This review is from going to branch in Beckenham. I wanted tyres, brakes and brake disc changed. I also asked them to Aline and balance the new tyres. To my horror they quoted me after checking my brakes and tyres £645, I was shocked by that so decide to do my own research and see if I could get it done cheaper. “Loose oil filter and mis-measured tyre”

Book my daughters Yaris in for a full service £174.95, when we picked the car up we where told It needed a new osf tyre as it was down to 3 3 3mm across! When measured by a competent Fitter the next day it measured 6 6 6 mm!! Today found oil on driveway, when my daughter got home I checked the car and found the oil filter loose and covered in oil, I managed to turn it one full turn without over tightening it! Two weeks of conflicting information - firstly spark plugs needed to be replaced- the warning light indicated spark plugs as did the vibration of the car. Then I am told a tube needs replacing, then I am corrected and I am told it was not a tube but a coil pack, orders are placed on Sunday. They have looked after my tyres for several years, but when I went in to Kidderminster to have the pressures checked they said there was an hours delay. Suggested I came back 2 hours later when they would be quitter. Returned to be told that they were still just as busy and as they dealt with customers on a first come first served basis, I would have to join the queue which was still am hour long. I visited the Durham branch for a brake check on Saturday 4th February at 10am as I was due to go on a long journey. I was not asked when the brake fluid had last been changed which the tv screen in the reception said would happen.. Visited kwik fit Sevenoaks way Orpington for a new tyre. Yes sir leave us the keys and we will replace it and it will be about 20 mins. 1hr 50 mins later I get told tyre was not in stock and to come back tomorrow. Reluctantly I returned the following day waited 2 hrs got so annoyed as did other customers and in the end left without tyre being replaced. Arrived at a Birmingham KwikFit garage today at 11.00 am to have an exhaust fitted. At 3.00 pm it still hadn't been put on the ramp. While sitting waiting, I heard the manager answering the phone. Engine damaged after routine service and car left in bits for 3 weeks unable to even recover it to another garage Booked in for a routine service and MOT, the fuel filter was not correctly fitted and the engine spewed diesel all over itself and disintegrated the alternator belt. against my better judgement i took my car to have its MOT at Kwikfit on the 14/11/16 purely for the convenience of its location. it failed. “Fastest Trick Fit!”

MOT was only £30. Another advantage was the proximity to my residence. Service was inexpensive too, and that's how I was trapped. The MOT test showed that the brakes were bad and needed replacing. There was no reason to disbelieve so I went ahead with the replacement. By the time the service was over, they had already stated what might be wrong with the car the following year. I have been avoiding this garage because of all the bad press they have had on the media as well as the whistle-blowers whom exposed their pressure selling tactics. My exhaust started 'blowing' at the weekend. When I looked properly, the exhaust was loose and hanging. I drove it to kwik fit a as they were the closest and I was worried it would come off altogether. They called me and told me that back box to the exhaust had completely snapped, both parts had badly corroded and the catalytic converter section is hard to get and would have to be ordered through. “Rip off - paid double the cost of anywhere else”

I want to make sure that everyone is aware that Kwik-Fit charge twice the cost of any other garage for the replacement of brake discs and brake pads for the same work. The reason for this according to the manager at Kwik-Fit is that they offer a ‘Lifetime Guarantee’ which means they charge double the price for the same work, so you have the added ‘benefit’ of paying twice for future replacement of brakes now rather when the brakes actually need replacing. As a senior citizen living in Kent for two years I used the local Kwik Fit and each year when undertaking the MOT test they said parts needed replacing costing between £300-£500 which I found particularly unusual when I am a low mileage user. The third year took the car to a small back street garage who passed the car for MOT without any repairs. “Company Car or Private Car- 3mm becomes 2mm”

Having been a company car driver for more than 20 years and a private car driver for 1 year, there is a big difference in how they measure tyre depth. When I drove a company car, thy would not change a tyre until it was well below 2mm, they would regularly tell me to come back in 1000 miles, and this would go on 2 or 3 times. I was left speechless with the inaccuracy of information and the very unprofessional service I received from Kwik Fit, Market Street, Aberdeen. The mechanic called & said that due to my car failing the MOT, it would cost £1100 to fix but they could do a deal that day and replace it for £900.
