“Untrue Branch Manager - Bedfont”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MasterReviews on 16/02/2024

I had a courtesy vehicle provided by Fix Auto who arranged a rental with Enterprise location in Bedfont. Enterprise delivered the vehicle to my address, and I parked in in the garage. The next day, I proceeded to take the vehicle to work, and I had some issues with the vehicle and was concerned with its safety. Issue #1: Rear windscreen was wasn't working, I was unable to clean the window at all. Issue #2: Front Window wipers were leaving streaks on the window during heavy rainfall and the visibility was difficult to see properly. Issue #3: When shifting to 3rd gear from 2nd gear or from 4th gear to 3rd gear, the gearbox was "grinding" causing me to have concerns for my safety. I contacted Enterprise Bedfont and explained the issues and was informed that they didn't have availability for another vehicle and to call around other locations. I called Swindon Enterprise - they didn't have availability. I called Heathrow Enterprise - they didn't have availability. I called 2 other locations, and they were also booked out. I finally called Enterprise Slough and they were able to assist. They provided me a replacement vehicle, however due to the car being brand new, it had no petrol at all in the tank. The vehicle I was originally provided by Enterprise had 3/4 of fuel in the tank and I had filled it up as I was planning on using it, so when the car was returned, it was returned with a FULL tank of gas. I proceeded to fill the tank up on the new vehicle completely costing me £80 as I had intended to be driving to work. The Branch Manager from Bedfont called me to talk about the issues and apologized. He stated that he would reimburse me the fuel for the car and to keep my receipts. I returned the vehicle today to the Bedfont branch and spoke with the branch manager and he has refused to reimburse the 1 1/4 tank of fuel that Enterprise has now gotten for free. I ended up arguing with him and asked him to call his manager. I told him I wasn't leaving until I got my money back - which he promised me over the phone. The branch manager also indicated that the 1st vehicle provided had no problems with it - essentially calling me a liar - which infuriated me even more. I proceeded to call Enterprise Customer services to raise a complaint and I was told by the branch manager who was still being argumentative to move the car as it was blocking his business. I told him that I couldn't legally drive the car as I was on the phone with Enterprise making a complaint. The branch manager ended up calling the Police saying I was causing a commotion within the location, and I was blocking his business with HIS car. He even told the police that I had threatened to spill fuel all over the floor which was untrue. Long story short - I was driven home by the Police as a courtesy and I have not gotten my money back from this location. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

“Breakdown, exorbitant admin fee, poor communication”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Meganorec on 02/02/2024

I had a horrible experience with a rental car from Enterprise that was arranged through Aviva, the insurance claims management company of a driver who rear ended me, resulting in my vehicle being a total loss. My trouble started when my own insurance was cancelled, as I had no insurable vehicle. Since I provided my insurance information when I picked up the rental, I called Enterprise to make sure I was still covered for third-party liability. I was told I was not, and then made several calls to Aviva and my own car insurance since Enterprise suggested I should try to get my cancelled insurance extended, which was not possible. I called Enterprise again the next day, and after an employee consulted with someone else in the office, was told that Enterprise would "cover anything", though the communication was confusing and it is still not clear to me what policy I was being insured under and what would happen should I be in an accident that was my fault. My next problem occurred when my rental car broke down. The clutch went on the car, and though I was able to get it home, I had to then wait for the repair company that Enterprise contracted to come look at the vehicle, and eventually tow it. While the repair person was there, both he and I tried to call Enterprise to figure out what to do about getting me a vehicle so that I could get to work the next morning, but no one in the office answered the phone despite the office being open. This went on for about 45 minutes until we gave up. I called Enterprise later in the day and was told I could get a rental car the next morning, which was fine, but did ultimately result in my being late for work the next morning as I had to wait for Enterprise to open for the day. After my rental period was over and I returned the car, I started receiving parking fine notifications form Enterprise, with a hefty administration fee of £35 each (this is not the cost of the parking fee, it is just the administration fee that Enterprise charges for sending the issuing parking enforcement your contact information). These fines are from my workplace, where I have an annual parking pass. I've now received four of these administration fees, and received the first well over a week from the time it was issued. If I had been informed in a timely manner, I could have updated the parking office with my temporary registration plate information and avoided the additional fines. My workplace has waived the fees since I pay monthly for parking, and I have been trying to contact Enterprise to ask for the administration fees to be cancelled, by they have been very slow to communicate and are making it very difficult. They have insisted that I send them a "notice of cancellation" from the issuing authority, which is not my workplace, but a parking management company which does not publish contact information, so I have no way of contacting them. My bank has now identified the charges that Enterprise is making to my account as fraudulent, and I've lost access to my bank account.

