“Poor service and hopeless for parts.”

Written on: 03/07/2011

We purchased a brand new Senda 50 for our son to get to work on as there is no public transport. We bought a new one as we wanted something that would be reliable with no previous issues. But it wasn't. In fairness it has done nearly 5000 miles in 9 months, a lot on a 50cc. During that time there have been numerous niggling faults all down to poor build quality. Speedo failure. Kick start falling off. Rear wheel bearings. Exhaust baffle falling apart. Problems with voltage regulator blowing… Read Full Review

My old man said it would go alot faster if it was de-ristricted. It is now but first when me and the old man done it the engine stopped workin. I sent it off to be fixed and now it is done but it still don't keep up with his car. I also fell off the f*****g heap after it was done! had this bike 9 months and in the 9 months i have had 2 battles with warranty jobs which the firts time involved the frame bending and that took 3 months to sort out. Recently i was riding home from work and as i went around acorner my back wheel barrings came out and brake calliper dropped onto my brake disk, i am still currently battling it 3 weeks later. Also with the bike speed is fine at 30 when on flat but as you hit the slightest increase the speed will fall straight to 15mph you van do… Read Full Review

Best bike I could have bought. They are fast bike's for what they are, which is good. They also look nice. Also a bore kit makes it a lot better. I have beat all 50cc bikes round my area and also beaten some 125 bikes. They are definitely worth your money if you look after them… Read Full Review

reynolds, i had same problem with my senda 50 when upgraded to 80cc head. turned out i had a split fuel pipe(un-pressured). this came from a friend i swapped bike for car with, cos it wasnt performing. i was gutted cos it was the best bike i ever rode apart from that. just bought 125 4 stroke version that isn't as good. gets to 64mph no problem but just stops accelerating and is sluggish.

Carlh's Response to 226428_splitt's Review

Written on: 05/12/2006

The Derbi Senda being unreliable is just one persons opinion. If you go to a Derbi forum you will find that parts are easy to come by, but they take a few days to arrive. OK, so they're not the most reliable of 50cc bikes, but they're definitely one of the quickest. On acceleration not many other 50cc bikes will touch them, and the RS50 GPR50 will only win on top end due to a fairing and longer gear ratios.

No Carh, as the Derbi Senda is unreliable, I don't have to do anything with my RS 125, apart from warm it up before I get on it! No need to carry spark plugs, and no need to worry for parts all the time!

I thought that was the same with all 2 stroke high performance engines. Like your RS125 for example?

Carlh, I have heard from people, that you need to carry spark plugs in your pocket, just in case one goes. Also the engine on the Derbi Senda needs rebuilding, probably once every year if used daily, and the pistons are no good. Also, you have to let it warm up for at least 10 minutes before you get on it, otherwise when you go down the road it will go BANG!! And then it's a new engine for you.. :( Apart from all that it's totally unreliable, and not that good looking either!

All the points I have made are true to my own knowledge, and of what other people have said. Probably 80% of owners of this Derbi Senda have bad things to say about it. Yes, okay if you look after them, then of course they will last a bit longer, but if you're really busy and have not got time to do work on it yourself, don't buy it, as it WILL take up a lot of your own time, but don't let this put you off if you have a lot of money and still want to buy one...

What problems have you had with your Derbi Senda mate? Because all the people I've heard from say they are great if you look after them.
