“Great Service from Avis Atlanta Car Rental”

We had great service when we collected our rental vehicle - even letting us try out a few different intermediate SUVs to see which one was easier for me to get into. I'm a wheelchair user so have problems when car seats are too high. On our return I needed to get to the international terminal via accessible shuttle bus and this can mean a very long wait. “Master rip-off ”

I am having nightmare dealing with AVIS - Inverness airport. I picked-up a car on 10.20PM and called them back to repot a clutch problem on 10.40PM. I am an expereiecned driver and drove manual car for more than 10 years and would not ride the clutch. They towed the car back. Few days later, end up getting charged £1912 on my credit car without any intimation. Some existing problem elevated or it could be just aging of the cluth for which I ended up to pay. Firstly, send a recorded letter to Avis and the Credit card company requesting a refund, stating they have 30 days.

If they do not reply, or refuse, send them both a LETTER BEFORE CLAIM (Google it ). Companies often refund at this point because thy know you are not bluffing. The Letter MUST be set out correctly!

If they do not reply within the timescale or refuse, start a claim in the Small Claims Court, naming BOTH as defendants.

You don't need a solicitor to represent you, and the judge is used to hearing people put their own case.

“They need to try harder, and treat customers fairly”

I would NEVER recommend this company for car hire. Flew into San Diego Airport in August 2014 for a vacation with my wife. The car hire had all been arranged before we travelled. I had also arranged and paid for additional insurance, so I wouldn't need to take out any once there. However, when uplifting the car I was asked to 'sign' (using small PDA's) the contracts. Exactly similar experience at same date at Orlando Int. Airport.
Insurance made the price almost double. At the desk there wasn't any mention about the extra price.
Now I'm trying to get help through Avis Finnish customer service, which seems to worth of nothing.
That was my last rental at any Avis.

“rip off avid”

Hired a car in the USA last summer. This had been booked via British Airways. The agent on the desk lied to us twice and we have ended up paying an additional $450 for a Ford focus hybrid when the original agreement was for a Ford Focus or similar. They only had a smaller car and as we were there for five weeks we needed a reasonable size. we were assured twice that the vehicle did not require additional payment. “Avoid this car hire in Larnaca”

It took the Avis car shuttle three quarters of an hour to finally get us to the car hire office, one person on the desk, shocking state when it took nearly thrirty five mins to deal with one car hire. The car we Hired wasn't too bad, on handing it back, the girl checked it over and made sure there was a full tank of petrol then signed off our paperwork. All well! “Charged for a rental that I didn't make”

I was a regular business user with Avis. But then once while I was away on vacation they decided to deliver a car and charge me for it. Despite me telling them that I had not made the booking they still went ahead and made the delivery and charged the rental to me. “Overcharge”

Returned to an office outside of business hours as I was told I could do. I was subsequently charged an extra day because Avis claim the car was returned 24 hours later than it was. 5 months later and I've been refunded after involving .bvrla but Avis are apparently still claiming that their records are correct. They don't send an invoice so unless you notice the credit card charge is high, you'll never know. Oh, and it takes them 2 months to reply to any contact. AVOID AT ALL COSTS… Read Full Review

I am DISGUSTED with the service of Avis from top to bottom. Upon making a rental agreement at Uluru on the 17th of December, I was handed a receipt, which is apparently a useless document, which stated the rental would only cost $106 aside from the charges for kilometres exceeding 100 and a charge of $4 per litre of fuel that Avis themselves had to refill. “APPALING CUSTOMER SERVICE”

THE ACTUAL ARRAGING OF THE CAR AND STAFF THAT GREETED US IN CYPRUS WERE ALL VERY PLEASAT AND THE ISSUE ONLY AROSE ON RETURN FROM MY HOLIDAY. I hired a car in February 2014 from Nice airport. I had prepaid but when I got to the front of the queue, I was told that they would upgrade me at no extra charge so because I had queued for so long and I was in a hurry, I accepted and just signed the document. when I got home and received the final receipt I found that they had charged me 1000 Euros more than the prepaid cost and the car was hardly any bigger anyway. “Terrible experience with Avis Spain”

Terrible experience! Don't use Avis. In October 2014 I hired a car for two days from Avis in Madrid. I was planning to drive from Madrid (Atocha) to Asturias and drop off in Oviedo at a cost of 252 Euros. On the second day leaving Salamanca it broke down while diving on the highway. “Avis Basingstoke are excellent”

I've now rented from Avis in Basingstoke about a dozen times, and can't speak highly enough of the service I've always had. I first chose them because their pricing was reasonable and they were just round the corner from work. They moved locations a couple of years ago, but I've stayed with them because their service has always been so good. “Charged $300 extra”

I booked with Avis online for a car in Norway. The price I booked at was $497 Canadian. When I got there, they told me that two types of insurance, the Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection, are mandatory at that location. They said I would have to pay $200 more dollars. When I got home, I checked my credit card statement, and I was charged $802 Canadian dollars. So, from $500 to $800. I feel so sorry for people when I read reviews like this. I and many, many others have written so many reviews trying to warn people about this rip-off company, but unless you check the review sites you'll never know.

Avis trades on being a well-known name, so people think it must be reliable, trustworthy. Anyone who rents from Avis takes a huge financial risk, and even more so in European countries with the 'language barrier' (how handy), and the fact that they know there is little you can do once you return home.

My sympathies.

We hired a car for a road trip between San Francisco and Denver. We had a VW Passat 2013 model, which I was generally very happy with. However, no user manual was included with the car, which would have been useful to work out certain features such as how to open the fuel gauge (not owning a modern car back home we were unfamiliar with the design had to Google it to work it out!). This has been the third time within a short time that we received a dirty car. It hasn´t only been dirty , it was sloshy all over. One could hardly see thnrough the windows. Booked through B.A. own site , oddly cheaper than booking direct. No problem with car , no fuel scam , we took option of having a full tank and returning with full tank. There is a fuel station by Holiday Inn on Atticca avenue [ motorway going away from airport ] Car was marked with slight damage here and there but we were told it was no problem but took pics anyway. returned car , no problems at all.
