Would absolutely not recommend this product. After one day of use, my eyes became red, swollen and extremely itchy. Currently taking Benadryl to help with the itch, but will be going to the doctor first thing tomorrow as my eyes were swollen shut this morning when I woke up. This seems to be an issue with this product, so maybe hey should reevaluate their formula... (read more)

I have tried tons of different mascaras/eye make-up, and I have never had an allergic reaction to anything in my life. Great Lash is always listed as one of the best brands, so I decided to save money and give it a try. Big mistake. Now my eyes are red and swollen along the lash lines, and terribly itchy. This mascara is horrible. It gets all over the place and the brush sucks. It makes your lashes clump together. Now my eyes r swollen, itchy and red past my lids all the way down to my cheek bones. I'm on Benadryl and other meds after days of trying to recover. Might have to go to the dr if it doesn't get better. Thanks a lot. Never buying this cheap mascara again. NEVER! EVER! had an allergic reaction to any makeup in my life! I have been using all different brands from the most inexpensive to the most pricy, and I have never had any problems with any allergies. I bought the Maybelline Great Lash in a two-pack, for less than $6.00 which I thought was a pretty good deal for the price, and I needed a mascara at the time. I wasn't sure if I wanted this product because I had seen so many commercials that say " This mascara will make your eye lashes fuller" or " It has a formula to make your eye lashes thick and long" and I'd try them and they didn't do anything they said their product did. So I was telling my friend about how I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it because it could be like the other lies I had faced. Maybelline Great Lash has worked for me for many years. It makes my eye lashes look full, long and seperated. I've read a few reviews that say this masscara straightens their lashes, well then use an eye lash curler, that's what I do and I get gorgeous results:-) I love Maybelline Great Lash it works beautifully for me. And i will use it until it does me wrong, as in damage my lashes by breakage like a few have claimed. As for now I'm very pleased with Great Lash by Maybelline:-) <3 (read more)
“Hardcore allergies”

Ive used other maybelline products (collosal and falsies) and didn't have any problems so I tried great lash but had terrible allergies! My eyes got very itchy and it dried out the edges of my eyelids. It caused the skin on the lashes to peel and my eyes puffed up and became red and swollen. I loved the look of my lashes and it was great to use but something in the ingredients created terrible allergies. If I didn't have allergies I wouldn't use any other mascara. (read more)
“Its different”

Used for years, great seperating and volumising effect. However over the last year it irritates my eyes, dries my lashes and falls off, causing sore eyes. Will be trying a different brand next time.It dries out too quickly too. Shame. Has this product changed its ingredients?? (read more)

I have used Great Lash Mascara for several years and have loved it. Recently they changed the packaging to a brighter pink packaging and it said a new look but the same great mascara. I think they changed the formula and it has been irritating my eyes for several weeks and now several are broken off and are falling out. I tried this mascara for the first itme last week and as I had a cold at the time I thought it was my cold that was irritating my eyes and I ceased using th mascara. I got better within a week and my eyes took a week to get better so I started using the mascara again. I got an even worse reaction this time. I hate this product so much. Not only is it hard to take off, but this product left the skin around my eyes looking like they had scabies. This is definitely NOT hypoallergenic, so don't get fooled, please. I have very sensitive skin so I know how you guys feel on that one. I tried the other Maybelline mascaras like lash blast, colossal, lash stiletto, and define-a-lash and none of these did this to me.If I uploaded a picture, you people would see how bad it is. “Messy! Do not buy!!”

Maybelline Great Lash is so messy. The mascara is very wet and makes my lashes stick together. Also, I get more mascara on my eyelids than on my eyelashes. Everytime I blink (for several minutes after appying) macara comes off on my lids! It takes me FOREVER to apply this mascara just so that I don't look like Tammy Faye Baker. This mascara is terrible. When you put it on it doesn't give your eyelashes volume at all, it just gives it tiny little clumps and makes them look thin and black. Plus, I got a MAJOR allergic reaction from this product. After reading other reviews, I can say I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who suffered from this mascara. A while back, I had purchased this certain mascara. Later that night, my eyes were all red and irritated; and around my eyes, I broke out in hives. I figured it was the eyeshadow I was wearing. I bought this mascara with the hopes it would curl...just like it claims. Not only did it not curl, it did not lengthen or thicken. It made my already straight lashes fall lower and looked worse. This Mascara seems to change each time you apply it, I find that is it a very good one to use particularly before applying false eyelashes. It is not as good as Falsies or Colossal lash mascara by Maybelline but I do find it works well. The price is very good it is in fact under £5 in boots and is plenty worth the money, the application is a little harder because of the traditional brush shape but it lasts all day I wear it 16-17 hours a day and it doesn't wear or come off or crack and end... I usually use Loreal products but I cheaped out and bought Great Lash at Walmart last week.....the MASS display of it with the "$3.97" sign on top should have tipped me off.
I put it on yesteday...no problem, loved the way it looked, etc. No problems all day. Removed at night...or at least THOUGHT I had.
Woke up this morning to VERY swollen and tender eyes. They still are...my kids are calling me "Zombie Mama" this morning...LOL.
What is UP with that?!?!?

