The solid++ construction the wonderful A1 lenses, the metering, focus screens, long-life (button-type) batteries... all makes an absolutely 1st class photographic experience. The APSM modes could not be easier to use and generally speaking.
It will do everything a camera is supposed to par excellence.
It's a class-act and will be remembered as a classic.
I would call it a REAL camera.

The Nikon FA is the most advanced manual focus camera that Nikon ever produced. It has programmed, aperture priority, shutter priority & manual modes. It was the first Nikon to feature multi-zone evaluative metering (in addition to being centre-weighted).
The FA is based on the FE chassis, this means that accessories designed for the FE/FM/FE2/FM2 will be suitable (the FM3a also can use these accessories).
The shutter speed range is from 1 sec to 1/4000 sec, with a flash sync of 1/250...
