to avoid them.

I booked from Opodo to get ticket in December. That's peak season and I didn't get a cheap ticket to my destination. Opodo gave me the cheapest ticket for my travel. However, it took me a lot of time to get the cheap price on web site. You have to try a number of options by giving different departure dates and arrival dates combination, then you find the cheapest price otherwise you might end up paying even more than the other travel agents can offer you. Price wise Opodo is the most competitive travel agent, they offer a speedy service at competitive prices. Tickets are, however, allocated and not easily understood.

On booking the ticket I made the stupid error of putting my abbreviated christian name, Sam instead of Samuel, my fault yes but there were no reminders on the page that the name should match that on my passport and I wonder if a lot of people make the same mistake. I have recently been in contact with Opodo and I feel it's only right to let people know the difficulties my wife and I have experienced. Firstly we tried to book over £1000 pounds worth of airline tickets but after 4 hours online we still could not book. We rang the technical helpline 'please note at a premium rate' and were told there was a fault with the website and to try in 1 hour. Booked to go to Cyprus 26/12 to 02/01. Good price with Opodo - flight with Alitalia via Milan. Alitalia cancelled flight on 16/12. Opodo apologetic but offered unsuitable alternative, on different days. They wouldn't consider other airlines that would have got us there the same day, as only business class available. I booked 2 holidays with Opodo so far and I have been a very happy customer in both cases. The website is well structured and not as cluttered as other sites. It's great if they have special deals on, which allows you to fly with a good airline at an affordable rate.

Booked a trip with opodo. Received a confirmation. They said they could not accept a credit card payment, only bank transfer. Should have been a warning sign. Made the transfer. Once received they said the trip booked was oversold and offered a substitute that was clearly inferior. Zero follow-up by them. They had my wire transfer and had no interest in further contact. Recommmend avoid.

Opodo - I tried to book two flights through Opodo, I had seen them on the website but couldn't book them. I decided to ring them and book them over the telephone, I was then made to wait half an hour (ringing from my mobile) whilst being put on hold a number of times.
