“hidden extras”

We hired from Boston and was sold a Toll pass device $19:75 saying it saves us time and pays tolls. NO IT DOESN'T. It notifies Alamo who to charge Tolls to. There is a $3:95 convenience per day fee too. So buyer be aware your credit card will be charged at a later date and you need to log on to find out details of what charges are for which journey. So, after reading a number of negative reviews and knowing what to look out for we went with Alamo to hire a car at Figari airport Corsica. Prior to taking it we did an extremely thorough investigation of the car, taking photos of everything we saw. We then took the photos and our car damage inspection checklist back to the counter to ensure we wouldn't get charged for these later on. I found a price on Kayak for a 23 day rental in Florida for £454. Although this was more than other companies, I do like Alamo (mainly due to their speedy Alamo Insiders check-in at pick-up time) so I selected that one. I was then diverted to the Alamo website where I could see a charge of £453.15 for "Pay now" but there also seemed to be an additional charge to pay at the counter of £140 for "Pay at counter". “Poor Customer Service”

I am on a six month tour of the USA and have used Alamo on three occasions. I have two more rentals for a total of 73 days currently arranged with yourselves but I am thinking of cancelling them and using a different car rental provider. Hiring a car is not a difficult thing and the process is similar whoever you use. The differentiator is how good operators are when a customer has a problem and needs help. I wholeheartedly agree that Alamo does not have a customer service policy. I rented with them in June.Following a minor accident during the rental. I was left stranded in Yosemite Park overnight because the 24-hour roadside assistance does not apply after 10:pm! I'm still trying to contact 'someone' in authority to discus my additional costs in finding accommodation for the night - so far two people have made 1 appearance but nothing for the past 4 weeks. As I live in the UK I find it difficult to speak/contact anyone. Next stop may be a lawyer or member of the main Alamo Board of Directors. The one thing that is certain is that I'll never use Alamo again and would urge others to follow.

Alamo have awful customer service ! awful staff and just overall the worst attitude towards there customers. This is my third time to write a complaint with yet still no reply!!! We rented a car in nice airport to be left 3 hours with small kids because the lady refused to put my card through manually when there was something wrong with the chip no refund was given and no apology she just wanted to lock up and go home at 10 o clock at night thank god another company would manually put my card… Read Full Review

Past experiance of collecting a hire car was up selling to customers who arrived from overseas. Telling tired travelers their luggage won't fit in the car and 101 other reasons why they should upgrade and spend more money. Now overseas customers can check in online ......go straight to the garage pick their booked sized car and show their documents at the exit point and drive out! I would not recommend hiring from Alamo Piccadilly Manchester UK. For a start they are not Alamo, they are Enterprise car hire . That is where you pick up the car., enterprise car hire. The car pick up location is not at the train station. It's in a car park under a building that is extremely hard to find and also very difficult to return the car too due to one way streets etc. They debit your account for the bond, they don't pending it , they actually take the 200 pounds out of your account!!… Read Full Review

Website advertised one free extra driver, however when booked online this was not supplied. Contacted customer services via telephone only to be told they could not access the online booking to make amendments, there was nothing they could do, staff were honest and apologetic and advised I would have to contact the collection office to try and sort there, which means I have to make an international call to the USA. To book I clicked on Toyota Sienna (which has 8 seats) but the next page it said it was a Dodge Grand Caravan or similar, which has 7 seats. I need 8 seats so will they try and make me take a 7 seater. Also, it kept entering that I needed 61 booster seats. “Ongoing Charges without Authorisation 6 Months After Hire”

Everything went well at the hire desk, check out and check in not a problem - the car rental actually ended up going through Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a partner of Alamo. However 6 months since the hire I have had multiple amounts in the region of £42 taken off my credit card with absolutely no explanation.
