Good Points: Superbly realistic marine environment with Penguins, Inca Terns, and Fur Seals. Underwater walk built into this so that visitors can go below the surface and sea the animals in their own world.

Bad Points: The restaurant was very expensive, with an outside seating area beneath a large canopy. The outside eating area was plagued with large numbers of starlings, rooks and pigeons scrounging food and flooding the tables when visitors got up to leave. Most of the tables and chairs were plastered with bird droppings and the restaurant staff were fighting a losing battle trying to keep everywhere bird-free. Unlike most Zoos, Bristol charge £1 for parking your car. We visited on a Bank Holiday and although very busy with visitors, many animals had still not been let out.

General comments: There are no large animals at Bristol other than a pair of Asiatic Lions and a family of Gorillas. The Zoo is limited by its location and is very much in need of more space or a new venue. We have no doubt that the animal residents are well cared for, but it is not a venue either of us would want to visit again. Bristol is a very old Zoo, and it is a Zoo not a Wildlife Park. Space at the site is very limited and consequently many of the animals do not in my opinion have the room they really should do. We felt very much as though the Zoo was like walking back into the past with animals in small enclosures.

All in all bristol Zoo is a fab day out that i would recommend to anyone. You will have so much fun. There is plenty to do and see and well worth a visit. If i remember rightly its about ten pound to get in and is well worth that. I would however advise taking your own food with you unless you plan on spending a fortune.

We take the kids to Bristol zoo 2/3 times a year, and they never get bored of it, they have a play area for the kids so you can relax until they get you going around again. They have different exhibitions through out the year, like the giant creepy crawlies.
