I wouldn't use Expedia for travel anymore. I booked tours in Rome with Appian Tours and ended up on a tour where you couldn't hear anything that that guide said due to faulty equipment. I had another tour with the same company scheduled in 2 days and asked Expedia to switch me to another tour company. They sent me a copy of their policy which says that they do not do changes or refunds unless requested 2 days in advance of when you leave for the trip. In other words, if something goes wrong on the trip, you choose a bad hotel, you get horrible customer service or whatever, it's too bad so sad. I wasn't asking for a refund, just satisfaction. I got nothing.
In talking to other guests over breakfast about it the next day, they also had Expedia horror stories to share. One said he was going to stay for 2 weeks with a group at a hotel in Estonia. He wasn't able to book through Expedia and booked directly with the hotel instead. The hotel wasn't as advertised. In fact, it was a dump. When he told the hotel to cancel the rest of his stay, they told him he was stuck because he booked through Expedia. He smiled and told them that he booked directly through the hotel, and he was able to get his money back.
Seems like Expedia doesn't care about quality control or customer service. I will never book with them again and I will be going through my credit card company to get a refund on the tour where we couldn't hear the guide.

Their system is broken. When you cancel a reservation at a hotel, they will charge you $200 even if you are already checked in ! Be careful when you are navigating your itinerary on Expedia not to accidentally hit the "Cancel" button. Otherwise, you are dea !- Read thesailor's review (44 words)

Never book through expedia. I booked a flight to California and received my confirmation. I even went into my itinerary on expedia a day before I was supposed to leave. When I arrived at the airport I found out that expedia had booked me on a nonexistent flight. When I called them, they were rude; never apologized for the inconvenience and never reimbursed me. I was quite frustrated with Expedia in getting even a simple record on the fee they charged me upon changing my flight schedule. They were quick to charge the penalties but when I requested a sort of receipt of it, they have never come back to me, even if I called them "four times" and an additional email request. Only when I confronted them in my fourth call, they finally gave me the information making an excuse that the request usually takes four to five days. Had to change a flight and ended up paying more than the original flight MORE for a new flight. Thought that the new price they gave me was overall - not an addition to the already paid amount. When I questioned them, they gave me their line of excuses. I made the comment that it would have been cheaper to just cancel and purchase a new ticket. He agreed; couldn't do anything though.

I booked a reservation with the White Barn Inn in Kennebunk, Maine for this upcoming weekend a few weeks ago. I received a confirmation of this reservation from Expedia yesterday. Today, 3 days before my stay, I got an email from a different hotel in Kennebunk, The Yachtsman Lodge, confirmning my reservation. I have NEVER encountered such bad customer service as at Expedia. I booked 4 flights from LAX to Sydney, 2 adult, 2 children. When the Itinerary arrived, there was a misspelling of one of the names. It has literally taken nearly 8 hours of phone calls to even approach a solution. Expedia wanted me to purchase a new ticket for their mistake !!! I have used Expedia multiple times a year for several years to book both domestic and foreign travel, air, hotels and rental cars and I have never had a problem, ever. I have changed my arrangements both on-line and by phone, again, never a problem. Over the phone the customer service has consistantly been polite and efficient. If they did not have an answer to my question they asked someone. My only warning is that when a reservation says "no refund" it means "no refund". Expedia has by far the most icompitent call centre staff. They are not able to cancel my tickets. Can you belive that. How stupid.

As I was searching through google, I did find sites of places where users have had bad experiences with Expedia. However, there are many more users who are satisfied with Expedia, rather than unsatisfied with it. If you really think about it, only people who have had bad experiences with Expedia are likely to complain as opposed to satisfied users who are not likely to write any comment at all. Expedia charged me 2X the going rate for the hotel I stayed in. I did not find out until I was handed a receipt at the end of my stay, apparently a mistake. Do not book through Expedia, the hotel owner told me to always go direct. We booked Jonathan Edwards Motel on 393 Main St Dennis Port, MA 02639
USA in Cape Cod with expedia.ca.
When we got there, the hotel was closed. Like we discovered later, hotel was closed for few months.When we tried to call expedia. ca, it took us 26 hours to get to them.
They told us that it is not their fault.
We booked the hotel with expedia.ca because we thought that they guarantee the information on their website. But we discovered we were wrong.

It's official. Expedia can kiss my dirty grits! I will neeevvvverrr book with them again! I will use the credit they have issued to my account & then I will dump them :) I booked a flight with them last year with insurance, but had to cancel. CAUTION - words of warning for all Expedia users!!
I booked my trip to Ireland 4 months in advance using Expedia. This included a car rental in Dublin with a company called "Payless". Because we booked early, we got a good rate. Apparently too good, because when we got to Dublin, we couldn't find a "Payless" counter anywhere. We spoke with several airport employees who said that there was no company called Payless in the airport. Never never never ever book with expedia.
The one thing that made me so mad with the company is how they handle the price match policy. If they are so reluctant to do the price match, they should just drop the advertisement to avoid misleading the customers
I am now typing this review while being hold on the phone. Here are the 5 bad phone call experiences I had with them:

I changed my flight to day before Wednesday and was told there would be only a 150.00 change fee, since my flight was at the same time. I got charged 80.00 more and just spent 45 mins on hold to be told sorry we told you. They could care less how they treat you after the sale. They figure they got your money why care about you after. I booked a motel in Cape Cod for one night through Expedia and payed $150 on the phone. When I reached the Motel, there was nobody at the front desk. Then I found out that the Motel does not have a lisence to run and the room rent if $50 NOT $150! I reached at 6 pm on Saturday evening thinking I will head out for a nice dinner by the beach but my night got ruined becasue I spent 3 hrs looking for a place to stay after that!

I booked a trip to Las Vegas over a Holiday Weekend. weeks after my boss told me I HAD to work that weekend, and I had to change the trip by 1 day. I first called Expedia and they said absolutely not. Then I called the hotel as they just wanted our business. So I called Epedia back and they still would not let me change it by a day.
