“Poor customer service”

After hiring a car in Milan in mid-October for 4 days, I have finally received an unsatisfactory response to my complaint over 3 months later (in January 2015). Excess insurance was taken out, but according to Hertz a gear box issue was my liability (after just 20 minutes of driving, mainly on a highway). “Hertz South Africa”

We live in UK but rented direct with Hertz, Jo'burg for 4 weeks in Dec 2014 because they were quite a bit cheaper than quotes through websites. Got a virtually new car with new tyres, which, having a good tread, probably saved us getting stuck in mud several times. Unfortunately we scraped the bumper and I expected an exaggerated repair bill for a complete new bumper, but in fact just got charged £90 plus £30 admin. “Not to be trusted”

I rented a car with Hertz The Hague (NL) to be returned at Amsterdam airport during closing time (key drop-off box). The price was agreed beforehand (online booking) but after returning they charged me an extra fee, out of the blue and without any explanation. I reserved a vehicle days before and was not informed on the credit check they will have to run. Upon my arrival I was in a hurry to make it to work thought I could hhave picked up the car only to be turned away because of a credit check that they never informed me about! “Appalling service and dreadful car”

I hired a car to tour northern Israel. I picked up the car in Haifa. The staff were extremely unhelpful. The girl at the desk was more interested in answering her mobile phone than dealing with us. I was not given any information about the controls on the car and had to ask how to select drive (the car was an automatic). The car was dreadful. It would not change from 2nd to 3rd gear easily or from 3rd to 4th. I spent most of the time driving round in 3rd gear which was unbelievably irritating… Read Full Review

“Nasty and discusting”

Rented vehicle from the In house sight at Crest Collision Center in Nashville Tn, they asked me to sign a release to not smoke in the car or have pets since I don't do either that was not a problem. The car I received reeked of smoke so bad that I requested another vehicle,only to realize I should have kept the original rental. “NEVER RENT FROM HERTZ”

I will never rent from Hertz again. I had booked a rental in February 2014 for a rental car for December 26, 2014 through to January 1, 2015. When I arrived at the Orlando Airport Hertz desk they had to rental cars left. We were forced to upgrade due to having a wedding to get to. I have the similar experience with you at the LA airport hertz, we were forced to upgrade because the car they provide at that level was a very small one which was not we reserved. And also a lot of customers waiting there, but they only have very few working staff. We waited for 40 minutes there!

“Dishonest Hertz staff ”

I hired a car from Hertz at their Belfast International Airport desk. I advised the salesperson in no uncertain terms that I didn't want any additional extras over and above what I had clearly stated I wanted. Upon returning from holiday I noticed that Hertz had taken extra money from my bank account and to cut a very long story short the salesperson at the Belfast desk had added on an extra insurance policy that I didn't want. “Hertz? Avoid at all cost!”

I rented a vehicle (2013 Avenger) on the 22nd of December 2014 in San Francisco from O'Farrell Street HLE at approximately 10.21 a.m. When I booked the vehicle, I booked it for three days, planning to return it on the 24th of December 2014. “Bad customer service”

Hertz at the charlotte airport is horrible. Car was not clean, spots on the floor. If you rent make sure you make note of everything about the cars. Something was missing at the front of the hood. Asked for another car an only got excuses. Staff is not friendly. How do you have people working customer service that act like you did something wrong by simply showing up. “Old filthy rental car”

I recently rented a mini van in SF. It was filthy, had 51k+ miles and the rear seat belts had been chewed through by some sort of animal. When we brought the problem to the attention of the check in person they weren't any help. To make it worse the next week we rented another mini van in SV Idaho only to find out there wasn't any windshield washer fluid in the van. “No customer service ”

I picked up the car with 5/8 of a tank of gas. Was asked if I wanted to pay $2.90 a gallon I declined. Gas is $2.50 gallon why pay them more. I took the car back with the meter just above the half tank mark. They told me I was short of the 5/8 and 'read' it as me owing them 4 gallons of gas at $9.65 a gallon. The service person was shouting at me when I said I wouldn't mind paying for a gallon but 4 was ridiculous. I will never use Hertz again. And if word of mouth is advertising guess… Read Full Review

“Not recommended”

The car wasn't very clean. The gas was 3/8 of a tank. This wasn't the first time. Hertz uses this trick so they can gain money from gas. It was very hard if not impossible to bring back the car with exactly the same amount of gas if the gas wasn't full. Most likely the gas would be more than it was before when people brought back the cars. Hertz will charge the customers if they return the cars with less gas than when they picked it up, but Hertz never give refund if the customers return the… Read Full Review

“Do not trust Hertz Italia”

My husband and I were on a two week honeymoon to rural Tuscany and we booked Hertz joint with a Ryanair flight as it was the best deal at the time. What a mistake! when we went to pick up the car, which we paid extra to upgrade to, it was covered in big scratches and damage on the bumper, which was mentioned in the paperwork. “Be careful when using HERTZ”

I had pre-booked Hertz for an airport pickup in Atlanta. After a long-haul flight arriving early evening. I had chosen them as a company that I thought incorrectly that I could trust, silly me! On arrival I handed my prepaid form and was quickly acknowledged and given a form to sign; the whole process taking no longer than ten minutes which I appreciated at the time as I was tired after the flight.
