Good Points: Purchased for a very good price when under a year old.
Bad Points: Unreliable, repair costs quickly make up for bargain price.
General comments: Like the earlier post, my 2003 Vectra 2.2 auto suffered from complete gearbox failure. Vauxhall contributed towards the cost as I had reported problems with the gearbox within the warranty period. 16 months and 12,000 miles later now out of warranty it failed again. Diagnostics first reported this as the Auto ECU but replacing it made no difference and I was advised it needed a new auto and also a front spring had gone. So, I am left with a 5 and half year old car that is scrap which cost £140 for the tow home and after considerable argument £170 for the diagnostics to tell me the wrong fault.
I will never buy another vauxhall...

Owned the Vauxhall Vectra 2.2i LS Auto 4 Door family car since May 03 previously had an old vectra 2.0i GLS Auto for 6 years. In my opinion this is Vauxhalls worst auto gearbox so far - at certain times the car revs between gears and then lurches forward. Had this checked by the dealer and was told that it was normal and that the car has to learn your driving style! Otherwise it's not a bad family car - especially if you avoid the auto version.- Read jerick's review (123 words and 2 comments)
