I booked a flight from London to Malaysia flying with Malaysia Air. The price was good - some £200 cheaper than booking with the airline. However, I was unable to manage my booking (choose a seat, book in online, upload passport details etc). I phoned Expedia. Chap on the phone was very pleasant. My wife and I travelled to Vienna from Heathrow by lufthansa last month and while booking we were told by Expedia staff that our entitlement to luggage was 24 kgs each besides our hand luggage.Well at the check in we were told that there was no free baggage and we had to pay £25.The check in staff did tell me that expedia often gives wrong information and we were not the first ones. Because we had multiple travelers that we were trying to coordinate on one flight and at one hotel, we needed help with our booking. The online booking process didn't allow us to configure everything the way we needed to do it. The gentleman who helped us make the reservations was nice but every single portion: flight, hotel and car each came out to be higher priced that the posted amount online. Have just ended my second 45 minute call with Expedia's so called Customer Service. Though I found their representatives to be both courteous and professional the outcome was neither satisfactory or done with principal or integrity. My hotel called expedia to get us a room with a different hotel because they were overbooked. We were at the beach for a meeting. I had booked a hotel with a indoor pool because it was still cold. We went onto Expedia coupons first and registered first when we booked the flight out total was listed as $1573.oo and then it listed $100.00 coupon bringing the total to $1473.00. “expedia booking Riverside Quality Inn & suites-11043...”

“Poor knowledge and customer service”

I have used Expedia in the past as they offered a cheaper flight then the actual airlines I was booking to NZ. However on this occassion they failed miserably on giving me the customer service and flights I wanted. The different memebers of staff I spoke to were saying contradictory things and lef tme not knowing where to turn. Information shown on Expedia is going downhill. You find a vacation package for say $1400, then when you go to book it, the price jumps to $2200. Therefore you cannot rely on quoted prices. Booking cars in UK - some companies do not have cars available for Expedia on weekends, even though the favourable weekly rate is shown. “View Options on Expedia but Don't Book with Expedia!”

The only pro of booking with Expedia is that it's easy to use its search to find options that suit you and filter them according to your prefereces. But once you find a decent deal, the best thing to do is to see if you can find that or a similar deal on another site. Because, after that, your use of Expedia is extremely likely to go downhill. “Good choice of flight options - nightmare for refunds”

Booked a flight with Expedia from UK to Vietnam via Amsterdam and Guangzhou with China Southern Airlines. Had a good choice of airlines and prices from the original request. i'm the one who wrote, booked one day, no flights the next.
couldn't get anywhere with Expedia, i rang China Southern direct uk office. phone picked up and spoke to a lady straight away, told her my concerns, she put me on hold, 2 mins later she was back to say, yes it was booked then cancelled next day, we refunded Expedia your costs on 25/05/12, if you don't receive your refund in 7 days ring me back and i will speak to them, might be getting somewhere ...

I booked 5 tickets with expedia.com.au. The fare advertised was $588.80 per person. When I finished the booking the cost was $600.40, but my e-tickets said $588.80. Expedia said the final price is the ticket price. They also said that they don't charge a Credit Card fee nor commission. So what is the difference? I got another quote from Expedia for the same flights on the same date and it showed the lower price again. I think it's a scam. Will never book with Expedia again. Why Put the cheapest possible price for the hotel? Im sure it is possible to get hotel prices at £50 a night if you book 3 months in advance but for most people this isnt possible. Why not put the average price or even the price that you are likely to pay. Its very miss leading and makes finding a hotel much harder and longer...
