Good Points: A nice follow-up EP to their first, 'Far out and disconnected'

Bad Points: The sound is not good. I guess that's the reason they called it 'Static'...?

General comments: Firstly, to be Frank (hah!)..
I have to warn you that if you're very picky about sound quality, you're going to be disapointed.

Since I reviewed Royal Porn Celebrities' first EP (Far out and disconnected), I thought I might as well do their newest release too.

- Winnfield: The CD kicks off with a quite cool intro.. sounds like some chimes there too. Then comes a cool riff, that reminds me of Motorhead..?? Anyone? I don't know why, but it has this 'raw' sound to it. I like that! One of the guitars' got the wah-wah, and playes a solo.. again, as much as I like wah-wah, the solo would be better without..
(I've been told that the name 'Winnfield' originates from the character 'Jules Winnfield'played by Samuel L. Jackson, in 'Pulp Fiction')

- La guerra: Oh! I got this punch in my stomach when I heard the first three sec of this song.. The guitars are just THERE! The song is more
heavy than the others... (Compare it to #4 on Far out.)

- Neverending: This song IS neverending.. but it's a good thing, really. Incredible arrangements, but sometimes it sounds like the vocal is a bit off key during the chorus..
Not a big deal, though.. it just get's better, like there's an awakening of some kind..
The ending... (which never ends...) is really nice, with at least four guitars...?? It get's me in a good mood..

- My Mama Said: Cool intro. This is my favourite! Again the wah-wah, but here it fits in perfectly.
This song is really long, almost 5 min(!) but it's not dull at all.
Quite impressive the way they get the drums on verse #2 to sound like handclaps.
This song got two 'pauses'.. just listen...


Conclusion: I really enjoyed this EP. Although my favourite EP is still 'Far out..', this shows that Royal Porn Celebrities can play different types of music. It's not JUST bonehard rock.
My granny actually liked #3:)

The downside is still the sound, which doesn't make them justice...

They've actually listed every song in full-length MP3 also, so you can listen to the songs, and order the album just to support them.. That's a band with no sense of economics, but neva mind that! The music is what's important, and these guys know it!
