Good Points: The food we had was very good, probably the best thing about the place. Not too pricey and you get quality as well as quantity. The BBQ was good too. All you can eat for 9.90 Euros

The staff. I must say, we have nothing bad to say about the staff at all. Iggy the manager was quite accommodating and Xchavi (I think that's how you spell it), was really super great and good cook at the BBQ.

Bad Points: Security feeling not very good.
Hobs don't work all the time.
    Could not use the freezer.
    Mould on the shower curtain.
    Beds smelled musty and damp.
Playground appeared to not be maintained properly.

General comments: Just in case there are any other people who book at the Playa Blanca, here's some information about the place.

Upon arrival we were both disappointed at the apartment. We were on the top floor .. 36 steps up and 36 steps down. Not too bad if you only have to climb them every now an again, but several trips a day for two weeks, it does become a bit of a nuisance. Now, when looking at the door to the apartment, it appeared as if someone had at one time tried to pry the door open as there was wood missing. This didn't give us a very secure feeling to say the least. And also, this is the only door to the apartment that locks. The actual doors that close the apartment off from the balcony does not lock in any way shape or form.

The kitchen/dining room. Well, there were two hobs to attempt to cook with. However, you couldn't use them both at the same time. If you tried to, it would flip the circuit breaker off. For the first week, the front hob worked, then in the second week it didn't work. Every time you turned it on, the circuit breaker would flip off. You couldn't use the freezer at all because there was so much frost nothing could be put in it. There was rust on the outside of the fridge as well.

There is also a sofa sort of, that is suppose to be for two people. NOT. This was also musty smelling and appeared to be dirty.

The bathroom. This wasn't too awfully bad really. The only thing we found bad was the shower curtain had about a foot of mould up from the bottom of the curtain.

The bedroom. There are two twin beds in the room, which smelled musty and damp. You have springs in the mattress which pop up every now and again and punch you in the side or back depending on how you are sleeping. There are only two very small drawers to put clothes in. Otherwise you have to hang everything up or just pile it inside the wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe is your safe, this is opened and closed by a key, which was a bit worrysome as well. If there's one key, there has to be another somewhere. Rent it at your own risk.

This was our first holiday going self catering and I can assure you it will be the last. As for staples such as condiments etc.. you had to buy. This was us not knowing any better.

The pool. We didn't use the pool at all as it was mainly full of kids on our arrival and was small.

The playground. We don't have any children, but in looking at the playground, the slid was rusty and had holes in it. The swings looked okay, but if we had kids we would have been very hesitant to use it.

The bar, reception, restaurant, game room is all in one room. The drinks there are bit pricey. A Southern Comfort and Coke and a Bud beer was over 8 Euros.

The entertainment. If you like Karoke you'll love the Playa Blanca.. They have it twice a week. There's also competitions for pool, darts, and a quiz night.

There was live entertainment as well. We were not impressed with it at all. It was more of a joke than anything.

We didn't have it as bad a some of the residents. Some of the people who were in the Mar Blanca across the road, didn't get clean towels for over a week. One couple didn't have any hot water for the first 4 days and some of them their hobs didn't work at all and were having to brink the kettles over to have the water heated in the bar.

This was our experience at the PLAYA BLANCA.
