Good Points: None
Bad Points: Not a real mobile phone service provider
General comments: This company seems to behave like a service provider: it provided a promotional phone offer for an online share trading site as if it was a normal phone retailer. They are basically a big corporate client of BT Cellnet and they then resell the phone and rebill all the calls that BT Cellnet charges them. Since they are a big client that is buying loads of phones and connections they get a good rate from BT Cellnet. They then create a charging structure for the end user that leaves mainstream with a profit.
However, they are not a registered service provider so operate outside Oftel rules. What is more, users are not registered as users of Cellnet. This means, for example that it is virtually impossible to port your number to another network. This because this must be done by the registered user, in this case Mainstream and not the end user. This makes for a lot trickery on Mainstream's part to make it seem like they are a service provider.
Steer well clear if you come across them!
