“Purchase with confidence”

Written on: 16/02/2014 by Ericjones (1 review written)

I have been a Slaters Menswear customer for over 30 years and over that time this company came over with very strong customer orientated principles with strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. If one has any doubt about whether or not to deal with Slaters they should rest assured, as theywill only receive the highest professional service and products. I do not, normally write reviews but have made an exception in this case… Read Full Review

“SUPERB CUSTOMER SERVICE..NEVER EXPERIENCED BETTER”

Written on: 21/10/2013 by Shawsatisfied (1 review written)

I had occasion to visit Slater's Menswear in Manchester twice recently. Fortunately i was served by the assistant manager. The service was impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble and he made sure we were satisfied with our purchase from when we arrived until when we had paid and left. If you, like me, are fed up with the very low standard of customer service in this country (unfortunately i have experienced proper customer service in America), you should visit Slater's Menswear in Manchester… Read Full Review

“Great service in Dundee branch!”

Written on: 28/08/2013

Was extremely impressed with the high standard of customer service in the Dundee branch today. Went in and was welcomed by a really friendly young lad who was able to pass me onto a hire ware specialist. Was so smooth and quick (which I could have been in their hands for longer!) Prices are far better than else-ware and I shall deficiently be returning. Can't fault it at all!… Read Full Review

“Modern Fashion Clothing”

I go in here every now and again to freshen up my clothes and get some new stuff in. The workers in there are pretty good and know what’s what. Everything is a good price and looks nice and smart. You can even hire a suit/kilt for weddings, etc. if you need. Good stuff!… Read Full Review

“Formal hire wear”

Written on: 14/08/2013 by Annoyedcustomer123 (1 review written)

I went into the Leeds store to get measured up for a wedding suit as an usher. I was given no shirt to try on and was handed a different suit to the one that I would be wearing to check for size, when it is common knowledge that a 36 in one suit is not the same as a 36 in another, especially with the suit the groom has chosen as he is normally a 38 but has gone for a 36 in this. This suit fitted badly yet my brother who is the same size had had the opportunity to try on the actual suit which… Read Full Review

“Great mid-point between generic shops & expensive...”

Written on: 31/03/2013

I wanted a couple of suits for work. I went round a few shops that offered suits off-the-shelf, and had seen some very expensive suit shops online. For me, Slaters in Manchester offered a perfect compromise between these two extremes. The member of staff I was with didn't hurry me into choosing between styles, nor pressure me into getting more than I wanted. He was also thorough in getting the size just right. This is especially important since I struggle to find trousers that are right on… Read Full Review

“The first time I've had a suit that feels truly my own”

Written on: 05/12/2012 by blackdogonline (1 review written)

I went to Slaters for a suit. In the past I've bought off the peg suits which always felt a bit big around the waist/chest. I explained it all to the man on the shop floor who measured me up and showed me the suits in stock in my size. I chose a nice single-breasted suit with the gentleman's advice (he asked when and where I would be wearing it, how often etc.). As I'd gone in scruffy wearing jeans and casual shoes he even found me some shoes in my size, a shirt and a tie just so I could try… Read Full Review

Just helped my brother pick a suit from Slaters in Dundee. Fantastic 'old fashioned service' where do you get that these days!! David, salesman, was knowledgeable, helpful and seemed like nothing was too much trouble. Alterations were all included in price of suit, fantastic. “Brilliant for suits”

Written on: 04/08/2012

I needed a suit for a wedding in abroad. I've been shopping in different places ( Leeds,York & Harrogate ) and only saw 1 suit at £220 I was keen on. I didn't want grey or black but stone or something similar. Went to Slaters and picked one within 5 min's at £110 - I needed a Regular Jacket but short in trousers. No problem, leave them there, to alter - and pick them up 3 days later. The service was first class from 4 different members of staff I dealt with ( I also bought cufflinks ). I… Read Full Review

went to m&s to get a suit as people keep telling me they do great suits. Couldnt find what i wanted in the £200 range so tried the £149 performance which was supposed to be 100% wool, it felt very cheap so left and went to slaters and within about 5 mins of entering the shop had a 100% wool suit with no mods required fro £199 from the room at the end of the store which has the decent suits… Read Full Review

“Badly Fitted Suit”

Written on: 12/11/2011 by cms13 (1 review written)

My son went into this branch to buy his first suit, which he needed quite urgently, when he came home he told me the trousers neeeded the hem taken up. The suit was collected and when he tried it on the trousers were all puckered at the back, we both went back into store and got the seat of the trousers adjusted, a little bit better. The jacket is too big 46chest when a 44 would be better, I do think he could have been advised a lot better than he was, the jacket was a 46 chest and the trousers… Read Full Review

I have just been to Slater Men’s Wear in Glasgow. I totally agree with your comments. They take you from when you enter the shop and they offer you a selection of goods that are cheep and shoddy. The do not listen to what you actually want. When you are partially forced to take a suit that is cheep and they tell you it needs altered but this is free. I looked on my receipt and it was not free. They tell you to come back like 4 hours later and the trousers they are tailoring will be ready. You get them home to find there is no loops for your belt to go through. The trousers are like a tent. The shirt you buy is also like a tent. The shoes you buy are cheep and won’t last a month.

I advise anyone who is thinking of going to Slaters DO NOT GO

This shop shows no customer service what so ever

They are only interested in the till department

I don’t even rate this shop as a single STAR

The tailoring is free. I know because I work in Slaters and have been shopping there for the past 8 years.

I think it's stupid making wild remarks such as "no customer service", when we are a growing organisation with a ever increasing market share - so we must be doing something right.

We also DO NOT sell any shoddy goods. Slaters supplies good quality products and quality is ensured from our Clarton Grey Suits all the way up to the Ben Sherman suits that we sell.

More to the point, how can a Shirt be like a tent? Why didn't you try your items on before you left the store? Finally, if you are going to buy cheap products then don't complain if they don't last along as someone such as a £200 suit.

Also, You spell cheap, c-h-e-a-p, not cheep.

“The staff at the Bolton store tried everything...”

Written on: 10/05/2011

The staff at the Bolton store tried everything possible to locate a black jacket and unfortunately due to my size 54" chest could not find a stock item. I then went online to Slaters online store (Sunday night) found the item I needed and it was delivered direct from the store in Hull before lunch on Tuesday.

I would recommend both the high street store and the online store if anyone is looking for excellent service.

Hire dinner suit

I visited the Leeds branch after lunch to a quite store.

We were not greeted or offered help and once we found the staffed where uninterested and lacked the knowledge of the hire service we where inquiring about. A member of staff who did not give his name or greeted us shouted across the stairs to his colleague who then texted on his phone before raising his head and shuffled over. I shook his hand introducing both myself and my partner and he again did not give his name or… Read Full Review

Written on: 20/12/2010

My shoe size is 12, and as in previous visits they had little or nothing to offer in this size. The company seems to persist with Ben Sherman which is very into slim fit which is very small. I ended up buying an XXL polo shirt for the 1st time which is very tight anyway. Otherwise, the selection was very 'suity' and dated. The service from sales staff was at it's normally impeccably high standard but it was plain to see that even they were disillusioned. Having been an account holder for more… Read Full Review

I rarely shop in Birmingham and found this shop just off the main street
The selection was really good and the price to match. I found everything I was looking for in Slaters and was really pleased with the service also.
Found when I got home (50 miles away) that I had picked up a L size instead of a XL which was my mistake. After a brief conversation with a member of staff on the phone it was agreed that I send back the smaller shirt and they will send me the larger shirt to my home in the… Read Full Review
