If there was an alternative to the royal mail, then i would certainly use it.
The number of times they have failed to deliver recorded delivery items leads me to the depressing conclusion that theft must be rife amoung post worker staff.
I can say with confidence that about a third of the letters and documents i have sent using the record delivery service just have not reached their destination in the Luton area.
What seems to be espeically bad is government departments where mail getting through is essential. I am confident they have today lost or rifled some important legal documents , that i will now have to reproduce and send again in the next several days to meet a fourteen day deadline.
Royal Mail please stop using staff that steal the contents of recorded delivery mail and provide better compensation for all the losses.
Well i'm off now to re do all those documents again and spend £5 on special delivery .
Money for nothing! wish i could get it , Royal mail can!

I I rearranged for a redelivery after the postman came and left a 'Sorry, you were out card' on a Saturday. I arranged a Monday redelivery for this item, waiting at home the whole day, despite it being a valuable off day when I could be doing other things. The item never arrived! Despite the item being a 'recorded signed for', it cannot be trace it as it 'hasn't been delivered yet'. Ideally I would rather collect the item from the local Royal Mail Delivery office, but they have closed the offic ...- Read Guest's review (166 words)

Since other couriers have been allowed to deliver in the UK they have made me realize just how good Royal Mail is. Delivery before 1pm every day, they actually leave a card (more than most couriers I've experienced can manage), and they are responsible for their actions so try to do the best job they can. I have never had a problem in years of selling on eBay and using Royal Mail to deliver everything from CD's to DVD recorders, they provide a cheap and efficient service, have unbeatable prices ...- Read caketaker's review (116 words)

Two items I have ordered over the internet recently and were sent to me via Trace & Trace mysteriously went missing after being accepted at the post office of origin. How can this happen? Also you should be able to track the items - what is the use of confirmation of acceptance at the post office only to never hear anything until it (and if it actually arrives) is delivered. I will not be trusting this system with anything valuable in future.- Read jan4726's review (81 words)

Why such bad reviews for a company which provides a service for all for a very reasonable price? I don't know what people want - always more!
I have never had any problems with using the Royal Mail. They are in my opinion very good value for money, items arrive quickly & in good condition. I sell on ebay and have never lost any items, they are easy to access both to send items & collect any missed items.
Keep the post public!- Read Guest's review (81 words)

Royal Mail's customer service is appalling. They never answer their phones, appear to make up their own opening and closing hours and are extremely rude when you talk to them. The whole business should be reviewed because at the moment they provide a service which is substandard and totally unsatisfactory.
The postal system in this country needs to be addressed quickly.- Read Guest's review (61 words)

I always use recorded service when using Royal mail as I don't trust normal 1st and 2nd class of service, but this recorded service has also become unreliable. My nearly 4 out of 10 recorded deliveries have failed to reach on time or to reach the destination at all. Royal mail is a big waste of time in market there is no alternative for ordinary consumers. Break up the dinosaur Royal mail and get it working again.
Now they even made it difficult or impossible to speak to someone regarding proble ...- Read Guest's review (135 words)

I do a lot of my shopping on the internet and I love it. The only time I have any problem is when the supplier uses one of the many hopeless couriers that now seem to be flooding the market. I have had cards left advising me to collect a parcel from depots that are 40 miles away or arrange re-delivery which I do and wait in all day for to no avail resulting in another tear your hair out phone call. I have now placed a rule on my internet shopping --If it's not by Royal Mail then forget it . Too ...- Read Guest's review (168 words)

It is no wonder Royal Mail are losing business hand-over-hand. Customer services non-existent and designed to be inaccessible.
When they held a virtual monopoly they were inefficient now that is no longer the case they seem to be even more inept.
Shut them down, sell them off, anything!- Read Guest's review (48 words)

The customer services are extremely rude. I rang to make a complaint about a parcel delivery and was told that they get alot of very similar complaints and that this must mean that customers either lie or are mistaken. The operator then hung up on me. Does Royal mail not operate a 'customer is always right' policy? To assume that because they get many complaints of the same kind from all over the country means that customers spend their money to call them and make up such stories is complete ...- Read Guest's review (93 words)

I sent a letter of with special delivery. Two weeks later I called Royal Mail as the recipient didn't recieve it. Royal Mail said that they apologise and the investigation would take over a week to sort it out. I needed that letter to get there the day after when I sent it off. That caused me to change the plans for my whole summer.- Read Guest's review (65 words)

I lost 350 pounds when my new jacket went missing a couple of weeks ago with Royal Mail. I paid first class to return a jacket to a shop because it was the wrong size. It should have taken a day but two weeks later im losing all 350 pounds. When i went to Royal Mail they were so rude i couldnt believe it. It was like i had done something wrong and they didnt have time to help. I now try to avoid using them if i can help it. I better start saving for another jacket.- Read Guest's review (96 words)

I can only speak for myself, and I have nothing but praise for the service Royal Mail provides. I have never had any cause to complain - in fact, the reverse - and I think it is criminal that the present Government wants to remove this service. I received correspondence which had been damaged in transit. It arrived in a see-through bag with an apology on the back from Royal Mail - I call that excellent customer relations, and a service like that should not be taken away from us. Speaking fro ...- Read Guest's review (101 words)
