Good Points: The only good point of this hotel in my opinion was its position close to the beach.

Bad Points: Thought the bedrooms were outdated, found the staff unhelpful, thought the restaurant and food could be better, thought there was a lack of sunbeds

General comments: Found some unfriendly staff who could speak very little English, mainly German orientated. In my opinion bedrooms very basic and poor standard, ready for updating, single sheets put on double beds!! I do not like being told when I am allowed to eat in a hotel restaurant as there were two sittings, I found it like being at school. I thought the food was poor, there being one choice of in my view very poor cut of meat, one bony fish dish or a pasta dish. Thought the desserts were mush and there was no fresh fruit available. Breakfast much the same. Staff very quick to remove dishes even before finished and came across as aggressive. Pool belonging to Del Sur had only 23 sunbeds and 3 parasols to a hotel with around 100 rooms. When asked if there were extra sunbeds told by staff to go to beach. Thought the entertainment was extremely poor. We even found our holiday representative was most unhelpful. Television was even in German in the main lounge with a charge of 15 euros if you wanted to view in your room. Very poor value for money all round in my opinion.

The holiday overall was OK, I wouldn't recommend this place though, the Del Sur seemed to be a bit of a parasite stuck onto the Cala Gran. The bar was never manned except in the evening, the main entrance was never open so you always had to go all the way around. We felt we were a bit of a nuisance to the hotel, we didn't like being told what time we had to eat in the evening either, we pay to do what we want not to do as we are told. Next time we'll go to Greece.

As a women and a young daughter on holiday, I found the resort a very lively friendly place, we felt quite comfortable to go out in the evenings, the Cala D'or square looked very pretty in the evenings with all the candles lit on the tables of endless restaurants.

The hotel itself has 3 good sized swimming pools, and one which is heated. There was entertainment every night in a downstairs bar, which could be a little cramped in high season. Will go back again soon!

We have stayed at the Cala Gran Costa Del Sur Hotel four times since 1993, this year, we complained about the quality of food on offer, which had deteriorated considerably, especially for the British taste. Breakfast was particularly bad, only one cooked meat, either undercooked bacon, or undercooked German sausage, eggs that were burnt underneath, all of which were cold. Dinner consisted of two options, one meat one fish, one vegetable and one type of potato, all of which including the soup wer ...

Cala Gran Costa Del Sur Hotel - I thought the hotel was nice and clean, the staff friendly, the location was good but the food was awful. They seem to be using cheap cuts of meat, we had lamb chops one night and they were all bone, hardly one bite of meat, cheap cuts of beef, vegetarian paella, I am not a vegetarian so would have preferred the proper paella. Fish was very boney. The machine used for the tea and coffee in the morning did not produce boiling water, no fresh fruit at breakfast, ...
