For a 1.2 reasonable power, just been driving v-astra 1.6 and the stilo has more torque.
Good fuel 45-50 on a longer run (average speed 45-50)this is what your average speed is, taking all the stops and starts.
Never had any trouble starting or running. It does show up temporary fault warnings due to dampness,(usually when parked at odd angles) unless thay stay on you just ignore them.
Good seats good comfort. They are cheap to buy compared to some equivelents but continue to depreciate. This 3… Read Full Review

I'm a new driver on the road and I have just bougth a Fiat Stilo 1.2 16 valve. Apart from a few dodgey electrics its a good runner with a sharp 1st and 2nd gear (something all new boy drivers like) I think its quite good… Read Full Review

Written on: 24/09/2007 by Red Slug (1 review written)

How do I begin? We have had nothing but problems since buying the Stilo due to the computer continually throwing up engine fault codes which no garage, including the Fiat Dealer, seem able to diagnose. We are continually throwing good money after bad! This engine fault code system is a huge con - yes, we can take the car to independent garages but their equipment cannot diagnose all the fault codes - we have to take the car to a Fiat Dealership who then charge £70 just to clear the fault codes… Read Full Review

All Fiat dealers have this swindle with the diagnostic computer. I've had it on the Coupe, Stilo and now on the Barchetta. €100 just to turn the airbag lights off...

A common problem is the airbag wiring under the driver's seat. Don't adjust the seat fore-aft with the ignition on or you could need to reset the system..I kid you not!

Having enjoyed three years of trouble free motoring with my Fiat Stilo Active Air Con 1.2 5dr, I was looking forward to p/e for a new Stilo. P/e values quoted by 2 Fiat garages I went too were absolutely ridiculous. Sums quoted were 50% of the marked price of similar models on their fore court with much higher mileage than mine. I'm afraid Fiat cars are a no-no from now on… Read Full Review

Since buying the Fiat Stilo I have become more and more attached to it. I think it is a great family car - it's not a racy, pacy type of vehicle, but in terms of comfort, handling and everything else I find it to be great!… Read Full Review

Spacious, comfortable and well thought out but too many faults to recommend the Fiat Stilo Active. Problems not helped by attitude of Fiat main dealer. Took threats of legal action and solicitors letters to get the faults fixed.
Feed back on other sites says later models 1.4 upwards (Stilo Mk2) are a lot better. They need to be… Read Full Review

Rung in a rage by the new owner. Air Con has died again (3rd time) and front tyres wearing rapidly on the inner edge. Dealer advises €€€ to reset front suspension. The brute is 3 years old with 35k miles. Don't buy one!!

Written on: 01/06/2004 by mr s webb (1 review written)

I have owned the Fiat Stilo Active for 2 months and it has spent more time in the garage than on the road, the computer management lights come on at will, the fuel consumption is obscene, and the car is grossly under powered. Is this why they only produce the 1.4 version now?… Read Full Review

I honestly dont know what tis reviewer expects, its Italian! Seriously, the reviewer must have a bad un because ours is very good. Granted the on board computer does tell lies, but ours is fixed now by TJ Vickers, maybe its your dealer who is the problem? If you want reliable buy a Japanese car, faceless as they are they are reliable! The Stilo is different, cool looking, says something more than "I am a shopping trolley" about the driver. Buy the Hot version if you want to set the road alight though, economy in ours is average 42mpg... yes 42! not bad for a petrol!!

Alfoso maybe someone could tell us all how we speak to Numero Uno within FIAT Italia? I feel sure they would want to know how their hard work in design and development is spoiled by the trashy Agents? The new Punto Grande looks great but my wife won't touch another Fiat, even though the only problem we have had is the computer and it Airbag problems. For a 1200 (strangled by exhaust emission regs and catalysers) its not bad for a runaround or a first car as they get 2 to 3 years old and beyond. Its a secondhand 2003 Nissan Micra for her next time, our daughter has a 10 year old example with 120,000 on the clock and it is totally dependable.

Fiat dealers are often the problem. Weird being charged Audi money for lousy service by staff who often appear absolutely disinterested in the job.
I had opposite ends of the Fiat family (glutton for punishment?) a Coupe which was the fastest highest performance car Fiat made. One mechanic in the local dealership was great..he had one as well and the service was excellent. Same dealership did the worst service I've ever had on the Stilo..inc greasy hand prints up and down the white roof headliner. Its all down to people.

My other car is an old Fiat Coupe 2L. Old Italian high performance - part of the ownership is EXPECTING things to go wrong. However on a newish town runaround with all the modern bells & whistles etc you sure don't.

I'm an owner of a fiat, but I can't understand those dealers of yours. If they're the reason that fiat goes down why don't they undertake something? I'm not having trouble with because there are very few in my country. My advice is: drive these gorgeous cars and keep them in decent condition by repairing them in your local garage. It works...beleive me :)

i am glad you are pleased with your stilo.alas mine broke down yet again the other week and has now been in the garage for 2 weeks.you are right in saying it is my dealer thats at fault and i am in the proccess of taking them to court.
i am sorry to say that all italian cars are like the tanks they made in the 2nd world war-they go faster backwards than forwards?
i am not after a raceing car-just one that works!
