I got my 05 Piaggio NRG DD air cooled sportseries for crimbo 08. And it is a abrilliant piece of kit. Handles great. Very easy toswing round bends and fun over all to drive.
I would recommend getting it derestricted though.
Just removing the washer from the variator makes that much difference… Read Full Review

To be honest the Piaggio NRG is probably the best scooter (50cc) ever made. One of my mates has a speedfight derestricted and does that of the line and top speed. It also does the majority of aeroxs as well apart from the ones that have had big carbs put on and air filters. If your thinking about buying a 50 buy an NRG… Read Full Review

I bought a Piaggio NRG 50 for £370 but it needed new brakes and new rollers, I have put a TNT hand made exhaust on it and also a K&N air filter which has made it sound very bassy. I have also bought chrome mirrors, chrome foot plates, black front and back lenses instead of orange ones.
My bike is not very fast at pulling off but top end is about 65mph can anyone tell me how to sort out my pulling off… Read Full Review

get a quarter throttle put on costs like £20 or less depends where you go this reduce the time taken for you to pull it to full throttle. then you want to try to get you're hands on a de restricted inlet manifold or so long as it stays upright bolt your carb straight onto your cylinder either way this will help throttle response. if you cant find an inlet manifold that says its derestricted just go for the shortest one you can and if needed drill it out a bit. then get a racing variator assemble with lighter rollers and because the speed at which the cluthc can ingage at is pretty much the first few seconds of acceleration get a racing auto clutch for it as well.
hope this helped

I have just put an exhaust system on my NRG MC3 air cooled bike, and I had to put clutch rollers in to make it move, but it still isn't working properly. I've got 6.6 gram clutch rollers in. Are they too heavy or too light? The bike is perfect when I first start it up, but it dies out after the first 5 minutes, and it hasn't got as much power. Please help!!!

The clutch is responsible for the 1st 5mph of acceleration or so. If you change the springs so it is fully out sooner, that will help, and the rollers, the right size and weight rollers are a big help. You can tell this, as when you pull off look at your rpm. This should stay the same from start to top speed. Hope this helps. You could also cheat and stand on the ground and set it off and "fall" onto it, putting less pressure on the clutch so it is fully out sooner.

When I was looking for a second hand 50cc a mate of mine said try the Piaggio NRG 50 so I did. I found a seller with an NRG scooter it was derestricted with a sports ZX Leo Vince exhaust shifting the ped to 65mph+. It was a nice ride and everything fast fun but it just didn't do it for me I prefer the Runner 50 Its just that little bit more sporty.
But all in all the NRG is one of the best scooters you can buy… Read Full Review

Hi mate. I've got the same Piaggio NRG sport series, and I find that the acceleration is pants.
It does like 0 - 30 in 17 - 20 seconds lol. If I bought a new exhaust like the one you mentioned, would it make a lot of difference, or still be slow? On a straight I get 43, but I think my digital speedo is wrong.

Please get back to me
