Been to sun tropical 3 times, thinking of going again in April, not been since 2007,First Choice are not promoting it after April 25 on the internet site,so dont know if its closing down to be refurbished or its just not going to be one of there apat/hotels anymore, there is a new apart/hotel holiday village opened in Playa Blanca,Flamingo Beach resort which is all inclusive only,so this may be the new First Choice holiday village, every time we have been we have had a good holiday, you get what you pay for,Playa Blanca is a lovely little town, just what I like,,

It was my first holiday away. I was a bit nervus because i didnt know what to ecspect. when i got to Sun Tropical the people were so welcoming. They gave us a list of things that were going on in the week. The food was really nice . The pools were really clean and there was alot for activities on for kids to enjoy.on a night time you can go to the dome, they have shows that can entertain you and you're family. The staff put on a really good show. In playa blanca there is something for everyone. You have the beach which do watersports such as Jetski and Flyfish. The people of Playa Blanca will help you with anything, thats how nice they are. On some nights we went to playa blanca for a meal to see what it was like. we went to a chines resturant, the food was really nicely prepared, and the staff were lovely. i flightd with First Choice and I went to Sun Tropical Playa Blanca Lanzarote. Its a great place for familys to go for a holiday. i loved it. there is so much to do. Teenagers will like it to. I WOULD GO AGAIN .

Arrived in Playa Blanca, Holiday Village Sun Tropicalresort on 26th march and stayed for two weeks. The first week the place was fairly deserted which was great as the kids clubs entertain the kids every day and they were more than happy to go which helped the parents relax. The club is well run with the kids signed in and out.there are loads of pools around the resort with depth of 1.5m max, too deep for very small kids tho smaller jacuzzi type pools are around resort.the restaurant was fine with a good selection, having stayed the two weeks we noticed the menu was repetitive in the 2nd - no big deal.
Make sure you bring your E111 for free medical through the general hospital, two of our childern fell ill with a very nasty bug with vomiting and diahorrea which knocked one off his feet for five days, it was really scary and we were so concerned we had a doctor called. The doctor came to our apartment checked his temp which was 38.8c and said it was viral and probably from the pool water.he prescribed tablets which i found out the next day were travel sickness tablets!! My medical knowledge is limited but I know you dont stop vomiting in order to get rid of a bug. This was confirmed by a senior nurse from the uk who i rang. Advice- bring calpol and a thermostat - dont use the doctor at 120 euros a shout plus 43 euro for useless tablets. Since coming home our third kid has started vomitting too which is why i gave 8/10 inside of 9 or 10/10

I went to Holiday Village Sun Tropical last February with my wife and 2 kids and it was brilliant. Very clean and quiet, staff were very friendly. Plenty to do and see. I hired a car for 2 days in the lobby of the hotel and went all over the island and it was fantastic. I would advise anyone to do it. We're going back in July... Excellent holiday. Only bad point was people in the apartments above us were feeding the birds in the morning and they were making a mess down on our patio. Didn't want to come back.

We had a great holiday and I would go back, the weather was excellent. It has a nice atmosphere and is very child friendly my son had a fantastic time. The reps that work with the children are really good at their jobs.

With 5 Swimming pools we were spoilt for choice. The daytime reps were great fun with plenty to do for the kids. The evening Entertainment was very poor, almost like Butlins but worse. Lifting apples banana's & oranges out of a hat behind there back & getting the crowd to guess which fruit!! Boring!! Overall had a great time, 20 mins from marina & 15 mins from main restaurants.

Overall I really enjoyed it. There was a lot to do at night time, the shows were great, and I found the entertainers REALLY funny!

Just arrived home from a week at Sun Tropical, self catering. The pools are fab and the supermarket friendly and value for money. The apartment was one of the best equipped I have stayed in. The maid cleaned the room to a high standard every day. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The only down point was the walk to the restaurants and the beach in the blazing hot sun, but once there, is well worth it. Good choice of food in the restaurants overlooking the beech. Fabulous View.

Sun tropical was a beautiful place to stay and very safe as you had to have a card to open the gates. There is lots of games during the day and the entertainment at night was very good! Going back this year for the first 2 weeks in july!

I found that the resort is very laid back if you want it that way and the rooms were great and weather was great and the food is not bad. I am going back so that says a lot for me as I am very picky and look for the bad things haha.,

Myself and my husband stayed in Sun Tropical over Christmas. We really recommend it, especially if you had kids. I agree with the other reviewers who recommended the Nags Head over Paddy Mac's bar. The staff who run the bar are very friendly and the breakfast is the best. They also do evening meals (they stop serving at 9.30).

