Flew with Cathay Pacific on my last holidays (both legs of my journey), my experience, to be summarized in one word, would be WOW!!! The airline takes the phrase - "Customer is King" rather seriously. I am happy with the kind of reception I got and would definitely fly with the airline again. Have flown with these guys a few times over the years and have watched their level of service go down a bit every time. but their flights have always been on time for me apart from a blizzard once but that day every flight of every airline was cancelled. I will still probably continue to fly with them if the price is right. (read more)

I first flew with them in January 2013 as it was an emergency trip, I had flew on a Boeing 747 usually my favourite aircraft, but it was the worst trip in my entire life, the shell seats made me have back pains for three days, after my three weeks vacation in Bohol via HK, I tried desperately to buy a business class ticket for my return trip but sadly it was full. i have endured several PE CX flights hoping that at least once there would be some improvement. Unfortunately none! In fact they just got worse and worse . The product is by far the worst initiative this airline has ever thrown at an unsuspecting public and it club members .the product provides nothing at all but a slightly bigger seat than economy .the service is non existent.The toilets are non existent. Very bad flight attendants. Highly racists. They Will not give service to old and weak passengers. They Even refuse to give some warm drinking water for aged passengers who have problems drinking cold water. My aged mother had to suffer alot because of this. I was extremely disappointed in the Premium Economy service I received on Cathay Pacific. At a price tag almost three times that of Economy I expected something a bit special – but it certainly isn’t what I got. Apart from the slightly wider seats (which were actually rather uncomfortable anyway), the priority check-in and the quieter cabin, I really couldn’t see much difference between Premium and ordinary Economy class. I recently took a flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok with some relatives, once seated and preparing for take off i was asked by one of the air stewards to fasten my seat belt which is perfectly fine, if i understood mandarin!. As a British born chinese citizen, unfortunately I do not understand mandarin. When I asked the stewardess why could she not tell me to fasten my seat belt in english?, i was told abruptly "Mandarin is the mother tongue and Cantonese is the second tongue!" she then said... I do a *lot* of traveling and, in 2012, I went to JFK from Beijing (through Hong Kong) and to Thailand from Beijing (through Hong Kong) twice. In that time, I had 6 Economy legs and was bumped up to Business Class twice. On my flight from Thailand, I left my wallet on the plane and I was able to get it back, fully in tact, by express mail the next day...and in a town that was not in their flight path. I am an American Airlines Advantage member.... I travel with medical equipment for a birth defect. I was traveling from Chicago to Jakarta. GOOD LUCK getting on board early if your not a marco polo club member. You can expect to get hearded into the mob of general boarding. American Airlines even gave me a red Oneworld Priority Card and told me to present it if I had any issues. I have flown Cathay Pacific many times. It deteriorated considerably in recent years. Many airplanes are old and have not been punctual with their departures. Delay departures and late arrivals are quite often. Seats are tight and non-declining. Recently Cathay Pacific came up with a deceptive economy (L) with supposedly larger leg room. Cathay charged $100 extra for each seat one way. The sad story is that there is no extra leg room at all. It is a paid punishment, the customer gets stepped... (read more)

Cathay Pacific is a good airline with lots of good and as well bad qualities. First of all, Aircrafts are aging and old. There are no footrests in the planes. Quality of food and service are all good but they really need to change themselves! (read more)

The flight was late to start with, and they wanted to re-route it to south korea, for what, to make their stats look better? Now the flight will be 7 hrs late, for a flight 14 hours long. Terrible planning, i will never recommend it to anyone. (read more)

On a recent Business class flight to Australia the preferential treatment was at times non existant with no control being taken to differentiate between First/Business class and economy although the staff at the gate had announced otherwise. (Having to be bussed from gate to plane). The onboard is beginning to look 'tired' with in flight meal choice being unavailable for both my wife and myself, one was found and then served cold. Cathay have chosen a pod seat in economy which doesn't recline but slides within it's self. Therefore your weight is transferred from your buttocks to the small of your back. The headrest is also too high up to serve any purpose unless you sit bolt upright. Very uncomfortable and an example of where form has overtaken function. Depressed that I've got 3 more legs to my journey left (23 hours) to endure. Felt like a no frills airline. Had to ask for nibbles with drinks, eye shades and socks.... (read more)

Seat and schedule are ok. My problem with Cathay is that the staff are DISHONEST. I accidentally left my mobile phone at the front seat pocket when I flew from KL - HK. During transit (less than an hour), upon being seated in the plane from HK - MLA, we informed the stewardess about it. She told us that she will inform the necessary people and that we will be informed when we get to MLA.

I have been a loyal Cathay Pacific customer for over 10 years flying from NY's JFK to Hong Kong.
They have been great till they partnered with American Airlines flying to Hong Kong in the past few years. Not only has their prices gone up significantly more than the other airlines but the service and the perks that made me a repeat customer has totally gone away.

