Good Points: Performance, looks and cheap to run.
Bad Points: Engine rattle when cold, poor handbrake.
General comments: I have had my Corsa SRI CDTI for about 2 years now. I bought it from my local Vauxhall dealer when it was just over a year old. It is now about to run out of warranty. I say this because in the time that I have had it , it must have spent over 2 months in the garage (on and off) and the A.A assistance that comes with the car has been useful as most of the time it goes, the dealer is on the back of a recovery truck !. The biggest problem with the car was that it kept stalling and then wouldn't start this was eventually fixed after about 5 trips to the dealer !!!. The only other problem I have is the poor handbrake which if you do not pull so hard that you nearly brake you arm will roll away. I have also noticed that nearly all other Vauxhall's with this powerplant comes with disc brakes all round and maybe this one should have too ! .

I only had mine for a short time and I can already say that the fuel costs are pretty low, I'd get about 110 mpg out of 10 pounds and I put my foot down a lot. only problem I got is a rattley sound from engine when I'm driving [only when the engine is cold] I'm trying to find out what that is and get it fixed.

I have had the car for over 3 months now. I Bought it with 28,000 miles on the clock and was well chuffed because it looks mint and is very fast but it all went down hill from there! I previously owned a Vectra 1.8 SRI, but with the 30,00 miles a year I do, it was becoming a bit too costly. I figured a smaller car would do the job I wanted & looked for something sporty yet economical. The Corsa SRI Diesel filled the role. This Vauxhall Corsa 1.7 SRI CDTI is my 4th Corsa and easily my favourite. A great car to drive. Acceleration from 0 to about 25 is OK but requires fairly swift gear changes from 1st to 2nd. It's only when you get above 30 and the turbo kicks in that you really appreciate the power. At about 2400 rpm the turbo start whistling and off you go!
