We purchased our Diablo 900 2nd hand after a one user 2 years ago. Stupidly we watched the DVD instructions and figured we would be fine. DO NO MAKE THIS MISTAKE!!!! Have a practice first in a BIG back garden. My wife and I can now throw it up in about 25 mins, but it isn`t the easiest tent to errect. One tip if you have the 2 door version is to get the porch door where you want it before pegging down. Once up it is awesome and the interior space is great especially in wet weather.

Hi I have used the xp 400 for a number of years. Is it quality? 100% yes.
Has it ever leaked? not ever and I camp march to october. It is spacious, durable when in use BUT and its a big BUT. It is about as difficult to errect as anything I have ever used. The problem is the sleves that the poles go through. The poles snag and snag they are just too long and by the time you have 4 poles and you are putting in the 5th.You are bending and straining the materials.we habve ued this tent 5 to 7...

Took this tent all the way to Aus after owning and camping in it 4 or 5 times in the UK, in a weekend of strong winds and rain 2 of the poles snapped and ripped through both the inner pole sheath (needed for the stability/rigidity of the tent) and then also wore through the outer. The poles need vastly improving, possibly durawrap, but this could make them too heavy. A shame as we love the tent to bits due to its size. Some uk sites won't accept it due to its footprint size (read more)

The Diablo 900 is an awesome tent. Huge space and will keep you dry no matter what the weather. Ours has been battered by winds and rain when other tents literally blew away. It is great for longer trips. Tricky to put up in heavy wind but if you have three people(2 adults and a child) you will manage it. Great comfort and its worth the extra for the extension canopy over the doorway which is a great place to house the cooker giving even more space to the impressive interior. The pods are... This is our 5th year using this tent for 2-3 week holidays and on short breaks. It has been baked in Spain and battered in 50mph winds in Dorset and is still in good condition. Once familiar with the process it can be erected by an adult and older child, even the 900! The inside space is invaluable non rainy days and for longer holidays there is ample storage space for a family of 5. Excellent value for money (read more)

this is a spacious tent that accomodated 12-15people in the communal area on rainy days. For it's size it packs quite small compared to others. I'm not a fan of inner tent first erection but i knew that before i bought. you'll need at least three people on a windy day to get the shell over the inner tent but i reckon that's the case with any other large tent. Definately recommend it, if it's still on the market (read more)

The Vango diablo 900 what an amazing tent easy to erect very large and spacious and yet so easy to erect I can only think the previous reviewer did not have a 900 as they are a 9 man tent infatc you could fit another 4 in the middle takes us 20-30 mins max to erect as is double skinned but that adds to the durability and protection from the elements WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU WANT A LARGE EASY TO ERECT AND DURABLE TENT (read more)

We bought our Vango Diablo 600 almost 4 years ago, and have used it about 10 times. I must agree it is one of the hardest tents to erect despite doing so by the two of us.
The positive side to it thought is, it's quite roomy, fantastic entrance which we use as our kitchen area, ideal if you have young children in terms of the space/safety it offers.
The negative sides are, the poles do not last as long - ie, splits, crack, bends. The pole sleeves are not of a toughened/durable material...

We have had a Vango Diablo 600 for over 5 years. Adolescent daughter and pubescent son mean that we are having to upgrade to a 900! Otherwise we would never have changed it. I spend a lot of time on campsites as a DofE Award leader and I have yet to see a tent that I would swap for the Vango Diablo.
Excellent in poor weather (Dumfries & Gales away!). As a family of four on holiday we are usually joined by elderly relations during the day and even in inclement weather we are easily and...

We have the Vango Diablo 900 XP - fantastic tent, plenty of room, reasonably easy to put. have used it about 3 times now. However, find it difficult to pack the tent away in the wheel case that it came in - especially the inner tent that goes in the top part of the case - why couldnt they make the bottom and top of the case the same size ??? Struggled to put the ground sheet in the porch part to get it to fit nicely. Any idea's would be appreciated. (read more)

I have spent many years camping and would recommend this comprehansive family tent to anyone who is patient and devoted to camping!! Excellent weather proofing as demonstrated to us in the horendous weather in July 2007. We were watertight in the main tent area. There were some leakages in the 'kitchen' area.
Excellent family tent, plenty of space and useful velcro points for electric light cable. Allows all the mod cons!

The Vango Diablo 900 is just a wonderful tent. Some negative comments from miserable park owners when we turn up and they whinge it is too big. If they haven't asked you for dimensions then tough! If they are in the camping and caravanning business then they ought to know what is what. We have even set up a gazebo for that extra ambience! It depends on how many you have staying and how you use your tent. Hubs and I use it for just the two of us (not often enough though!)

I have used this tent only once and the weather was perfect (hot and no rain) so I cannot comment on how it fares in bad weather (something I am to find out this year probably). It took two of us less than an hour to erect this tent having watched the DVD first. I love this tent as I took my children with me and there was plenty of room inside for us to move around without tripping over each other. The only bugs I saw inside was the odd fly but that was it. We bought this tent 2 years ago and have used it 3 times. Each time it has gone up easily, once in the rain, without any problems whatsoever.
We have just returned from another week in it. 3 of us put it up without any trouble and 2 of us took it down. It survived howling wind and torrential rain last Saturday with no ill effects.
I recommend this tent for anyone with a few children as the space is superb.

