    Good Points: Everything about ship was good. Its getting on in years now and shows it in some respects but the captain described it as a grand old lady - that sums it up and with only 680+ passengers not too much crowding and queueing.

    Bad Points: time ashore was a little rushed at times and the tours were in general adequate but probably not worth the high price (£60) for each tour. Will be more circumspect next time as to which tours to go on.

    General comments: Land of Midnight Sun cruise June 2009. First class itinerary, excellent organisation marred by having to share Tromso with another cruise liner with 1200 on board meant that all tourist destinations were jam packed. Not much company could do about this. Ships company excellent in every respect, friendly patient and cheerful. Food first class for canteen style eating. Went with mr. Bridge and highly recommend doing this to spend each evening in congenial company at the bridge table.

    From details and opinions posted on the Internet we had very low expectations for this cruise (Lisbon to Antarctica) but where happy to "give it a go" for the destinations of South America and Antarctica. We were pleasantly surprised by the decor of the ship, though very disappointed at the decor of our cabin, a junior suite, it was functional however we saw superior cabins of a lower grade that were far more nicely appointed with art on all walls and matching curtains etc. Our decor was very br ...

    good diningroom/lounges/decks staff and service; entertainment; food; cleanliness on board; very friendly phillipino crew; all daily programmes of activities on board; cabaret crew; on board shop;
    these were thr bad points in our opinion, too long delays at airports; bathroom in cabin not up to scratch; never met captain, officers and his engineers; decision for cancellation of shore-landings due to too many incapacitated passengers not acceptable, esp. at Tristan Da Cunha; internet very slow ...

    On the Antarctic cruise it excelled in organisation and friendliness of crew and the staff. I cannot fault the cruise itself or the planning that went into it. If I have to complain it would be about the choice of airline used to get us to our embarkation point and after our disembarkation. Flights on both were stressful at airports and with long delays and cancellations.
    I almost got put off booking any further cruises due to the bad experience with the flights. But the Voyages of Discovery M ...

    Seldom have I been so satisfied with a cruise in all its aspects, from the quality and attention to detail of the crew, the standard of catering and the excellent and varied entertainment. I would certainly not hesitate to go with Discovery again and recommend it to my friends.

    The very, very best thing Discovery did on this cruise was to stay in St. Petersburg for three nights. That's why we were there - not many cruises do that and this city is a gem.

    Our journey to Hawich, which I last visited in 1949 to sail to Holland on what must have been the first school trip abroad after the war, took about four hours from NW England, via M56, M6, M1 and M25. We arrived at the dedicated car park in a downpour, the only rain we had for 12 days!

    Boarding was simple after a ...

    We were on a 10 day cruise to the North Cape. The Voyages of Discovery MV Discovery ship was superbly equipped, the predominantly Philipino staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The ship takes approximately 600 passengers, so is not too big. Food was excellent and plentiful. There were many activities to pass the time away while at sea, or if you prefer there are many lounges to sit and just watch the scenery. Dress was mostly informal, with just a couple of formal dinners.
    As this tour ...
