I hired a compact car. According to the web site, this should allow 2 adults, 3 smaller people, 1 large suitcase and 1 small suitcase. What do I get? A Toyata Yaris. 5 door hatch. You can get 5 people in this, but no way can you also get even 1 large suitcase in this car let alone another small one. Very straight forward gave me exactly what I wanted at a good price. Good choice of car best selling point for me was the included driver will probably only need one extra but the option for more is welcome. Tried other sites not as impressed usually go through a comparison site as have been travelling to the US for over twenty years at least 25 trips, so lots of experience. I used this company to rent a car for three weeks. To cut a long story short I paid my fees when booking it and when I get to the airport to pick the car up they deicide to charge me more than what I originally paid. So a $350 booking became close to $1000 leaving me no real options otherwise I would be stranded at the airport and without a car for my trip (which I was told they would keep my full booking fee I cancelled). Was looking for a Car Hire company who were local (East Grinstead) and open on Bank Holiday Monday for pick-up. Was unsure to start with that I could hire a car at Gatwick Airport without actually "flying" in or out!. Having reserved a car inline I travelled by public transport to Edinburgh airport to pick it up. The service desk would not accept my Maestro bank card nor would they allow me to pay cash. Frankly I was disgusted by the service (not) provided. There is nothing immediately visible on your website to say that Maestro is not accepted. I have had 2 experiences with Alamo - both unnecessarily expensive! Experience 1 Most recently (APril 2013) I jetted out to Orlando in a party of 6 having prepaid and booked a 7 seater. On arrival, the Alamo assistant showed me a photo of the car I had reserved, telling me that it wasn't big enough. He said he would get me a bigger one which I thought was really helpful. The location was downtown instead of at the airport Called and tried to change the reservation and got shoved around a phone tree and connected to someone who was no help at all. I collected my hire car tonight from Heathrow, I have my own hire car insurance (icarhireinsurance.com)The rental clerk refused to hire me the car unless I paid £18 per day cdw and theft (over £450 total) and stated that if I didnt take it then no car, I normaly use Hertz and have never had a problem. Hi, I have had an almost identical experience with Alamo. I wanted to bring my pre paid hire forward by a day. Wasn't allowed to do this on the web or over the phone but advised to make a new booking. I am now chasing refund of my original pre payment, around £385. This has been escalated to director level at Alamo but if I don't get my money back (which they've now had for 3 months) I will take them to court!

Good for you. This is what they need. As far as I can see they do these sort of things as standard practice to make a fast buck! We had the same email reply as you and nothing since. If we don't get any satisfaction from them by the end of this month, our legal representative will be writing to them too.

My wife booked this for me online. When I got to the agent she told me that the vehicle booked was not available and she would upgrade me for free. I was tired after a long flight and was pick pocketed at Heathrow and I just said as long as it is what my wife booked. I was in an accident that day.
