Totally impossible to make telephone contact with them despite leaving 7 or 8 messages saying that I had a problem about the car that I had hired from Avis. Never again even though I am a Preffered Member. I wished to upgrade my car as I had extra people arriving unexpectedly. Only way to do it was to drive to the airport over an hour away to try and speak with them. Not good enough. “Speachless. ”

I ended up renting three cars in 7 days. First car was all my fault had keyless car didn't take the key with me. Had no ideal was keyless car when I got it was already started. I am taking my son 15 hours to school packed an ready to go. So after realize 5 hour into the trip. It took Avis 12 hours to get me another car. Then this wasn't the same car was half the size. We rented a car through Norwegian Airlines to pick up in Malta. Our paperwork clearly stated that we had paid a late fee for pick up so we were pretty upset when they charged us 15euro for a late fee. We paid it and thought we needed to go back to Norwegian. Second they also tried to charge us for the full rental of the car which we were sure we had paid. I agree. It's actually really annoying to have to give Avis even one star. I cannot believe anyone still uses them. Dreadful service and so many hidden costs.

“Avis car rental”

I rented a 4x4 from Avis in Denver Colorado and dropped it back at Las Vegas just over two weeks later. Upon picking it up I noticed a small crack in the windscreen and pointed this out to staff at Denver ; they confirmed it was ok and not to worry. Over the duration of the holiday this crack grew and ended up over 18 inches in length ( bearing in mind the temperature changes from freezing to hot desert ). “Just buy another car”

Truck was in the shop and I needed another car. So, I went to avis. I know now it would just be cheaper to buy another car. A $500 rental turned into a $1200 charge. I did the weekly rental and was asked to add the $27 insurance and figured it was the weekly charge, I was wrong it was the daily charge. I was charged more from the insurance than I was for the rental of the car. I tried to contact the Avis where I rental the car, the only thing they could do is send me the receipt. I arranged from Britain to hire a car from Lyon Airport, France. Agreed terms with an agent on the telephone in Britain, was sent a confirming email, but on taking delivery of the car the price had increased by nearly 50%. Avis simply did not apply what had been agreed, extra items even including contributing towards the car registration! Beware when you sign the contract. Make sure you get a copy and read everything that you sign. Even though you dont ask for insurance, satellite radio, and any weird fine that they make it up. They will try to add without your consent. Don be fooled to pay anything. fight against them and make sure that they dont get any penny out of you. “Don't use Avis in Miami beach”

We got married in Miami beach in November and I phoned around the various car rental firms to get a Mustang convertible car for a couple of days. This proved difficult but Avis Miami beach said they had a car. I asked if they were sure they had a Mustang and they said yes they had either a Mustang or a Camero. I hired a car from Avis in Church Langley Harlow for just 24 hours, 10am Saturday to 10am Sunday I paid £51 including extra insurance, on collecting my car, on a Saturday morning, I checked the car, a Peugeot 208, thoroughly on my own as there was no one to go over it with me l, then had to present my credit card where I had to pay a further £70 deposit with the promise that it would be returned from midnight the next day. I have had very similar experiences....any excuse they can for additional costs, customer service number's not working.....the consumer experience is dreadfull

If you want to be cheated rent a car from AVIS Gran Canaria in Spain. I took a car in Fuerteventura from this company and: 1) they charged my credit card for additional 86 Euro two days after returning the car for "special cleaning service" because "there were a lot of sand inside" 2) On delivering the car they "forgot" to include a portable GPS which I had booked and I had to call them back if I did not want to be charged for losing it. If you are thinking of using AVIS ...........DON'T!!!! Recently hired a car through Avis at Bari airport in Italy. Had a car booked through my travel agent to collect at Vancouver Downtown. The office was full of people waiting to get cars, the staff worked at a snails pace and despite the long queues still wandered off to take their coffee breaks. The "manager" appeared from time to time but did absolutely nothing to help the situation, he seemed to think the ridiculous queue was perfectly acceptable. Booked online and paid fully in advance. Dropped the car back to Alicante airport, asked for receipt, lady at reception produced this and advised no extra charges as I had paid up front. I booked a large estate (Passat or Imdignia) from Enterprise. When I went to college t it yesterday morning they'd messed up and put me down for a saloon. They were no large estates at the repair or elsewhere. After a few calls I walked to Avis. They provided a C4 Grand Picasso at a special rate. It cost more than a Passat at Enterrprse ax the waiver wasn't cheap, but it was still £50 off their normal price. also impressed that the deposit was simply a full tank of fuel. I arrived at Gatwick airport, having travelled as a lone parent with 2 daughters, 2 & 4. I had pre-paid for my booking, giving flight details, which were on my confirmation voucher. my flight was delayed by about 40 minutes, when I arrived at thee Avis collection desk it was closed.
