I booked a flight by Expedia and what a mess. I got to the airport early 4:30 am, thank god! Continential cancelled the flight 11:30 the night before and called Expedia. I will not use expedia in the future. It is much simpler and cheaper to go through the airlines themselves. Expedia kept my refund money for longer than they said (one to two magical billing cycles), and it was a huge hassle to finally get it back. After calling the airline (Airtran), I found out that Airtran gave the money back to Expedia the week after cancellation, and that expedia kept that money for over 2 months before my refund was issued. Avoid booking flights with this company. I recently wanted to book return flights from London to Hong Kong and used Expedia. They quoted prices from Virgin ( £470) and Cathay Pacific ( £750) and also declared that there were no direct flights available with British Airways on the dates that I requested. Why book through Expedia? The prices aren ' t any better; it ' s the same as if booking directly. When you make a reservation online and go through the entire process (book hotel, flight, car) and input credit card info then submit booking, if for some reason one portion of the package is not available (type of car is unavailable or hotel type is unavailable) it tells you that "your booking was not made because the rental car portion was not available", however it actually puts an authorization hold on your credit card for 48-72 hours. Expedia's customer service is lacking- I had to change my flight plans in mid trip, and they refused to help at all! I had to go to the airlines myself and request a change (which cost more than if I were to buy a new ticket all together). I am horrified at their service standards- even fast food chains will give more service than I got from them! I suppopse that's what happens when your 800 phone lines are sent to India rather than a national call center.....

The customer service is very rude. Usually those people are there to help you and tell you what you can do in your favor, but Expedia kept advising me about policies which prohibit me from changing the flight. I bought insurance if I need to change or cancel my flight, turns out that I can cancel or change it, but there is a $250 charge for that!

Booked a flight to San Fran using Expedia whom I found on MSN (found out later Expedia is spin off from Microsoft) and prices seemed reasonable. They gave me a price guarantee.
Found flights for 10% less and their response this does not count becasue they did not match the ones they booked.
Fool me once shame on you but Expedia is not going to fool me twice.
Do not use MSN travel and search agencies other than Expedia and you can beat their prices.

I have been trying to arrange a trip to Thailand. Expedia provide a good website where you can book everything at once. This, we are told, is advisable as you are better protected than if you book flights, accommodation, etc. separately. However sometimes there are errors on their website. I booked 2 flights with Expedia at the same time totalling over 1000 pounds. I needed to cancel one and was told via email and over the telephone that I would receive all the taxes paid on the ticket, this totalling 229 pounds. After cancelling I received 60. I contacted customer service again demanding to know why and a 2 line response was sent simply saying that 160 pounds was deemed non-refundable tax! after I confirmed otherwise!
