“The best clarinet you will find!!!!!”

★★★★★

written by on 30/04/2013

I have played my Vito clarinet for 21 years now. It is the best clarinet that I've ever had. I have played it in competions, concert band, orchestra, and marching band. I have had educators and professionals tell me that it sounds like a professional as well. My recomendations with reeds with it is, start with Rico reeds and Rico royals with a number two strength of a reed. Later on switch to vandorens (made in France) and go up a stregnth up, like a two and a half or a three. Now ....until about two years ago I tried a vandoren v-12 #3 stregnth and let me tell you the tone quality is awesome. Tell you a funny story.....one evening doing a special rehearsal i was tuning with my Vito and the student sitting next to me had a Buffet R-13 . So we were tuning and the both of us sounded like one clarinet. So as you can see, I won't trade it in for another one. You can see why I have had it for so long. The only maintenance I have done over the years is pad replacement ( the whole thing) and replaced my mouthpiece a good four times or so. I get the Vandoren brand as well. Had a couple of repairs with the corks as well. My next new mouthpiece would probably be either a glass or crystal one. It's will be a different venture for me.

This is an excellent beginner/marching band instrument. They can take quite a bit of abuse, more than a professional model clarinet. This instrument has lasted through 4 years of marching band, and still plays as well as when I first bought it. If you don't replace the mouthpiece and ligature (I use m13 and 5rv) it will sound kind of awful. And while it is, by far, not the best clarinet for a professional player it works great as a beginning instrument, and is much cheaper than a professional model, that may end up being a waste of money if you buy it for your kid and they decide that they don't want to play anymore. This is probably the best beginner level instrument that you could get.

The LeBlanc Vito is my choice for best all rounder for a learner, and the good news is they are often found cheaper than my next two recommended the B12 and the Yam 250. The best points are the sound quality & build quality.

This intrument lasted me through my beginner stages of clarinet playing. I am now in 8th grade and have upgraded to a buffet r13 but my vito was a great instrument. It survived many drops on the ground, my beginner care for the instrument, and the weather. I would definitely recommend this instrument for beginners who want an instrument to last through their intemediate and beginner years. It is tough to say whether this is an intermediate or beginner instrument. I selected beginner but this instrument did last me through my intermediate years. -Plastic
-Some of my keys wouldn't produce notes (alternate fingering for b)
- Loud keys

I've had this Clarinet since I first learnt to play the Clarinet four five years ago and now Im on Grade 5 in several orchestra's part one. It's extremely trustworthy and the make is good, I have it serviced every so often and it comes off good just some average daily wear and tear.

While the LeBlanc Vito is made of plastic, it is a great instrument. Perfect for the beginner, and in my opinion quite suitable for playing right up to and even including letters. Assuming you got a new mouthpiece (a Selmer C95 would be ideal), and one of those Rovner ligatures, which would get rid of that cheap plastic-ish sound. The Vito is great because it handles like a much, much more expensive instrument and sounds like a much more expensive instrument (if you can spare a couple of hundred for the mouthpiece and ligature). Put simply, everything included you can get a secondhand Vito with new mouthpiece and lig. for maybe 8 or $900. The Buffet R13 costs more like $3500, and you'll sound the same. So your clarinet won't look as flash, you think anyone in the audience can tell the difference?
