“Mis-sold phone insurance”

Written on: 15/01/2016 by KoltenPrice (1 review written)

ABSOLUTELY FUMING!!!!! I have had my present mobile-a Samsung Galaxy 4-for almost 2 years contract from our local Carphone Warehouse. I have been ill from around 2005 suffering severely with post-natal depression after the birth of my son in August of that year made even worse after learning my mum was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) 2 month later in October-the reason that I'm sharing this information will become apparent as I explain. I have recently had some fraudulent activity… Read Full Review

“cancelled with no warning”

Written on: 11/01/2016 by Bee2612 (1 review written)

I got an iPhone 6 plus 16gb from carphone warehouse around may/june, and purchased the geeksquad insurance there and then, which was a wopping £15 by the way, i recently smashed my phone and went to the store to make a claim, only to find out my insurance had been cancelled due to their being "insufficent funds" in my bank, with no written letter or phonecall to warn me, the member of staff from carphone warehouse then called geeksquad to resolve the issue. The person on the other end of the… Read Full Review

“Rude and patronising! ”

Written on: 13/11/2015 by ZacheryPrater378 (1 review written)

My original phone was broken so my dad sent it off for repair as he is the account holder, the replacement phone that was sent broke after a day of receiving it so I took it into car phone warehouse to replace it, I was told that it would have to be sent in from geek squad because it was off my insurance. I was told it would take 48-72 hours for the new phone to be delivered which was fine. I went in 3 days later and was told my phone would be in the next day, I went in two days later to find… Read Full Review

“Rude, arrogant unresolved”

Written on: 12/09/2015 by Dawson1987 (1 review written)

It is with a heavy heart that I must add to the swelling ranks of dissatisfied Carphone warehouse customers. Mine is a sorry yet oh so familiar tale of rudeness and incompetence by the customer care department. . I have become embroiled in this David and Goliath story by Nat West . I have phone insurance via Nat West. I can only wonder at their wisdom in selecting Carphone Warehouse as an intermediary I can't begin to bore you with the depths of their arrogance and incompetence. I will… Read Full Review

“Ignorant staff (kids), replace with a second hand phone.”

Written on: 03/09/2015 by Rubyq243 (1 review written)

I had my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) stolen whilst on holiday. I reported this to the local police and got a police report. I immediately reported it to the network provider also. On my return home I went to the Carphone Warehouse to ask about a replacement phone. After a 30 minute wait I got to speak to a 'Geek' - who was actually an ignorant kid with absolutely no personality, no interpersonal skills and not too bright - perfect, just what I need :-/ I asked if, instead of a replacement… Read Full Review

Terrible with phones so gave into pressures of taking out the insurance when I had a new contract. Dropped phone and smashed the screen. Walked into car phone warehouse store and said can you fix this, he looked up my details took my phone removed sim card said they didn't have the same colour but if I wanted a different colour I could have it that day. I said I didn't mind, he fetched me a brand new phone out the back.. (I did have to pay the 60 excess which I think Is a little steep after… Read Full Review

“Geek Squad is fraudulent”

Written on: 23/10/2014 by bkGutierrez180 (1 review written)

A year ago I started a contract for my teenage son at Carphone Warehouse, for a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Being a teenage lad, I thought it would be prudent to take out a plan that included insurance on the handset. I duly did, and was told that policy details would be emailed to me. Nothing came, but life being busy as it is, time went by. Sure enough, six months later, he broke the screen on the phone. I went to the store to ask if this was covered under the policy. Tap tap tap, and… Read Full Review

Agree. I Purchased a phone from Carphone Warehouse on-line with Geek Squad insurance. On collecting the phone from the store the staff were unable to activate the insurance. They were told by Geek Squad that there was a computer problem which would be rectified in 24 hours. Two further visits to the store and the same story: a comp prob which would be fixed within 24 hours. I complained and was given a reference no. and sometime later a letter arrived saying that my complaint was being investigated. Nothing for a month so I emailed the contact given in the letter asking when I would get my complaint dealt with. That was 8 months ago.. Silence. Avoid this company like the plague.

