From arriving at the avis desk to leaving in a car took an hour and a half !!. The car was pre booked so shouldn't have been a problem. After 'tip tapping' away at the computer for 45 minutes it was eventually decided that a car in my group would shortly becoming available. Told to wait outside. Car eventuality appears. “Unfair treatment ”

I have a bad experience with Avis car rental in Nice, France. I had waited for 15 mins then the woman called Karine told me that her desk is closed now and that I needed to go to another terminal to get my car. I told her that she can't let me wait for 15 mins and tell me to go. She said no and insisted that I have to go to another terminal. “Poor service”

I've used Avis in the past and always been happy. On this occasion it was different. When picking a car up in LA (lax) After waiting for an hour I had to deal with a member of staff who's attitude was so poor I just cannot explain. It wasn't just the member of staff I was dealing with either. All staff were like they were on a go-slow in some kind of protest and rude to all customers. I hired an Avis car through the BA website for a recent trip to Milan. On arriving in Milan and having completed the documents, I was directed to the car (though unaccompanied by Avis staff) and was told to come back to the office if there was any damage on the car. The car was sandwiched between cars in a multi-storey car park with poor lighting. I was unable to view the sides of the car clearly though the front and back were okay. I walked in off the street and hired a car, a Renault Clio, at Avis, Place Massena, Nice, France, on 23 June 2015. I drove about 150km, and filled the car with fuel before returning it. The fuel gauge needle didn't register full. I pulled in to a garage closer to the drop-off point, and added more fuel again myself, so I know that the car was registering full at the pump, which was less 5km from the drop-off point. Booked a car via our holiday company - Avis charged us for an 'upgrade' to the same car that we had originally booked! On discovering this I had to deal with Avis' UK Customer Care team (based in Budapest...) - they regularly put me on hold for up to 20 minutes, cut me off, made promises to put me through to a manager / or get a manager to call me back - they never did. “Shady employees at the Orlando airport ”

Booked a car through Expedia. When we got to the counter the employee told me the car we booked wouldn't fit my family ( 3 of us) 2 adults and a toddler. So he went to give us an upgrade. Well he didn't mention I'd have to pay and extra $20 a day. Now I have a charge of $240.15 and Avis will not take the charge off my account. “Poor Cars Misleading Information”

I hired a car from Avis booked through Car Trawler for a Florida holiday in June 2015. I booked a Ford Escape but got a Kia Sportage which is a very poor "equivalent". The car was not clean and had numerous small damages on it. I was missold Roadside Assistance which I was told I did not have which I later found out was incorrect. After no response after more than 3 days I rang to find out what was going on to be told the car had been declined. No reason given, no e-mail sent, no reasonable alternative offered. We rented a car from Avis through Qantas, as we would earn additional points. We rented the car from Avis at OR Tambo International, we were given the car keys, but no representative/employee accompanied us to the car to check for any damages. You as the driver must check yourself. We did not think of checking or feeling or checking UNDER the bumper for damages, and were not told to do so. We booked our hire car through an internet booking site, paid in full with full insurance cover. On arrival we dealt with the usual paperwork and signing and we were asked for a credit card in the drivers name for pre authorisation. I booked this on line from rentalcars.com. I was looking for something intermediate, for the two of us, two backpacks one large and one medium case. I was also looking for picking up in Poitiers and dropping off at Marseille airport. “Appalling Company - Money Grabbing - DO NOT USE”

I hired a vehicle online, when I went to collect the vehicle they told me I was on the Do not rent list! Due to an error with the previous rent! 7 days later and they have still not refunded my £250!! This is absolutely appalling. I have called customer services 4 times to be told it was refunded last week, then it was refunded 2 days ago and now they are saying It was refunded today. I would certainly recommend anyone to stay away from Avis. It appeared to be a good deal when I booked the car, but now I understand where their profits come from. First of all, I booked an Audi A3 and got stuck with a really crappy Fiat 500 Living. Worst car I've ever driven. After returning the car with a full tank (I filled the tank at the airport gas station right before returning it), my credit card got charged €48 a week later without any notice or explanation. “Car rent rip off at Avis Barcelona airport”

i upgraded from Fiat Panda to a Audi A4 diesel and paid for 9 days € 810. I arrived wit a delay of 4 hours and 1 hour waiting at the Avis counter. I said yes to all insurances and co-rider extra was € 110 ! Full tank € 72 but you had to return the car with an empty tank. So I only used 1/3 so paid € 72 for that. Rest is profit for Avis!! Avis's customer service is an absolute disgrace. I am in a dispute with this company over a payment (they actually want £450 for a 2cm scratch to one of their alloys) Firstly they took the money off of my credit card without my permission - at the time of the damage they said if I signed the receipt they would take the money off my credit card - I didn't sign it and they still took the money off my card.
