The comments below repeat most of the good points of this robust phone however....for those looking to buy one second hand, by 2011 standards its very think, bulky and heavy. Has many useful features but is missing at least 2 very important basic functions such as ability to copy phone book to SIM and NO INTERNAL LOUDSPEAKER!. So cant be used hands free. The Samsung D500 is a really good phone I like it very much.. the one and only bad thing is it only has 96 mb to share between photos, video, MMS, MP3 files and doesn't have a card slot that I know off. It's very durable and you have the sound mate mini external speaker which is good. (read more)

I just thought I would let people who are thinking of buying a second hand D500, just how good they really are. I use mobile phones as a prime communication tool during my normal working day and not as a fashion item or toy and I can honestly say that I have used in excess of 15 to different models of phones over the years and this is by far the best.
I have just had to change to Sony W910i which if you read my review on that you will see that I am not impressed.

All up? I love it! Disregard all those knockers who won't be satisfied until a Samsung employee feeds them grapes while another dials the numbers for them. It's sturdy, stylish, feature-packed and a few admittedly quite bewildering shortcomings aside (WHY CAN'T IT RING AND VIBRATE AT THE SAME TIME??????) I love it to bits and you probably will too.

Everything else about it is great. It looks good, feels good, is durable and solid, good reception. Unlike the D900 the screen does not crack when you sign on it a bit to heavily. Great stuff, more of these please Samsung. (read more)

When I first got this phone I was ecstatic. I thought it was sexy, small, and would last me for ages. The phone's interface is an extremely basic one consisting of nice clean and tidy menus and buttons but with no room for personalisation. You could change the wallpaper, however, it had a tendency to crop the pictures. It is easy to find your way around the phone and it is pretty fast so does tend to keep up with you when using it. It's now perhaps quite obvious that I speak in very high esteem of both Samsung and this particular model. The design, reliability, service and quality are, so far, unmatched to me. Basically, if you want a smart, neat phone which can last you for a few years then this phone is ideal.
There aren't many clever or inventive features to this phone apart from the screensaver which has a brilliant way of showing if you have had a message etc. This particular feature makes this phone twice as good.

I have owned the Samsung D500 mobile phone for about 3 months now. It is a good all round phone with good memory, excellent quality 1.3 Mega Pixels camera with Zoom and video player, excellent voice recorder that can record for 1 hour, the colour display is also top quality, and there is enough memory to store loads and loads of pictures and a very good MP3 player to listen to your tunes on.

The Samsung D500 is a really gorgeous phone. I love it soooo much, and I have had loads of other phones so I would know. Honestly, this phone is so lovely I would choose it over practically any other phone. It is way better than its more popular sister (The Samsung E370), because the E370 breaks so easily (the slider part).

The Samsung D500 kicks all the other mobile phones out, even in July 2006 this is one of the best phones ever, and it is way better than the D600. It has awesome bluetooth. It looks stylish, and it has kept its value, while the D600 has dropped dramatically. You have got to get it.

MMS with the Samsung D500 or any phone may not work if you haven't received the settings. To do this, just go on the menu then (applications) and right down the bottom (on O2) there is an O2 icon with a star next to it. Go on that, then right down the bottom again is a Get Settings icon. Just click on that then wait for the text to come through (via text) and a pin etc., then once installed, your internet and MMS should work. (read more)

The Samsung D500 is the worst mobile phone I have ever owned! Usually I will keep my mobile until it dies, but I'll be replacing this as soon as the 12 months are up.
The phone randomly decides that you are not allowed to answer an incoming call. Open the slider and the phone keeps ringing. Push buttons and the phone keeps ringing. I got the Samsung D500 mobile phone for Christmas and I can't believe that when I first dropped it, about 2 weeks after Christmas, it just fell to pieces. It has many good features that include an MP3 player, video recording and playback, and animated screensavers. If you wear jeans, as I do often, it's really hard to get out of the pockets. The Samsung D500 is a good mobile phone until it starts messing up. It looks and feels good, and it takes good videos, but I wouldn't recommend it.
The up button jams after a while, and the OK button stops working. The screen goes funny on a lot of them, although I have to say, they did replace it very quickly. But it's not just a one off, as my friends have experienced similar problems.

When I dropped it, it got a scratch, but all you have to do is wet your hand a bit, rub over the scratch and it goes! I would recommend this phone as I'm 100% happy with it.

The Samsung D500 mobile phone has given good service throughout it's life, although the toggle button has given up the ghost. When I got it on a free upgrade, the PC connector for the MP3 was around £50, but friends sent their music collections via Bluetooth, and it is always quite quick.

I got the Samsung D500 mobile phone at Christmas, and it really is a great phone. It's got a lot of memory, which is great because you can store a lot of music, photos and videos. The games are not that great though! Messages saved on the Sim can only hold about 200, which is a bit annoying, but if they are saved to your phone then you can save about 1000. I have had the Samsung D500 for about 9 months and I really cannot fault it. In the past I have had just about every Nokia under the sun a couple of Erikson`s and before this the Motorola. This is an amazing little phone that has every thing. The picture quality is enhanced by the flash facility. And the video capture is great. I once had a Samsung D500 before, but I had problems with the signal strength so I took it back, and I know loads of people with the Samsung D500 and they have had no problems. So I decided to give the same phone model a second chance, and I have had no problems with it so far.

I'll admit it. When I bought the Samsung D500 mobile phone it was a spur of the moment thing. I couldn't afford the monthly payments for a D600, and so a pay as you go D500 was the next best thing. However, I was pleasantly surprised. As soon as I opened it up I found it in most respects to be the equal of its older brother. The facade's look almost the same, and as far as I can tell the screen resolution is the same.

i have had the d500 for 3 months now and admit that i had to send it for repair, (slide did not function) but appart from that i think its a brilliant!! phone and excellent value for money, it has a large memory for those videos, mp3's and pictures etc. the d500 has an excellent 1.3 megapixel camera with the video recording for an hour, as well as voice record. so overall i think that the samsung d500 is a brill phone and is worth getting!!!

As soon as I turned on my Samsung D500 mobile phone, I was nothing short of impressed. The amazing graphics on the thing are, well, amazing. The Camera is quality, and the zoom on the thing is brilliant. After you take a picture press the up button on the side of the phone. There are lots of good things (too many to list) about the Samsung D500 mobile phone, such as the fact it doen't take pictures in your pocket! But the best is that it can stand up to a good beating and seems durable. I haven't managed to break it yet, and I have had no problems with cable failure or any other failure. It is indeed a cheeky little number!
But, if you want the bad points, here goes:
Plays quietly at first.

I have the D600 and the sturdiness of these phones are exceptional. On one occasion when getting out of my car my phone slipped out of my bag flew across the road, then it was promptly ran over. Guess what two tiny scratches on the side, thats it. Great phone, great brand and great review.