We wen't for Xmas and New Year and had a lovely time. Place kept very clean and tidy with lovely pools and gardens.
Staff very pleasant and First Choice staff available every day if needed. We didn' t need them.
In Playa Blanca on the seafront is a wonderful Indian restaraunt calle Spices.Food and service top class.
In town, upstairs above Paddy Mac's Bar is the Nags Head. You could easily miss it.Lovely couple run it and sells John Smiths on Draught and the best breakfast in Playa Blanca.

Would definitely recommend Holiday Village Sun Tropical and would go again. Ideal for our 15 mth old son but don't have a ground floor apartment as no barriers and could walk straight out to pool. Lovely terraces on first floor apartments. Well equipped accomodation.

Staying the Holiday Village Sun Tropical was the best package holiday in the sun I've ever had. Perfect for families. Everything in the village is close by, reps always in reception to give advise and help. Staff friendly and helpful. Chicken shack food is a bit basic but people use it as it's convenient to the pool. Didn't try the Italian but it looked OK. The Buffet is handy if you have kids as the food is ready straight away. It was pretty good but preferred to go into Playa Blanca and overlook the sea in one of the many restaurants. It costs no more than 3 euro's to get there. On the whole, Loved it and would go again for sure.

Overall, if you eat out of the resort it was an excellent place to holiday. I really do recommend it, I have already been telling friends and family to book up. It's set in a beautiful part of the island, which is calm and friendly (although I was there in April, I don't know how it would be in August). The local restaurants are excellent, try the grill bar on the front, you can't miss it because the smell of the BBQ gets you at 100 paces, the other restaurants and bars are great too. The supermarkets in the town are cheaper than in the hotel and have much more choice. Duty free is excellent there too. The beach and shops and bars etc are about a ten minute walk away. The beach is small and busy but quite pretty. There is so much to see and do in Playa Blanca. I would say that it is a great place for a family holiday, young kids would really enjoy it, we just went as a couple and we enjoyed it too but not a place for teens or young groups.

We had just the loveliest holiday. We took our two small children (22 months and 8 months), and they had a great time. We would highly recommend Holiday Village Sun Tropical in Lanzarote. The children were well catered for (loads of clubs and activities), although we didn't use them (our kids were a bit too young). Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff.

We've just got back and I had to write a review because I read all the reviews before we went away, and I even tried cancelling to self catering because of what other people were saying, but to be honest I'm glad we didn't. The food was good. Full English breakfast every morning. Dinner was okay in the restaurant. The shack around the pool had toasties, burgers and hot dogs. Lunch was good with different meats, loads of veg and salads every night. The beer was cold and there was loads of it. Because we were all inclusive we could only get local produce for free, all the alcopops had to be paid for. (2.5 Euros for half a beer).
The reps during the day were brilliant, with smiles on their faces working really hard, and normally with a group of kids following like puppy dogs. There was loads and loads for the kids to do, from water polo and rope climbing to soccer school and volley ball, and also quiz's around the pool. And if you wanted to watch the evening entertainment, the kids could escape to the kids club and play on the PlayStation's, play air hockey, watch TV or just talk to friends.
The accommodation was 4 star. We had full size baths (it's great if you take little kids). All the apartments had air conditioning and TV, toaster, kettle, pots and pans (if you're thinking of self catering). The maid comes every day except Sundays, cleaning around, making the beds and changing the towels. Their English is poor, so if you need anything go to reception, who are on the ball with advice, maintenance and complaints. We took 2 teenage girls and didn't feel safe with the rooms they put us in, and within 5 minutes our rooms where changed.
The shop on site was cheap, with lots of English brands, and the shops in town were cheaper. The Netto in town is ten times more expensive than at home, but has loads of English brands. The shops in town were good, with loads of variety from bric a brac to perfume. Shop around because the prices do come down. Duty free prices were really good, and we found 200 B&H Red at 8 Euros and 1 litre of Vodka at 10 Euros.
Do get the back gate key. It's a 5 Euro refundable deposit, but it knocks 10 minutes off your walk into town. You can get taxis to and from town from 2.3 Euros. The locals are really friendly and they do not push to buy.
Whilst we were there I asked other people what they thought, and they have been returning to the village for the past three years. The general thought was it is getting better, and the operators are listening to reviews and improving on the negatives. Maybe that's why there isn't anything to complain about.
I will be returning to the Holiday Village Sun Tropical in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, and I have already told friends and family about it.

The Sun Tropical Holiday Village in Lanzarote is a great place for families, with great swimming pools and friendly staff.
The entertainment was a bit Butlins-like, but there was no noise, like music thumping all over the place, that you would find in some so-called family resorts. It was just a nice relaxing holiday.
It was a wonderful family holiday, and I am booking there again for next year.
