2nd trip to this wee haven of calm on Paxos - everything within 5 mins walk! Great value and the biggest decision of the day is beach or pool !

“Terrible crossing no Hydrafoil”

★★★☆☆

written by on 28/05/2013

Flight fine transfer to Corfu Harbour NO HYDRAFOIL RUNNING because of rough sea, so they put us on a TOURIST boat, ok until corfu ran out and waves 30- 40 high I was very ill with a lot of others , it threw my husband off a tub chair smashed his head on a seat and bruised all his shoulder . We should have been put up in Corfu till next day but I suppose it was all down to cost instead of safety.Crew were running round like headless chickens Cases thrown about chairs smashing down this boat should have never gone out. Spoilt my holiday because of our return it has put me off going to paxos I would not want anybody to through what we went through Refuse to go if hydrofoil is not running we were the talk of Paxos . BASTAS COMPLEX basic accommodation we had no hot water for 2 days and pressure on water very poor Room clean and pool very good and hotel staff very friendly on the whole a basic accommodation .We have been going to Greece for 27 years so we expect basic on what you pay. Lakka idyllic very quite and everybody very friendly Longos little sleepy village You cant help but chill out. So sad that the ferry journey has put us off from returning to Paxos

“Lisa's Corner ”

★★★★★

Lisa's Corner
Just off the Harbour front turn left when Fannis is on your right, this is a very local restaurant doing whatever is in season and if you request something the night before if it is possible they will have it ready for you the next night we ate there about 5 times in 2 weeks and every time was excellent.Lisa is friendly, informative and passionate about her food .

Harbour Lights Bar
When we arrived we was told to check out Harbour Lights bar Lakka but when we found it it was closed but due to reopen soon, but the good news was that the owners had set up in another bar, they might not had have the same bar but they sure know how to run a good one. Louise the owner never stopped working attending to every ones needs who entered the bar for either a Beer, cocktail, information,or just a chat she was always willing to help.I must mention the man a the helm Yannis if you go by what he says you will wonder how he manages ,working all day looking after the children and then running the bar single handed ( Another Greek myth but a lovely Chap) thanks for the black rum mate.... Great bar Great couple...

I agree with every thing you say about Harbour Lights and the couple that run it.

My first time on Paxos was 24 years ago on a trip, It has not changed a great deal.

I've always stayed at the Bastas apartments in Lakka. Lovely friendly folk. Met some great people and still meet a few who also take in Paxos most years.

This place is ideal for busy folk who just want to chill and take in the sun and scenery. Some lovely beaches untouched were you can while away an hour or two.

They are a little trek from Lakka itself but are worth the walk.

Would recommend to anyone I felt worthy of a chill and rest. Great place great food Great people in the little village of Lakka.

See you soon.

“Beautiful holiday. We went to Lakka. It is hot, sunny,...”

Beautiful holiday. We went to Lakka. It is hot, sunny, and such a lovely place. The views are lovely, and it is warm even at night. At 10 at night, for example, you could wear a suntop because it is that warm. The seas are blue, clear and warm, and snorkeling in them you can see loads of differnent fish etc.. The beaches are sandy and rocky, and the beaches at nearby Anti-paxos (only a boat trip away) are stunning. Also, on the boat trip to Anti-paxos, you could see wild dolphins leaping up though the waves alongside the boat, as we did. The food is typically Greek and delicious, with the typical Greek feta salad a favourite of mine. The little tavernas/restaurants along the small harbour serve food suitable for families and vegetarians. There are some small shops selling food and touristy things, although Paxos is very quiet and 'Greeky' because there is no airport, and the tiny island is only roughly 7 miles long and 3 miles wide. To get there you fly to Corfu airport, then take the hydrofoil across to Gaios, the capital of Paxos. Gaios and Lakka are the only places in Paxos to have a cashpoint machine, and on Paxos there are 3 main villages, Loggos, Gaios and Lakka. There are many a) orange and lemon trees b) olives! and c) cats. It is the most wonderful place, hot, sunny and picturesque everywhere and amazing. However, if you are a partying person, Bastas Complex is not for you. In Lakka, at least, there is hardly any (if any) night life. It is quiet and peaceful. I loved it all!

The Bastas Complex is a fabulous hotel the views from the roof top pool are something else!!! The setting is great. The apartments are typically Greek! What do you expect? I do not really want to rave too much as we do not want you all to go there and spoil the laid back Greek Island! this is the best hotek in Lakka.

“Enjoyed Paxos as an island and would definitely go...”

Enjoyed Paxos as an island and would definitely go back but would not book through Olympic holidays. Very traumatic crossing and were really messed about with flights and transfers. Not to mention being fobbed off when made complaints about the accommodation.
Accommodation at the Bastas Complex was very poor, we wouldn't advise staying there, especially in the so called larger self-catering section.
My advise would be to look around at the many independent companies and book your flights separately, our friends spent the same weeks there as us but not in the same accommodation. Their sea crossing was very well organised.

Patrulli's Response to BUBBLES DEVERE's Review

I agree with this review because...The Olympic holidays sell this complex as a 3 star and it is basic rooms and should be a 1 star rating and Olympic say it is a local rating
