Announcements for boarding was very minimal. Queuing up very early before boarding. Aircraft arrived late and rush by local ground staff to board as fast as possible resulted in chaotic crowd management. Its so unprofessional. The staff boarding us were not too conversant in the English language. There should be Cantonese (as CX is based in Hong Kong) broadcast of boarding arrangements too but alas, very disappointed. CX's overall services have deteriorated in recent years. Its a pity and sad to see.

Flew Melbourne to Hong Kong, then Hong Kong to Rome. As a 5 star airline I thought it would be good, but I was sadly disappointed. The seats from Melbourne to HK were like economy standard. The seats from HK to Rome (and return) were shell, no comfort at all, no recline, minimal padding, to add to the indignity the armrest didn't even fully rise so my partner and I could have that tiny bit of extra space.. I am small but I was wedged in my seat. Very sardine-like. The food was abysmal except for the ice cream. Altogether it was totally miserable. I wonder if they do that on purpose so you will upgrade. Qantas, Jetstar, even Air Asia X was more comfortable in every way. A totally miserable experience. There is one positive though , the flights were on time and the entertainment was very good.

On a recent Business class flight to Australia the preferential treatment was at times non existant with no control being taken to differentiate between First/Business class and economy although the staff at the gate had announced otherwise. (Having to be bussed from gate to plane). The onboard is beginning to look 'tired' with in flight meal choice being unavailable for both my wife and myself, one was found and then served cold. Request for additional serving of cheese was only available on a 'biased' nature. The return flight at Hong Kong staff allowed economy passengers to queue in the First/Business boarding line ahead of those holding First/Business passes. Customer Services firstly ignored complaints and only responded uncaringly after a second complaint. The next visits to Australia will be on other airlines and I would recommend to others not to fly Cathay Pacific.

I recently flew back from Australia to Hong Kong business class on Cathay ,I wholeheartely agree with your comments ,same experience! My next flight will not be with Cathay. It is clear why the posted such a huge loss in this financial quarter.
I always thought that airlines needed customers to be proofitable? Cathay aparantly has a differnt view. If you attempt to contact customer service with a comment or complaint , you will find it is so difficult ,in the end you just give up.Passengers have many options , I suggest Cathay should be your last option. Cathay Pacific is allowing hacking for so many travel agencies in UK, which is not good for Travel agencies who sell available flights. It is not good at all. we will complaint in IATA about this hacking allowed by the airlines for their particular agents.

Cathay have chosen a pod seat in economy which doesn't recline but slides within it's self. Therefore your weight is transferred from your buttocks to the small of your back. The headrest is also too high up to serve any purpose unless you sit bolt upright. Very uncomfortable and an example of where form has overtaken function. Depressed that I've got 3 more legs to my journey left (23 hours) to endure. Felt like a no frills airline. Had to ask for nibbles with drinks, eye shades and socks. Food OK. Flight on time. Won't fly Cathay again until they've resolved the seat issue.

Same experience there with this type of pod seat, but hopefully, with the introduction of the brand new reclinable economy class seats, you can feel comfortable again, but DO check if this is the type of of seat they are using before making any booking, just to be on the safe side.

Flight was delayed for about an hour.
Customer service was extremely bad, called for help 5 times for broken television, and in the end it was not fixed. During this, I recieved extremely poor service from the air hostess.
Even though the food was exceptable I would personally recommend other companies such as British Airways.

Staff do not smile. Spilt drink on to me and did not apologise. Staff not courteous. No water in toilets at rear of plane. Would not use Cathay Pacific again

Cathay Pacific has a reputation as a high quality airline but this was not my experience. The film/TV package is antiquated as films could not be stopped and restarted and the selection is severely limited and outdated.

The plus point is their fare typically ends out to be $200 lower than Singapore per ticket, which is why I still fly this airline.

Cathay Pacific are good when everything goes well but not geared up to deal with delays or problems.

I have took at flight with Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong from Los Angeles. The ground staff have very poor service and look very confused, and their management is even worse.
The flight was my worst experience too, the economy seats are so close. There was an uneasy smell, the plane looked old, the toilet was a nightmare and huge the media box under the seat is the end of the world. Throughout the flight, I was deeply disturbed by the water leakage; the staff came frequently to fix many leakages with baby diapers. It affects the upper storage compartment and at least six rows of passengers. And, upon the last hour reaching the destination, we are then asked to move over to the Business class seats.

I totally agreed with you there, although I flew only in Economy class due to being in a group of 20. Their old econ pod type seat is a nightmare! Rumor has it they they are slowly phasing that out, and bringing back the better recline type. Service is hit and miss, food is stingy and did not taste good at all. Although I must say their IFE was some of the best in the world.
On my return, I ditched my econ ticket and bought a biz class ticket with Singapore airline, I had the time of my life ^^
