Good Points: Affordable, comprehensive, clear results that are easy(ish) to understand, no 'astrology' reports - just credible information. Can customise your own competency sets - this is excellent. Has very useful extras, such as team profiling, 360 feedback and a clever search/match function for screening/analysing large applicant groups. Software is nice and easy enough for non-techie HR types(!).

Bad Points: Some people get confused by the internet enabled (email) questionnaires (though most are OK with it and there's a paper backup).

General comments: We chose Insight Matters Expert Psychological Profiler for Business because it was the best tool we could find without spending crazy amounts of money. It has turned out really well - I'm extremely pleased. In my view we actually ended up with a much better product than most of the higher priced tools we looked at.

We got it initially as an executive coaching diagnostic, but our recruiters now use it as well. Coaches like the credible presentation of results for their senior clients, and the accurate 360 profiler. Recruiters mostly use the analysis short-cuts, but also several of the profile chart options.

The software has a very neat option whereby Insight Matters will create 'customised competency set plug-ins' for you (at a price). This has enabled us to have our own in-house IP on the profile charts - extremely useful. Standard extras are also good, e.g. It collates team data, which is interesting for analysing why teams work (or not) and why some people clash, etc.

The company are easy to deal with - responsive, straight up and very knowledgable.

Insight Matters Expert Psychological Profiler for Business - I've been working with HR applications and surrounded by organizational psychologists for 25 years, and this is the best staff profiling tool I've ever encountered. It doesn't lump people into boxes, but really brings an individual to life. Gives lots of leverage for managing and developing staff. Love the 360-profiler!! Also useful to inform recruitment, if you want to use it that way.
