After owning a Generac 4675-2 15KW Residential fixed generator for my home it quit working after 5 years of ownership. The unit was operational for only 5 full days over the 5 year period. The Stator must be replaced and the breather valve needs replacing. Total cost of repair = $2400. Cost of new unit $3800 less $1000 credit for old unit. The installer, calls my Generac unit a boat anchor. He indicated that there were numerous problems with this unit and that Generac will not stand behind the unit. He's right. I just got off the phone with Generac. They will offer NO assistance toward the repair or replacement of this unit. The warranty period on these units is too short. With 1 or 2 major power outages each year, the unit operates only 1 to 2 days max per year.

Our unit was not operational more than 5 total days in 5 years. Even so, the unit never completed a power outage without the need for servicing. These units are highly unreliable. In fact, this is the most unreliable piece of equipment I have owned in my live.

This is a new Generac/Guardian 04456-1 LP, within the first week the starter quit working. I called generac and they said it was a standby generator and since I was not hooked to the grid it was not covered under warranty. I have a complete solar system and the generator would only be used when we have a number of cloudy days but that didn't matter "NO WARRANTY"Starter keeps going out, radiator blew out, now it's very erratic in power and running. After 6 months the starter has been replaced ...

Failed after warranty period. Generac would not cover. For more details, see http://dontbuygenerac.home.comcast.net Do yourself a favor and do not do business with Generac.

The two cylinder motors on the Generac/Guardian 04456-1 LP are destined to fail, since the spark plugs in cylinders one and two do not burn evenly, this leads to a compression loss in cylinder number one, which eventualy leads to a blown motor.

The voltage barriers supplied with the external connection boxes are of inferior quality, and either break or disintigrate, without any pressure or over-torqueing, and this is a life-threatening situation, since these connection boxes enclose the high- ...