“Terrible ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Buchanan344 on 20/12/2023

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Enterprise Car and Van Rental at the Bath Road Slough branch. The staff's attitude was rude, treating customers as if they were doing them a favor. Despite renting vans three times in a week and consistently returning them with more fuel than taken, on the last occasion, they charged me £50 from my deposit for a 3-mile petrol shortage. I had to go back to refuel within half an hour, or face additional charges. It's unacceptable, and I intend to call and inquire, though I anticipate a rude response. I'll also involve my credit card company. The lack of a review link when expressing dissatisfaction is disheartening. It's a shame for a company of their size to treat customers so poorly.

“Stay clear, they falsify documents to get more money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Egannp160 on 27/11/2023

Having recently rented a van for the weekend on returning the vehicle the member of staff pointed out areas of damage, 2 chips on the windscreen and an alleged cut in the tyre. Luckily I’d taken pics of chips prior to leaving, and the alleged cut was on the main area of tread and appeared to be from normal use and not a cut. I showed the rep the pics of the windscreen and argued the alleged cut was just through normal use. The rep refunded the £200 deposit and I left. 2 hours later I received a damage report for £2000. This included what I had shown on the pics. The tyre could easily have been there on collection but on inspection was on the part of the tyre on the ground. Without removed all the tyres it would have been impossible to see. What is more concerning is that they had falsely written my signature onto the damage report. This was apparently signed 15 mins after I had purchased a bus ticket to the train station. The signature can clearly be seen to be fake. At the moment the are refusing to engage other than to threaten me with me paying for the alleged damage I was absolutely shocked they had written my signature onto an official document. I would never use this company again, and would warn others of the risks through using them and the tricks they try. I will be reporting them for attempted insurance fraud

“My finance company searched the Internet for hire car...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Madison360 on 17/08/2023

My finance company searched the Internet for hire car while mine is 8n for repair. He found one for £217 so I booked it. On collection I was told I needed excess insurance of £25 pet day for the 7 days I need it for. My finance company are now looking into this and raising a complaint as they were paying for the hire due to me being a vulnerable customer. Enterprise pushing customers to take out expensive daily excess insurance cover

“Dangerous unroadworthy vehicles ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GeeReehal on 05/08/2023

