I recently had to rent a car, because a strong hailstorm totaled mine. I had a very good experience. Everything went well, quick, the car was clean and smelled good. The staff was professional and very kind. The pick up did not take long, everything was as promised. I even extended the rental. The return was just as easy. I recently hired a car in George Best Belfast with Hertz through their website. I used their services before in other countries without any problem. Unfortunately on this occasion, it did not went well. On the day of the pick up, they now show you camera pictures of the car, that don't show anything and make you sign the report. You should try ECrent.com, the largest global rental platform. You can easily find cheap and reliable cars for rent there.

“dishonest and non ethical in dealing be aware HERTZ ”

i had taken a car from porto airport and after 4 days same time gave the car back at lisbon airport. everything was paid by my travel agent. I had taken the car at 10 52 am and 4 days after that i gave the car at 11.00 am same time. innocently i was not aware of it as i had to catch a flight to india. the rental guy kept me and my wife and child waiting with out luggage for 25 mins and they gave me voucher for 93 euros to be paid. when i inquired what was it regarding they said one time charge… Read Full Review

I hired a car from Hertz in Dublin for 8 days,I initially thought I had gotten a bargain,none of it,because I was picking up the car in Dublin and returning it to Shannon,I was charged a "ONE WAY"fee of 44.05 Euros and another fee called a"LOCATION SERVICE CHARGE" of 35.24 Euros,so that's an extra of 79.29 Euros. We reserved a car in Hurst Texas (Dallas area) and received confirmation number. We went to pick up the car, no car. They said because of the Hail Damage in the Dallas area, they gave our car to the local people. Our call to Hertz main office was also useless. “Appalling customer service”

I hired a car and returned it 30/03/2016. A scratch was found on the wing mirror that we were oblivious to but, as the car had been in our possession, we agreed to cover the cost. Hertz have taken almost double the amount we authorised in payment and when I contacted Customer Service I was told that they would not look into it for me. First walked in to get a rental car at the battleground Greensboro location,which my insurance company was paying for since I was getting mine fixed only thing I had to do was pay a security deposit (service fee) the guy acted like he had no idea what he was doing. “Excess cheats at Alicante airport.”

Easy collection but checking out was a different matter. Initial inspection of vehicle was carried out under difficult lighting conditions but for the final inspection a torch was used on every detail. Though no incidents occurred during our hire a slight mark on a wing mirror was found, barely visible but noted as "damage". This on a car which had previous scrapes patched by hand with white paint. Got car delivered by very grumpy member of staff, had already filled in paperwork for car and when we checked had entered less mileage than was on the mileometer. When we asked for the car to be collected it sat outside in the rain for three days before the same grumpy member of staff collected it and told us that it was dirty and would need a valet. “Greensboro Airport Rental”

I recently rented a Chevy Malibu from Hertz for the day while traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina. I returned the vehicle without incident. I was notified 11 days later that there was damage to the vehicle and I was responsible. This was news to me since when I returned the car, the agent inspected it and did not notice any damage. Beware! Do not use if you want to return home to extra charges on your credit card! Three months later and I still have no explanation as to why or any sign of my money being returned! Their customer service is terrible - they do not care that they have stolen money. Upon return of the vehicle, employee named Davon accused us of having our dog in the car. It was made clear from rental pick up this was not acceptable and we complied. We have a Yorkie, which is a breed that doesn't shed. He stated the "car smelled like dog and there was dog hair all over the seat and floor mat". I am asking for the Hertz refund. From the first day I called the customer service (Feb. 1) and they gave me the other phone number about the billing information. I have already called another 5 times about my refund. Hertz delayed, delayed and delayed again. Telling me need 7 business days,and then another 7-10 days. Thinking hertz was a reputable company I didn't bother to read any reviews- how I wish I had! Like many others it has ended up costing far more than it should have done. They have so many hidden charges and cannot justify/explain how they arrive at such excessive admin charges! Similar thing happened to me.
Rented a car from Thrifty Car Hire (A Hertz Brand)
at Cork Airport Ireland and I was had to buy CDW and Theft insurance as the Lady behind the desk insisted that they were not included in the base rental price.
I showed her Thrifty's T&C policy where it clearly stated that CDW and Theft insurances were included in the base price of all Rentals in Europe! She still refused to release the Car to me unless I bought CDW and Theft From her.
In the end I had to pay an extra £400 approx which ruined my Christmas Holiday visiting my relatives. I will never use the Hertz group again nor will any of my friends or Family.

That's disgusting and even when you try to get some satisfaction from their customer services you are totally wasting your time. Frightening thing is hertz seem to own other car rental companies too

“Beware hidden costs that make Hertz super expensive”

I booked online and thought £31 for a 2-day hire of a tiny car was a fair price. I was horrified when the total cost was actually £82. Beware insurance cover (2 days for £38), debit card fee £5, location service charge £10, vehicle licence fee £2.60, day charge £6.83 per day, tax at 20% £13. Petrol was extra. “Ripped right off”

I was late for my flight. I left the car without refuelling. Hertz charged me £150 to fill a little Dacia Duster. READ every little box they ask you to tick. My upfront rental was £35. They charged me £290. Do NOT trust Hertz - check EVERY tick box. Never take their insurance. I took an upgrade from a Corsa - they gave me a DACIA Duster which had 25,000 odd miles on the clock and felt it. If you know DACIA's they have the VERY LEAST in accessories of ANY car in the world.