“Easy and Stress free”

Written on: 20/10/2014 by Baird467 (1 review written)

I recently dropped my one month old iPhone 6 in my dog's water bowl. Obviously it was broken beyond repair. I took my phone to Carphone Warehouse the same day and my claim was approved on the spot. They then ordered a brand new replacement, which was delivered 2 days later (I reported it broken after 5pm so not within the next working day replacement time scale). I could not be more thankful, the staff were so helpful and luckily I have only had to be without my phone for 2 days. I had to… Read Full Review

“Totally Misleading ”

Written on: 28/09/2014 by Reynolds118 (1 review written)

I purchased a new Galaxy S4 Mini through mobiles.co.uk. The package included insurance at £8 per month. Mobiles.co.uk used PhoneCare to issue a policy. The policy issued by PhoneCare charged a premium of £10 per month - a 25% overcharge. Now neither will amend the policy to the advertised premium. Neither accept responsibility but blame each other. Either a policy at £8 is available or Mobile.co.uk are issuing misleading advertisements. … Read Full Review

“Extremely satisfied!”

Not buying a phone case finally came back to haunt me as I had dropped my phone and smashed the screen. I took it into the Geek Squad at Carphone Warehouse the next day, they approved my claim on the spot and rather than repairing the phone, I received a brand new replacemnent phone. On top of this, they even discounted the excess I had to pay. Incredible and easy service, very courteous employees and justifies what I initially thought was a high premium… Read Full Review

Absolutely hounded when buying the phone to insure it, he spent 20 minutes talking about it at the counter, and i gave in just to get out of there, glass of screen broke in last month after a years use, after paying 15 per month, or 180 by now, and they demanded a €50 euro excess fee to replace a part that cost a little over 30 euro in most shops. When i asked if i would be provided with a phone while they were fixing mine, i was told i'd be given a "feature phone" , a €15 euro samsung… Read Full Review

No you don't get it for free. That's the whole point of insurance. You don't think that you would pay your car or home insurance and your tv or car breaks and you would get a new one for free. You pay an excess fee for these things. Don't take the insurance if your just going to moan about it. Just save up for the phone instead next time

“Rubbish”

Written on: 08/03/2014 by trevrev7 (1 review written)

I bought an Alcatel 282 from Carphone warehouse. They talked me into paying for insurance. It locked within two weeks. I returned it.They did not refund for phone or insurance. I have now received a letter to renew my insurance. I have telephoned twice and emailed twice to cancel the renewal. They say I must take two forms of ID along to a branch of Carphone Warehouse before they will stop billing me for insurance for a phone I don't have. I will never buy from them again… Read Full Review

“Terrible service. 6 weeks still no phone.”

Written on: 08/03/2014 by Rozzz (1 review written)

My Samsung S4 became faulty under warrantee and I was directed by Samsung to get my phone fixed at Geek Squad Store in Oxford Street, as it is Samsung accredited. I’m posting here today due to the terrible service I’ve received- other customers should be aware so they don’t have to endure the awful journey I’ve experienced and go elsewhere to get devises fixed. Kate Baker's experience with Geek Squad (26th January- who knows?!) 26th January: Took faulty phone to Geek Squad, unable… Read Full Review

“Such poor service after money I've paid”

Written on: 01/03/2014 by TimothyKendall (1 review written)

They take your money month after month when nothing goes wrong and then give such poor service when something goes wrong - don't bother. If you have an Iphone it is £15.00 a month - so after a year you have paid £180 - and then they can't get a replacement phone to you with 24 hours. Also they make you go to a carphone warehouse store, where the staff don't really understand how the insurance works and so you get misleading information on whether the phone should be delivered to the store… Read Full Review

But they also take the broken handset off you, even broken 5s is selling on ebay now for £140 geek squad are paying there sales staff on comission basis so they want (need) you to buy there useless insurance and they will tell you anything to get the sale. Then when you do make a claim after 24 months they give you a 2nd hand repaired iphone that has been repaired by them without genuine apple parts. Given that you could get upto £140 for your broken iphone5s and the policy would cost £360 plus the £60 access equalling £560 and you can buy a used working iphone5s like the one they will send you for about £260 cheaper option would be to not bother with the muppets!! p.s prices quoted are ebay sold items

I got an insurance with Geek squad when I got my phone in store. The sales guy talked me into believing it was the best insurance I ever lost my phone or it could not be repaired, I will be given a brand new phone. At no point during this conversation did this guy mention that I will be given a used phone. 3months later, I misplaced my phone, after going through a claims procedure where I dad to give minute to minute account of my day, my claim was accepted and the next day, I was sent a used phone- they termed it "refurbished".

I have gone through their complaint procedure and they still maintained that I should have read their terms and conditions. To them, it is ok for their sales reps to tell you whatever they have to tell as long as they make a sale. It is the customers responsibility to go home and sift through what they have beentoldto figure out what is true and what is not. I have now been without a phone for over a week and Iam waiting to get a letter from them so I can go to the Ombudsman.

I WILL NOT RECOMMEND this company at all.
