Good Points: Fantastic scripts & acting
Bad Points: Can be very gory and very depressing
General comments: I've been watching ER since it started on American TV all those years ago and my interest has never flagged. It has always been consistently well-scripted, well-acted and brilliantly directed. Where the early series focussed mostly on the action within the hospital and the cases brought into the ER, over time the show has started to focus increasingly on the lives of the doctors and nurses. The last two series have been particularly unusual in that many of the main characters have been nearly-absent through large portions of the season, popping up for an occasional storyline and then disappearing again. It's meant that the focus has been on newer (and slightly annoying) characters, but even though I find I don't invest so much in some of the more recent additions (and some of the older characters have suffered annoying personality transplants), it still keeps me coming back.
Overall, ER is still, after 10 years, the best medical drama on TV bar none and well worth your viewing time.