Dangerous unroadworthy Vehicle I don’t even know where to start with Enterprise Safestore Self Storage Stockport what a shambles of a company and pass the buck attitude of the managers here is terrible. We was given a rental vehicle from this company as our vehicle was in for repair after a accident, so I was given Golf Reg KP69OSK that had been driven within an inch of its life, so all the issues with this vehicle that enterprise said was checked by the valeting company!! And given to us as a roadworthy courtesy car So Not a manger or trained member of enterprise staff to check to see if the vehicle was road worthy noooooo the valeting Guy!! The car had 2 completely bald illegal front tyres they had gone beyond the safe wear indicators, I have all the pictures for all of this, the rear shock absorbers rattled, a strange hissing noise from the rear, the car stank of cigarette smoke to the point your cloths smelt terrible after being in it for a few minutes. Steering column felt all loose The car rattled terribly and just in general sounded terrible, Like a vehicle that has not been maintained or looked after would be and that’s what I was given. I later found out it was a manger’s vehicle which makes it even worse as the last person who had it was driving around in a totally unroadworthy vehicle on 2 completely worn out ILLEGAL tyres and just remember this is a vehicle a enterprise manger had as his car then given on long term rental then given to me so you can imagine it’s been on illegal bald tyres for all this time and your telling me no one one checked the 4 thing that holds you to the road the tyres in all that time and in between rentals….Nope So in all That time no mechanic or someone trained to check the vehicle has safety inspected it as if they had it would never of been given to us as a rental vehicle. I want to know, if I had been stopped in that vehicle that Enterprise had given me as a road worthy safe vehicle who would have been fined and points……that would of been me or my wife for driving a unroadworthy vehicle in the first place and when I pointed this out to the manager she didn’t even acknowledge the issue the reply I got was we upgraded you to a better car but this isn’t the problem I would of been happy with any roadworthy vehicle a Micra or fiesta would of done as long as the vehicle was SAFE and Roadworthy. It’s not like I got upgraded to a Mercedes or BMW or a luxury vehicle for being given a dangerous vehicle it was just a basic bog standard Seat base model not exactly what I would call a upgrade for giving us a dangerous vehicle and the risk of all of this below if we had been stoped A bald tyre is a tyre that has worn down its tread so much that it no longer provides sufficient grip on the road. What is the penalty for having bald tyres? Driving with bald tyres is illegal in the UK and can result in a fine of up to £2,500 per tyre, as well as three penalty points on your driving license per tyre. So Enterprise would you of paid for the fines and points for giving me a dangerous unroadworthy vehicle…no it would of been my fault I’ve asked 2 coppers I have in my own family and he said that vehicle would of been taken off roadside and impounded as it should never of been on the road on that condition. And for all of this and the inconvenience of then having to go and swap the car myself even though the manager fully well knew the car should not be on the road and not road worthy at all did she offer to bring the replacement to me and swap it for a new one considering it’s there fault….NO I had to risk my license again and drive the golf down to swap it for a supposed upgraded vehicle No offer of swapping it so much for there slogan We'll pick you up." Joke Completely unacceptable standard of service from enterprise a dangerous unroadworthy vehicle, Check your own car to see if it is even safe enough to drive on the road as no one at Enterprise checks them apart from the valeting guy who is outsourced to a company you couldn’t make this up really that’s what happens at enterprise told to me by the manager her self. Check to see if your car is Roadworthy and Even Safe to be on the Road, what I was given was a joke and the upgrade was a joke and nothing of substance to put anything right at all NOTHING expected for the remark the Manager made to my wife that we got a upgrade lol It costs an extra £30 a day but it’s not like it was even an upgrade it what could be found on the day!! Very disappointed with a national company used by my insurance who have also been notified as it’s beyond a joke to be given such a Dangerous vehicle as a courtesy car from my insurance company. They have all the pictures and videos of all the faults so they can see just how dangerous the tyres on this car are BEWARE and Double check your rental vehicle to make sure it’s even safe enough to be on the Road!!

No but based on my experience and the reviews countrywide they are much the same, be very cautious if you decide to use them. Don't buy the extra insurance but check the car throughly before accepting, photograph any scrapes, scratches. Be 100% sure all existing defects are documented before accepting.

Not hired a car from Exeter branch, but as per my experience, do not rent any damaged car. If you are left with no option but rent, any dent, no matter how small, do take a picture and take it in writing to avoid further confrontation. Have a safe journey.

If you read the reviews you will see it seems to be almost standard practice by enterprise. I fought mine via my credit card company & won but it took 5 months to achieve. I will not be using enterprise ever again. They are a total disgrace.

From looking at this site it dors seem to be a lot of people are charged, however they are a very large worldwide company, when i had my problem in the uk with entrrprise i had no help at all from the birmingham airport office, so i phoned the U.S head office and within 24 hrs had the birmingham area manager on the phone with myself and the money returned within 48 hrs. . I have use enterprise uk since this at east midlands airport with no problems. From my experience i have used them in several uk airport locations all with first class service and no problems on return with the exception of birmingham airport where in my opinion the staff were rude un helpfull and just out to make a few pounds and would never use that office again. Hope this helps, and if you feel you were not in the wrong then dont give up

Avoid them if at all possible... watch out for huge hidden excesses as standard on their vans. The prices they quote do not include VAT or the extra money you'll need to reduce the excesses.

Without doubt the answer to your question is I very big fat NO. They will take the full excess off your car before you can even turn round. My experience with them was picking up the car at 11 at night so I couldn't inspect the car properly. On returning the car they accused me of damaging it, there was a silver graze on a silver car. How on earth can you see that in the dark. You could hardly see it in bright sunlight when I took it back & it was in a place where I couldn't figure out how you could cause damage, above the bumper & the bumper obviously projects out further than the body panel. I fought it via my credit card company & win but it took 5 months, read all the reviews in here about enterprise. It's very difficult to find positive ones. If you can, cancel your contract & hire with anybody else

They wouldn't refund ANYTHING, in fact they automatically took money for the damage from my card (as they had retained my details). This in spite of the fact that we had purchased insurance from them so we'd be covered against any damage. They are absolute charlatans, be careful if you choose to use them.