I should preface this by saying that I normally use Clinique mascara... However, a few weeks ago, I ran out of my norm and had only enough time to drop by CVS for a pharmacy brand (Great Lash). I must say, it's a fairly decent mascara if you're on a budget. I don't usually see the point of buying expensive makeup, I got this at the Dollar General for 4.25 - it's alright, but it is SO hard to get off. If you can't get it off, put baby shampoo on a washcloth with hot water & gently rub it off; All & All I would not recommend this product to somebody, but if you desperately need fast & cheap mascara then go for it. Something has happened to the formula in this mascara because I have used it for 10 years and all of a sudden it's burning my eyes something terrible! I was a Chanel makeup artist and we all wore this terrific mascara. No more. It's really changed. It runs and doesn't lengthen and burns/stings. They must have changed it somehow. THIS IS THE WORST MASCARA/ MAKE-UP PRODUCT THAT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT!
NB: I wanted to give it ZERO stars- but the site makes you tick at least one.
The brush is tiny with no curve: Eyelashes naturally curve upwards- WHY HAVE A STRAIGHT BRUSH? & Why is the brush so small?? It takes three times as long to use.

This mascara is the devil in disguise. It looks great on until it starts to make your eyes itch like crazy and puff out all over the place. I used it for the first time over the weekend both Friday and Saturday nights. By Sunday morning I was so miserably itchy and puffy. I feel truly sorry for anyone who had this same reaction. The only reason i bought this was coz it looks pretty... oh and the fact it was voted australia's no. 1 mascara, dont really know where that statistic came from..?
Firstly it didnt really do much for my lashes at all. And secondly after a few hours it made my eyes itchy, watery, red and it stings so much! Pathetic attempt by maybelline!

I used this mascara for one week. I couldn't take if off with my normal face cleansing method. One week later I used baby oil to finally remove it all. Not only did all the clumps come out, but so did my the lashes bound to the clumps. The lashes that remain are shorter. I feel sick. (read more)

This is the worst mascara ever! I only used it a few days until I had enough and will NEVER use it again. It clumps, it smudges, flakes and by the end of the day, it ends up almost everywhere except your lashes. It only lasted an hour until it flaked and smudged all over my under eye.
I hate that the professionals rate this so high but it could be because you can layer and relayer it for photoshoots, but that is it.
It is so easy to remove, but that's only because it practically removes...

I really don't understand all the positive reviews. I admit I occasionally had a tube of Maybelline Great Lash around to use as a cheap backup. But I switched to it exclusively for the last 4 months exclusively to save money. Never again. It clumps, it remains sticky/tacky throughout the entire day, and I cannot get it off. I've tried everything--face wipes, makeup removers, soap and water--and I still get lovely raccoon eyes in the morning. I've never had this with the other mascaras... (read more)

My mom introduced me to this mascara when i was a teenager, I never thought it was one of the "better" beauty products because it wasn't expensive. After spending tons of money on Benefit mascara I thought i'd retrieve this from my makeup bag just for kicks. It's better than "bad gal lash" for sure! This product is crud! in fact everything i have ever bought from maybelline has done nothing but irratate and disappoint me. Its cheap, and is easy to apply. Unfortunately it comes off way too easily from your lashes. as the day goes on, this gunk runs down your face leaving you looking like a dipshit owl. Dollar tree sells better mascara than this! this was my first mascara to own, i was 13! I used to love it and the colour was soo nice and dark! Now ive noticed how good all the more expensive mascaras actually are compared to this one. I agree with the people that say that it smudges and clumps easily, (i thought all mascaras are like this), however it is easy to put on and as i have medium lenght lashes, it made mine look really long and full and black. I think Maybelline must employ people to sit and write positive comments about this product as I cannot see how anyone would possibly find this a good mascara.It does not make lashes look "GREAT" only darker as if they have been tinted. You need to keep reapplying for any decent coverage and very easy in the process to smudge onto surrounding skin. it lengthens your lashes but the thing is it clumps and it in the end it looks as if there are just few lashes on your lids..and since its long..it gives the spidery look...
i think thats because of the brush..it doesnt separate the lashes it unites them..formula is ok..
but i guess thats wat you get for this price..

Hated Maybelline Great Lash Mascara and you definately get what you pay for! This is a cheap quality mascara that does absolutely nothing to define your eyes. I made the huge mistake of trying a cheaper mascara but have now gone back to buying the Diorshow mascara. (read more)

The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara brush is small, it's super-goopy and smudgey, and lasts about five minutes. A few sprinkles of light rain and that stuff is running down your face. I think that's why it's touted for the runway--it's very dark and those models only have to have it on a relatively short time.
That said, the waterproof Great Lash is a decent mascara, but again, the brush is so inadequate it's hard to get much coverage, much less any length or volume. Don't believe the hype.

I love Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. It's so black, and it doesn't clump at all. The only problem is that it when it smudges, it's kinda difficult to take off. It doesn't flake on me, though. The price is excellent and the brush is a good size for lower and upper lashes. It lengthens like crazy, but it doesn't do a good job of voluminizing my lashes, which is what it was for. I started using this mascara a few weeks ago, and I thought I was repeatedly getting styes on my eyes with itchy red spots, and now they're under my eye...really itchy red welts. I wake up with swollen runny eyes, too! Now I really do think it's a reaction to it! Yuck!
