I buy a lot of things online, and have never used DHL before. But I recently ordered a part through Best Buy, and the subcontractor used them. The WORST service and timing EVER. They're SO bad that the shipper sent me an email stating that they used DHL because of the 'lower rates.' I emailed them back to say I would have been willing to pay more for better service, and that I didn't appreciate the long delay in receiving the order. Had a toilet delivered from the UK to the US. My friend was scared to tell me how much it cost, but as we had committed to the project we bore the cost - but I know it was over 300 GBP ($500). So far, so not so good. Then of course, after taking the day off to wait for it I am told that not all of the couriers carry cell phones (!!), and as I live in an apartment block with no door bell, there is no way of knowing that the loo had arrived. First let me say NEVER and I mean NEVER use DHL to deliver packages. They lose items, give wrong ETA's, customer service is a joke. I am not an easily annoyed person by nature, however DHL has worn me down. I was told my package would be here by a certain date and time ( of course ). They charged me £69 to send a package to Africa, while the package was still in London - they called my sister in africa to ask her to pay customs of £100 which is more than the package is worth. They then refused to release the package on time, a package which contained presents for my nieces birthday. In my opinion DHL is overated & overpriced and it's about time people realised it. I have ordered many things online through all sorts of different companies. Purolator, UPS even the post office. They all have their issues but I can honestly say that they are 100 times better than DHL. For one thing DHL seems to charge you way more for the same service. Even more egregious is the fact that they then turn around and give you far worse service for the cost. This is the 2nd time a DHL delivery has been imposed upon me, and I have had the same problem both times - that unless you stay at home all day, are near the entrance to your business, or never move from you work phone then you will likely not get your parcel. With NO guarantee of time of delivery anyone who works cannot get home delivery without taking the day off. But then if you go to work the delivery guy won't call you when he arrives. I've had the misfortune of encountering this company twice in 2 weeks. First time they attempted delivery I was in work, i rang & asked if item coud be delivered next day - told no it would be 2 days before they could redeliver. As I needed item for my sons birthday I had to drive a 2 hour roundtrip to collect parcel from depot - they made out they were doing me a favour by allowing me to collect it - although i'd paid £20 for delivery, which would not be refunded. They left a card when I was out giving redirection options. The two email addresses didn't work, bounced back. I tried 3 diffent browsers and a couple of differnent email accounts but still the same. So I phoned the redirect service which delivers to local Homebase stores, Staples and other shops. First to say, this was two parcels going from USA to Canada, the order was released on November 19, 2012. I live in an area of southern Ontario where Purolator seems to just dominate. If I order Purolator ground shipment from anywhere in the U.S. or Canada it's here in 2 days tops. UPS a week, USPS a month minimum. So you can see where the standard is set and what's acceptable for cheap/free ground service. Now with DHL I paid twice as much for next day delivery on a set of headphones then I paid for half of my computer components including a 40 lbs case which was standard purolator shipping and... Ordered something from the States to come up to Toronto, Canada with DHL Express. It took almost two weeks, and when I went to track the order online, it said they had tried me the previous two days but I was not home. However, I was home both days, and never received a tag. When I called, their support system was confusing and unhelpful. Have to go to Brampton (a totally different city) to pick it up. Awesome, thanks DHL. (read more)

My package was delivered to Newfoundland in a couple days but then the shipment got held for duty which I paid for promptly. After paying the duty on the package I still have not received the package after three days, the people who run the store have not checked there computers saying that the package is paid for and can be delivered. They threw my checkbooks in trash I suppose! DHL Delivery in Fremont, CA. This is the worst service you will ever use. These guys will throw away your package, if you dont accept it in first delivery attempt. We all were present at home , and i called for 2nd delivery attempt. I sent a package through dhl to my daughter in Perth. It left Dublin on a Monday night and arrived at her door 12 noon the following Thurs. I was able to track it every step of the way and got updated emails once it was cleared through customs, out for delivery, and then delivered. I can only say good things about this experience. After reading so many bad reviews on the web, I was terrified about my package being shipped with DHL. After reading countless bad reviews(loss of items, stolen items, missing items, damaged packages, late deliveries, no deliveries,and added fees upon delivery) I was very concern about my package coming from Hong Kong. But thankfully not one of these things happened. Package only took 5 days from day of purchase and everything was accounted for and in great condition. Originally used Fedex to send my passport although it arrived 4 days late and i was no longer at the delivery address, used DHL after and it arrived 24 hours later. I sent a Christmas gift with DHL, at a cost of more than 50 GBP--almost as much as the gift itself, because they deliver to Canada, supposedly, in 1-4 days. I needed it to be delivered by Friday, so was happy for it to take a full 4 days. The same package by Royal Mail AirSure would have cost maybe half that to send, but no chance arriving in time. Shipped items from the states at a total of $50. It cost about $25 to ship but being close to Christmas I decided to use the DHL option. My items were delivered into Canada in less than a week and when I wasn't home I asked them if they could deliver to my work place instead. They did this the next day with no problems. Awesome. I'm not saying it NEVER works, sometimes I receive my packages even through DHL. But as soon as there is a problem, I can be sure: there will be no help. If I cannot read the number on my receipt, the package is bacically lost. they can't look for my name, they do NOT have access to the phone numbers of the post offices they use! I generally get parcels delivered by MyHermes, or FedEx, and on the very odd occasion, ParcelForce. I ordered some things of KarmaLoop a month ago. They haven't arrived. As a small company that's looking for quality and economical shipping, we were excited to learn about DHL and they highly emphasize their CLOSED LOOP network. This means their tracking should be great, and if there's a problem -- it can be resolved quickly! Because they're already connected. Is that what's happening? I was waiting for an international delivery to arrive and because DHL only deliver during limited business hours, I used the email on the 'whilst you were out' card to give instructions (as instructed) with one of two trusted nextdoor neighbours. I used to use DHL for my shipments, but after what i have experienced with DH l KSA i will never use and i do not even recomande, first it's the highest price i have ever seen, second it's not a value for money, my shipment took almost 5 days (Express service!!!!), and when i received a shipment i had to call all along the day to receive the following day. A simple CD took a week to travel around East Midlands and Edinburgh and still didin't get here on time. The delivery driver ran all over our garden to turn and made a hell of mess. they say there was missing part of the postcode, but no one bother to phone or look it up and they had our address and phone number. I have used received several deliveries where the shipping company have used dhl. Each time the tracking has said they have tried to deliver but the recipient not at home. I had waited in each time and dhl did not even post a card through the door. They obviously couldn't find my house and so gave up. They had my number each time and never bothered to call.
