Good Points: Fully equipped apartment. Plenty of space. Handy for lots of bars & restaurants. Great local golf course. Great for plane spotters
Bad Points: on flight path to airport
General comments: We booked the Sand Club Apartments direct from the owner via an owners website - do not book these apartments through a holiday company. We were sent the apartment key in advance and a nice information pack and excellent details on how to find the apartment. We arrived late a night and the welcome pack provided by the owner was welcome. The apartment was very clean and tidy. It was like a home from home - it had British TV, Hi-fi, oven, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, washing machine and a safe, in fact we wanted for nothing. Other than stocking the fridge up with beer! Though owner said that could have been arranged!! The complex only has a swimming pool. There is no poolside bar or cafe. The sunbeds are a bit tired and jaded - but owner has told us that the pool and terraces are going to refurbished in November - so the pool might not be available - so watch out for this. We spoke to some people at the who were asking about the state of our apartment, who had booked through a holiday company and when they saw our apartment and asked what we paid - they were really upset - I will not use their actual words. They felt robbed.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Also the area is under the flight path to the airport - but we soon got used to the noise. If you are a plane spotter it would be paradise!

For what we paid this was ok. Apartment really big for two of us. Near bars, shops etc, but a lot are privately owned and dogs barked constantly, loads of bars restaurants etc but not for nightlife lovers. Found best place to eat Arcadia and Big Als friendliest bars Big Als and friends karaoke bar will be going back

I loved it, Tenerife was fantastic and the weather was lush the restaurants had good quality food. It was lovely the pool was clean and warm the people were nice and it not too far from shops and restaurants. Well there weren't many bad poiunts but the bar at the pool wasn't open so you had to bring your own drinks and stuff

we booked as allocation on arrival as it wasnt booked until december, still we could have expected cleanliness, the balcony was even filthy, the rooms stank of sewerage we were buying our own bleach which was not having any effect. 22 euros one way into any busy area, poor locality, even lower standards and would not go there again if i was paid to.!!!!

Having read some of the reviews on this page, it was with some trepidation I approached a week's stay in the Sand Club Apartments. My anxiety was only reinforced when the night porter showed us to our apartment , which was filthy and obviousl had't been cleaned since the departure of its previous occupants. The porter however was equally disgusted and after a few Spanish curses(about the cleaning staff) showed us to another apartment nearby which was I have to say spotless. That was the only neg ...

We have been before to Golf Del Sur - it is on the airport flight path but you soon get used to the noise of the planes coming in.
The area is a lot more sedate than Los Christanos or Las Americas, but is a bit of British enclave and not really a part of the real island. We would not recommend it for teenagers or those who like lager and clubs as there are no clubs - which is great for those of us who passed on getting drunk every night and having to walk through the after effects the following ...

We had a great time. I am glad we read the reviews before booking. We followed the advice to go direct from an owner and not with the holiday companies. I used the review to beat him down on price. The apartment had everything we needed, it was very clean and the lad who looked after the apartment for the owner even took us back to the Airport. The welcome pack was a nice touch. The complex only has a pool with sun beds and nothing else. There is no internet connection or poolside bar - the latt ...

After reading the reviews on this website, following a last minute booking, I was dubious about the Sand Club Apartments to say the least and worried! However we did not pay that much and so did not expect a lot. I have to say that we had a pleasant weeks stay. Yes the apartment was basic, no kettle but we took our own after reading reviews, we came across no cockroaches at all. I was quite looking forward to it, being an animal lover and all that! Perhaps the wrong time of year. The only down s ...

We stayed here from 19th January 2007 for one week. The cleaning was a non-entity really. We had our room cleaned once in seven days and that was after complaining to the receptionist. Our apartment, number 115, was infested with cockroaches, they were running round the living area, kitchen area, bedroom and the bathroom was the worst. We came in one night and there must have been 100 in the bath. We complained time and again and in the end had to go and buy some spray from the supermarket. ...

What a flea pit, I wouldn't recommend going to the Sand Club in Winter as the maintenance was rubbish ie cleaning the rooms happened once in 11 days and they just walked in and didn't knock.
The pool area was large enough and empty but that was due to the pool bar being shut all the time. Oh and I suppose it didn't help that there were pigeons drinking from the pool water and a dogs bone was floating in it too.
The town itself was friendly and we would recommend Friends bar.
Stay there at you ...

We booked directly with the owner through an owners web site not with a holiday company. Talking to others it appears this is the best thing to do as the holiday companies do not bother, whilst the owners care. We did have to use Recptionion and we had been provided with a local agent who was British if we had any problems - not that we had any.
We had a good time and would go again.
It might be to quiet with those who have teenagers.

When we arrived & picked up our keys we could see straight away that the place was probably nice once upon a time but was now unkempt.
The curtains of the apartments could be seen from outside and were so dirty they looked ready for the bin.
Our apartment was a total mess. As soon as we opened the door the kids said "We are not staying here." There was not a single good point. There were used cotton buds on the floor, dirty towels, sofa was filthy, balcony doors had glass that looked like it ...

We did enjoy the Arcadia restaurant very much, and the singers do an Abba show which is really great. Good points about the Sand Club Apartments - it has a pool and nothing else, but we spent all day at the pool for the kids, and they loved it. In the evenings we went to the top square.
Our holiday was great. Golf Del Sur in Tenerife is a very quite resort. We would go back, but we will rent a private apartment next time. It is a lovely place to go back to if you want a relaxing holiday. ...

I have read many old reviews from 2005, about the Sand Club Apartments in Tenerife, that there is no kettle, toaster or microwave in the apartments.
Another review I read from early 2006 says that you have to pay to use the kettle in your apartment.
We are going on a package holiday, and we are staying in a 2 bedroom apartment. We are not staying in a private rented apartment.
Can anyone who has been to Sand Club more recently please tell us about the kettle situation, so that I know i ...

I was appalled at the lack of staff. I saw gardeners and cleaners. Staff, when located at the nearby Green Park Hotel, did not understand even the basic request in English, so it is just as well I speak Spanish.
When the apartment was broken into, no offer of help was given, no reassurance, no suggestion that we move apartment and no offer of help contacting the police.

Although there is no beach near the Sand Club Apartments in Golf Del Sur, Tenerife, the pool was a great sun trap. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, and a short walk away by the sea. I have booked to go back again.

Sand Club Apartments in Tenerife are the worst I have ever come across. It was clean enough, but equipment was severely lacking. i.e. Kitchen utensils consisted of a frying pan and small pot, and that was it! No kettle and no toaster - Zilch! As for Golf Del Sur, it is like a ghost town, and considering the volume of apartments here, you very seldom see any more than 4 people walking about. Where does everyone go? Also there is no beach. It is surrounded by rock so no good for kids. So if you ar ...

We recently stayed at the Sand Club for a week. It was booked direct with the owner via the internet. Although there is a reception - we were sent the keys directly, got a taxi from the airport, and 10 minutes later we were in. The apartment was nicely furnished, spacious, and very airy. The kitchenette was fully equipped, but did not have an oven, not that we needed one. The fridge looked fairly new, as did the microwave and hob. The owner later told us he had refurbished the apartment la ...

I would visit Sand Club again. Once settled in and adjusted I felt right at home. Stunning view at the front was mountains and at the back was the view of the sea in the distance. Not complete luxury but still an enjoyable holiday.
