I've only used the GAT with corks, but I loved it. It is fairly powerful but has a lot of recoil and usually hits high, reloding it can become irritating after a while. Well constructed and durable, nice feel, heavyweight and compact. Overall I really liked it.

I bought my Harrington The Gat for £1.50 with 200 pellets at a car boot sale last summer. used it for shooting cans indoors in the cellar from about 5 mrts. good fun , it was a good £1.50 spent.
Then I took it out side one day, and found it was out of it depth.
So now im hooked and looking into buying a new Pistol with more guts.( any ideas).
But I was taken back that Gat sales for £23- £30 new.
Whats the best Performance to prise pistol out there?

Harrington The Gat is a brilliant push-in barrel British air pistol which started the air gun shooting hobby off for me and thousands of others. Great for indoor cork firing and outdoor shooting of slugs and darts. The first airgun of thousands of present airgun owners. What a shame production ceased after the death of Mr. Harrington. the owner of the Magda Works, Walton, Surrey where it was made. See 'Air Gunner' magazine: 'James Harrington -The Great Gats by'in September, 1996.

I bought this airgun online for about £20 and i really recommend this gun for a first time shooter or someone looking for fun. I was quite surprised for that price I would expect a pile of junk but this is great value for money. However I wouldn't recommend any serious shooting or competition as the aim for this gun is fun!.

I bought my Harrington The Gat gun about a month ago from Blackpool Air Rifles for the bargain price of £9.99! I use it for plinking in the back garden, which it does rather well. If you dont use the sights and just point it, it is suprisingly accurate at close range. In this I use cheap Bulldog pellets, which I would advise to use only in cheap guns like this. Occasionaly I use darts, which the Gat can sling out at some speed.
Overall this is a fun gun. Dont expect power or accuracy, bec ...

The main point of the Harrington The Gat guns is FUN, they are inherently inaccurate because of the pop barrel action. Never tried one with corks but they sling darts down the garden with enough force to stick into the shed door while I'm teaching the kids to shoot.
    Tips for use:
    1. Don't use the sights, you'll never hit anything, point it like your finger and you could be surprised by what you can hit with practice.
    2. Strip it down, clean the thick grease off and relube with some decent mo ...

I bought my Harrington the Gat gun for £20; it came with 50 pellets, 10 darts and 5 corks. Soon as I bought my gun I tried it out on my shooting range and I was really disappointed. Don't buy one.
