“Unhelpful - credit card issues”

Pre-paid for a car in Italy and once arrived couldn't take the car as i didn't have a credit card. I've hired dozens of cars before and never needed one but Italy is an exception. It was pointed out that it was my fault that i had not read the terms and conditions. Fair point i suppose but don't take delight in my plight. Customer services were equally unforgiving. “Super Service!!#”

Super slow. Super unprofessional. Super unresponsive to customer needs. Each personnel passes on customers to another and when there is delay, their usual response is "I thought you were being helped by somekne else." I don't understand how they can be confused. There were only 3 of them and there were only 2 cuatomers. But still ai had to wait for an hour just to rent a dirty car. They really need to offer low low prices or else no one would rent from them. “Hertz stеals money!!!”

Me and my boyfriend rented a Hertz car for 6 day while we were in Portugal. At the counter we paid extra money 16 euros per day so that we would have a full coverage and insurance. They reserved money on our credit card in case we don't return the car with a full tank. When we returned they said that they will return the reserved money on the credit card within 24hrs. What they did 3 weeks after our holiday is charge extra 45 euros for nothing. We still don't know why they charged this money… Read Full Review

“No way to complain after being charged despise...”

I have cancelled my reservation with Hertz well on time but despise their website indicated it was cancelled when I checked many times before my flight I was charged! I tried to complain and ask for a refund but to no avail. There are no contact number or email to contact the company and complaint it is totally discusting. I am choked and angry! Hertz seems to find all ways possible to charge you without providing an explanation. Their representatives are unprofessional and uncordial. They are not helpful at all and are quite rude on the phone. Please do yourself a favor and use another car rental company!… Read Full Review

“Will never use again”

When we got to the counter, they wasted too much of our time trying to get us to upgrade the car we prepaid for on Priceline. Then, they gave us a car that could not seat 5 people, as advertised. We tried to make it work but it was impossible, unless someone wanted to sit on a cup holder in the back seat. We finally got them to give us a car that was as advertised. I booked a reservation to pickup a 7 passenger Van for a vacation with the guys to Fenway Park through AAA. “misleading product and bad customer service”

I was mislead by the sales person about the Fuel Purchase plan and was charged way more than what i was told. I had a reservation to rent a car from Hertz location in Elizabethtown, KY. First of all, my car was unavailable and I had to wait close to a hour for them to prep my car a refuel it. I dealt with it without complaining. The sales lady offered me the fuel purchase plan. Alicante airport, tried to make me buy extra insurance even though I had already paid for extra insurance for O excess in uk. On return the chap who checked the car found scuffs on both wing mirrors which must have been there before as I know that I did not do them. “Very bad trip with Hertz”

We rented a car from the Athens Hertz agency 12 Syngrou Avenue on 20th July 2014 and gave it back at Preveza airport on 26th July 2014. The bumpers on the car were full of scratches, but we were told not to worry. Those were taken into account by the marks on the car inspection paper. “Stay as far away from Hertz as you can”

Dealing with Hertz customer service reps is worse than having a tooth pulled out. You WILL end up with extra charges for your rental, that you did not approve, and when you try to speak with someone over the phone to get the issue resolved, they only deal by email, and only on their time. You will waste countless efforts trying to speak to someone, and when you ask to speak to the Office of the President, their answer is, "sorry, we don't have one." “Double-check the fine print”

Firstly, I will say that the disappointing Hertz experience was partly my fault. After specifically telling the desk clerk I didn't want the Hertz insurance cover, I signed the final rental contract without thinking to check whether they'd included it or not. “Completely disappointing and unacceptable”

I set this rental up in advance. I told them at least two different times that we wanted a full-size sedan, comparable to our Dodge Charger that was being repaired. They agreed and we set up a time for my wife to be picked up at the repair facility, which was less than one mile from their facility. “Never Ever Again”

I rented a car from Hertz on Aug 22 2014. First, at exit they gave me a rate that is different than what I booked online on Hertz website. Second, the vehicle had about 100,000 miles - interior was worn and dirty. Third, the transmission was shot -- made huge noise at higher speed @ 65 miles/hr. I stated I did not do it and was printed a receipt for 87 euro and told I would not be charged. Rent from another rental car company. I had a terrible experience in Veniceat the Marco Polo Airport. 1) Regarding the tank, it was not full. It was under the 'full' mark. That's neither here or there. There have been numerous times I have rented from Hertz in the past and when given the gas at the 3./4 tank, etc and I agree to fill, I usually overfill anyway as I can't gauge when the tank is full at the gas station. “Hidden extras tripled online quote - but £70 to cancel. ”

I have to give a rating to submit this review, but I would not give Hertz a single star if I didn't have to. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. We don't normally use a hire car, but our own car developed a fault the evening before we had to travel 200 miles to look after our grandson for the night, so we looked online to see how much car rental would be and whether there were any locally that could provide us with a car.
