Can I give Hertz no stars?? Wish that was an option!!! We have a confirmed reservation with Hertz to see our daughter, who is in the military with a 48 hour pass. Hertz didn't apparently have any cars in the entire state and after getting the runaround for 8 hours, we have finally given up. Don't use Hertz!!! “Unsafe car”

On the 1st July I picked up my hire car from Malaga airport.15 minutes after leaving the airport my car broke down on the motorway,the clutch had completely gone.i phoned the 24 hour assistance line,where no one answered.luckily the local police came along and helped me,and rung somebody.two hours later a recovery wagon came to collect me.i had to go back to the airport, to a compound owned by hertz,at the back of the airport.i then had to wait again for a lift to the airport terminal to… Read Full Review

New customers check the petrol, what they write down is not what they give you, hoping you will not check when you pick up the car. most car hire companies give an empty tank and you bring back an empty tank. when I took the car from Hertz Rabat airport it had a quarter and when I asked them about it they said its ok not to worry about it. In a recent trip to Aix-en-Provence my wife and I were offered an upgrade at the pick-up point in Nice for "no additional charge". When the bill arrived we were charged an additional €100 +vat, for something that we had not even asked for. The company stands by its additional charge, which I consider unethical and disgraceful. WARNING Hertz Portugal is systematically bad: The staff barely spoke English, beyond the repeated 'sign here! sign here!'). In sum, I was talked into signing to pay a total of € 623, 23 for the rental (that had been pre paid for a third of that amount). (It's hard to negotiate with non-English-speaking staff when you have tired children, heavy suitcases and are due to board a flight.) If I could, I would give ZERO stars. My German friend booked a car online via a third party, requesting a GPS. She had flown in from Germany with limited English knowledge. “Worst Experience of my life”

Hertz in Cyprus was the worst experience of my life. I rented a car for 3 weeks. The gears were faulty and I nearly got into an accident. They then replaced the car with a very dirty car but insisted on getting a gas tank that was 100% full despite the fact that the only reason I was there was because it was a faulty car. I rent a vehicle from Hertz in Missoula , Mt. When I turned the vehicle in I reported two small chips or "stars" in the windshield. I reported this to my American Express premium car rental Ins. The repair , loss of use for two days came to $110. which AMEX paid. Unfortunately these car rental companies now use collection agencies such as Purco to collect the fees. Used Hertz pre paid on line. What they dont tell you is when you arrive they want another 124 euro or more to cover your "Excess" of 600 euro, which they take a "deposit" for off your credit card. Use Auto Reisen much better attitude. Then, child car seat. They don't install it. Excuse me, but accidents happenened and my child is not safe because you think you don't need to train your employees. Keep in mind that HERTZ has a “daughter” in all SPAIN having the name FIREFLY. They are the best thefts, in car hiring, allover the country. I had the same problems while in GIRONA. My advise stay away from them and publish to any known forum or tell your “story” to all around you

Do not rent a vehicle from Hertz. Their staff CANNOT BE TRUSTED with your CREDIT CARD DETAILS. Having rented a small car for 4 days from the GENEVA TRAIN STATION branch of Hertz (through Autoeurope and Dollar as brokers) I returned the car at the arranged time during normal open hours (this happened to be Sunday 13:00) - no one was there to receive the car - they were taking an extended lunch break and left a note on the branch door saying to leave keys in box. charges way too much security deposit compared to some others, and that's just the start.... I booked online through a rental car site that compiles the best deals in the surrounding area, allowing you to choose the cheapest and best option. They told me it would be faster if I went for the speed gas return.(no explanation) I brought the car back with over 3/4 tank full and got charged $48 to fill the tank. Collected a car from Toronto Pearson aiport and requested full CDW & GPS. Having booked the car through Holiday Autos at a reasonable cost, the additions amounted to £400. I tried to obtain a price for full CDW prior to collecting the car and phoned through to the Canadian head office.I was told CDW rates varied and they could not indicate what the additional cost would be.
