Virgin Broadband advertises constantly fast download speeds, eg. 9MB/s when 10MB package is purchased. Currently, I am downloading a 16MB file from CNet.com. I am getting a speed of 300 BYTES a second. Yeah, thats right, bytes. Shouldn't that be kilobytes? 300 bytes is 2400 ones and zeroes going down your line. We have fiber optic cable. It should be able to fit half a million. The troubleshooting advice is pathetic, giving the same old instructions over and over, reguardless of what you say. You have to pay for customer support. In some cases, you have to pay to get the problem fixed. I shouldn't have to get the problem fixed, nevermind PAY to fix it. I will try my very best to steer very clear of Virgin in the future. The advertising is misleading. I am shocked and disappointed. Totalise (now MadAsAFish) offers 2MB broadband speed. I'd rather go with them. Moreover, I'd rather go on dial-up compared to this rubbish I'm getting.

I've had big problems with BT Broadband... None of these services are perfect but
I appreciate that Virgin have taken the upper hand and are creating some commercial competition.
I find the 50mb option very strong compared to the competition in the UK (which is dire on an International Scale)
If people are getting throttled for downloading illegal files, grow up and face your responsibilities as a

Terrible service. Too many disruptions. Service dropping out several times a day. Low speeds. I subscribed to 10MB. When I ran speed checkers I noticed it varied on a daily basis. Highs of 9MB lows of 1.5MB. Poor customer service. The selling point for me was the speed. When it worked it was ok. But losing conections several times a day for long periods of time is of no use. I telephoned their customer service department on several occasions. On one occasion they promised to call me back. The ca ...

If you use and have a rapidshare account then forget VM Broadband as they have just introduced restrictions for rapidshare and megaupload downloads. I used to get a 700k/sec download connection from rapidshare, but it is now a 5k/sec download connection (yes, that's right, slower then dialup.) For a few days, I thought it was my account, even though I could download from any other website at 700k/sec. Then I found groups of users on the Virgin Media Customer Zone who were all experiencing the sa ...

Dispite the fact I was paying for 20MB broadband I have done loads of speed tests over the past 3 months my average actual speed was 2mb.

I phoned Virgin who sent an engineer and told me everything was fine with their line so it must be my router or computer. I phoned virgin again who said they will give me a discount on my phone line as a way of an appology.

2 week later (yesterday) I phoned to cancel my broadband as I have gone with someone else only to be told when I accepted the £6 d ...

What can I say....I wish I never signed up with Virgin Broadband...my internet keeps dropping off, as I write this review it has dropped off again. I think they somehow know I am giving them a bad wrap so they have cut my service off. I have 2 more months to go till my plan gets over but I cant take it anymore. I have paid them off so I can get out of my contract. As far as recommending it to someone.....yeah right!

I have had Virgin Broadband 50mb now for 2 months, the 1st month i was getting 50mb download and around 1.5mb upload after the first month this speed suddenly dropped to around 35mb download, im now in the 2nd month and the speed is around 18mb.

And i keep getting disconnected...isnt it a surprise that you get 50mb whilst in the 1st month (because you can pull out) and once your`e in the 2nd month the lower speed and connection issues appear.

I Will never recommend Virgin 50mb to anyone the co ...

Virgin Broadband is mega slow. Since Feb 2008 I have called support 2 or 3 times a month. Engineers come out and when they use their own equipment, everythng appears wonderful. Have changed router under advise from Virgin. Still snails pace. Recently Virgin has said there is nothing they can do and we will have to put up and shut up!!

Excellent response times and reliable. However Virgin Broadband constantly change the contract terms and conditions - even during the tie-in period, so you can never be sure how much your next bill will be and whether it is correct.

Got a 'three for £30' package in late 2008 with Virgin Broadband so that my ageing mother could enjoy the old comedy programmes on the t.v. and I could use their 'fibre optic' broadband and the phone would be available to us both.

From day 1 things went wrong! Engineer turned up with wrong installation details. I had to provide my own Ethernet cable (though I got a 'free' month when I complained) and I've had several t.v. and broadband 'outages' since! Was with AOL 1996-2008 and had very ...

Got cable as I wanted higher speeds being some distance from a BT Exchange I was only getting 1mb on a good day.

Changed to Virgin cable and only took the Broadband Package which was £ 15 per month less £ 1 if you selected e-billing. I did this as I was online anyway. I went through the contract which arrived on the same day the engineer installed the Cable. It made no sense what so ever it contained various discounts which ended after 6 months. I refused to sign it and contacted V ...

Been using virgin broadband since they took over telewest who we was previously with. Had the worst experience with these than any company ive ever dealt with, constantly loosing connection, slow even with a 20mb deal. Bad customer service, and even after an engineer has been out the problems persist within days of him leaving.

Never had problems with Virgin Broadband , until they introduced this "Traffic Management" system. I go over the 750mb limit between 4-9 (my peak playing time for games etc) and I'm penalised with a 2.5mb limit (which i pay for out my own pocket) This limit lasts for 5 hours from the moment you go over the peak, even if that's at say 20:55.

Rubbish service. I joined Virgin because i thought its fiberoptic service and offering good speed. Using it for a year now. Drops the connection in the middle of the work. Having this problem continuously. You call them, and response is (from India), your line seems fine. Engineers came and checked everything, and "everything is working fine". But I keep loosing connection.
Since yesterday I am having problem, called Virgin, and again guy offered me £8 compensation (I lost work of &pou ...

Virgin Media......Absolute nightmare from day one. Recommend a friend? I did it twice and never saw any hint of the promised £30.00 'reward'. Got so frustrated I had to call customer un-support with the dreadful speeds my so called 'up to 10mb broadband'was running at. It was getting unusable to the point of being unable to download even a page under a minute. Had to use my mobile which will probably require me to take out a bank loan and after eons of questions, was directed to a broadban ...

If you want a telephone, broadband landline package steer clear of virgin.
But as for virgin service they do try but seem unable to listen to the customer concerns!
That said i would recommend that you consider a non package contract as there are plenty to be had other than virgin!
Virgin has many problems with technical issues regards their broadband, as I have experiance, through their customer service, they allways say that the issue I have is due to technical problems!
    How ever in fairness ...

Virgin Broadband, in short, a very very poor service. Constant drop-outs, disconnection, loss of service. Even when it stays connected the service has constant lag spikes, effectively making the service usless for on-line games. As long as you dont mind waiting 15-30 seconds for the page to load. Customer service is probably the worst i have ever encountered.