This was a terrible experience! I have flown to Perth from Toronto in the past with Emirates via Dubai and let me say Emirates is the better airline hands down.
There was little selection for food on every flight, and on a 15.5 hour flight the only snack available outside of meal times was microwaveable mr. noodles. I shall never recommend this flight to even my worst enemy! Unfortunately I have my return ticket to San Fracisco through Cathay Pacific, after this journey, I won't travel through Cathay Pacific even if they give me a free ticket! The flight attendants are VERY RUDE! the food was horrible and the services poor. When I asked for a customer comment card, the flight attendant promised to return to my seat with the requested form, but she never did. The plane was crowded with Chinese who spoke loudly, very annoying. At the airport, the information that was asked about the connecting flight and gate was responded to with hesitancy and lack of courtesy. I would avoid the airline all together in the future. I experienced a flight delay on Cathay Pacific from Singapore to Shanghai, and as a result, missed my connecting flight in Hong Kong, and had to stay overnight in Hong Kong to catch the earliest flight to Shanghai the next morning. For insurance purposes, I requested for a formal letter from Cathay.

Flight was delayed for about an hour.
Customer service was extremely bad, called for help 5 times for broken television, and in the end it was not fixed. During this, I recieved extremely poor service from the air hostess.
Even though the food was exceptable I would personally recommend other companies such as British Airways. (read more)

the most uncomfortable airplane seat i have ever sat on. So cramped and basically no padding in the middle of the backseat.
I forgot a gift bag full of chocolate boxes on the airplane on the way to Saigon. When i called the airline to report and inquired for lost and found, they just kept sending my phone calls around to nowhere. When i got to the airport later to look, could not found the bag.

My flights from Melbourne to London Heathrow were delayed in April due to the volcanic eruptions.
It took two days of constant dialling to get through to Cathay help line in Australia, then when I did get through it was constantly on hold. I did however eventually receive an email after trying the website, a very helpful member of staff managed to book me on a flight which was a week after my original departure date, this was satisfactory apart from them sending through the wrong customer... There is a reason this airline is called Cathay Pathetic. I have never flown on an airline which was so blatantly bad. I travel by air frequently but I will never ever use this airline again. This was a volcano flight. We left Sydney and were to have an hour stopover in HK en route to home in London but this turned into 5 days. It was a confused sitaution but Cathay were brilliant. We were bussed into a central 4* hotel and this and full board was paid for by Cathay our entire stay. There were apparantly nearly 2000 others being looked after in the same way. Flight was cancelled due to Iceland Volcano, but the problem was the abysmal attitude of Cathay Pacific is providing 'Duty of Care', No help was provided, Chineses/HK Nationals were given priority over European Nationals. Flights were cancelled, passenger details disappeared, flights re-instated and filled with HK/Chineses passengers. It took a noisey protest by 300+ passengers to get some action - hotels & food. I have flown most all the Asian airlines and this was my first and last business class flight on Cathay Pacific. From SFO to HKG and return in a 747, I was cramped into a stall that would not allow me to extend my elbows. The seat is economy class in width with a wall on both sides. The only downside were very uncomfortable seats and not alot of legroom,
if that had not been the case,the whole experience woulda have been first
class, would fly with Cathay again unless there is another airline with more comfortable seats,as on long haul flights comfort is a big factor.

Cathay Pacific cancelled my flight which has been booked for months. I cannot change to another suitable scheduled flight as they are all full, and while I will of course receive a full refund, this will take "up to 8 weeks to process"!!! I made sure I booked early so I got a reasonably priced flight (£500 for one way), but now I have to rebook with another airline so close to the date and the cheapest I've found is 800!! Overall Cathay Pacific are a wonderful airline and i would surely fly them again any time. Great new product, friendly and neat crew.
The seats were fantastic and the food better then any other airlines i have ever tasted. Entertainment was wonderful.
Economy seats has more space than the majority of the other carriers. Business class seats are wonderful and the crew service awesome. (read more)

Our flight was delayed which caused us to miss our connecting flight. They tried putting us on another flight leaving 11 hours later as all other earlier leaving flights were fully-booked with a waiting list. Cathay must be now one of the worst airlines in the world when it comes to handling its customers on the phone. I thought Qantas was the worst, but this airlines takes the gold medal. I have spent two months ago 45 minutes for them to answer the call and again today they have taken 33 minutes, so they did not break their own record. 10 years ago, my carry on luggage was not right size after I have flew a few other airlines with no trouble, but not ok to take it as my last stop of my trip in HK airport. I was forced to take things out and checked in an empty luggage.

Everything was fine except in delhi airport I was told my bag was more than 36 kg, I insisted that it is not more than 36kg but they did not agree and didn't behave gently and said if you will not take out your items you will miss your flight.