Integral ground sheet leaked badly. The inner tent got wet when erecting, therefore we couldn't get sufficient tensioning when pegging it down and attaching flysheet, as the inner tent stuck to everything. It took 2 days for the inner tent to dry enough for us to remove the fly sheet, so we could put it back on properly.
Tensioning ribbons on the awning were a dangerous tripping hazard even when pegged down. The separate ground sheet for the awning didn't fit properly.

Great tent when up but what is the point if it gets damaged each time it goes up.
It is interesting to see that the 2007 tent has poles on the outside.
This is no doubt due to all the complaints about damage to tents when pitching.
I like it but do not know how long it will last.

This tent failed on us. It leaked through the groundsheet, and the pole sleeves material has torn under normal usage.
Although it is big, the Vango Diablo 900 tent is difficult to erect. It has a huge footprint, poor quality poles and poor quality inner tent material.

I viewed and looked around for some time before buying this tent but once I'd seen one already erected at a show I knew this was the one!
We put the tent up in strong winds... kids and pegs holding down inner tent helped! And it survived very well in bad storms and rain where others on site failed badly!
I'd recommend this tent to any family or large group - if the weather is bad then the large living area will accommodate up to about 10 chairs and a couple of tables. What more could you want!

I have only used the Vango Diablo 900 tent once, and it took my wife and I two hours to get it up. I am assuming it will get easier with practice, although I agree with the reviewer who said it would be virtually impossible to put up in the wind. I bought my Vango Diablo 900 tent last year, and I have used it 4 times. It is VERY simple to erect. OK, the first time you have a couple of scratching head moments, but after that no problem. Myself and my wife can put the tent up in around 15 - 20 minutes, as all the poles are colour coded.
All the rooms have sewn in groundsheets, and all doors have fly sheets, so no Creepy crawlies getting in.

We have just been camping to try out our new Vango Diablo 900 tent. We arrived by around 4 o'clock, and before we could go anywhere we had to spend 1 and a half hours just to put it up. The instructions on the inside of the case are not much use at all. In the end we just erected the tent without instructions. Taking the tent down takes a lot less time, and the tent fits nicely into the bag. The size is good, but the bedrooms are supposed to be 3 man each, yet with mattresses, it is a squash... (read more)

* Negatives:
Since the Vango Diablo 900 is a large tent, it is quite difficult to erect using just two people. In a wind it would be near impossible. The instructions are not particularly good either! For example, ignore the instruction that glibly says to insert all the poles in their sleeves. Trying to lift the main dome into the standing position with all the poles inserted is impossible! Removing all but the three main poles is essential if you want to stand any chance of lifting the...

UPDATE 2: We have recently spent a windy and rainy week in Devon with the Diablo 900.
On the plus side... the tent seemed to withstand a good battering from the wind, and after nights of lashing rain showed no signs of any leaks.
On the negative side though...
The guy ropes are hopeless! In the morning, going outside revealed that many of the guy ropes had slackened themselves, since the plastic adjusting buckles had lost their grip on the ropes, despite being checked the night before. I have no reason the believe this was the work of pranksters, since the same happened during the day while we were in the tent. The plastic buckles do not provide enough friction on the guys to stay in place. Secondly, when taking the tent down, we discovered that one section of one of the main inner tent poles had cracked right down the middle. It obviously could not take the strain of the wind loading. Rather tellingly, Vango provide one spare section of this very pole in the pole bag, so they obviously know it's liable to break. Also, this pole's sleeve had also ripped again in another place. I cannot stress how careful we have been erecting the tent; neither of us are clumsy or thoughtless, the very opposite in fact. The tent simply can't take the strain of its own clever design. It seems that my initial review's comment about the tent not lasting many seasons will become true. When it does finally tear itself to pieces, it won't be replaced by another Vango.

Recently using a Vango 600 for the first time, water and mud seeped through the middle seam of the sewn in ground sheet. What are we told by the great outdoors camping shop in Sunderland, from the Vango rep supposedly, despite using it once and buying it a couple of months ago, this is normal, all tents will do this and its not covered under any guarantee.

Please, is it normal to have puddles and mud in the living area, that oozes in when you walk on it?
Has anyone else had this problem, we are fighting our case.

The Vango Diablo 900 is an excellent tent. It has a very large living area, and three 7 foot square bedrooms, a long tunnel at the front. UPDATE: A colleague at work (an experienced camper) recently erected his new Diablo 900 (2006 model) for the first time. He also managed to cause a tear to one of the main pole sleeves - just like I did! Furthermore, he discovered (when it rained!) that his main living area groundsheet has a 'fault line' in it where the material is very thin and lets water through. He is returning his entire tent (heave!) to the supplier to get a replacement under Vango's lifetime "workmanship" guarantee...
