“Amazing caravan Fantastic site ”

★★★★☆

written by Toddy2 on 24/05/2023

We stayed in a caravan which was perfect at Blue Dolphin Filey. It is big enough for families or a couple. Well behaved dogs are allowed. That person provides cleaning products tea and coffee. Her prices are excellent. The caravan is located on Hill Top which is perfect for getting to where you can have lovely walks along the cliffs or you have a short walk into the sites main attractions, there are plenty of choices for food, Papa Johns, Burger King, the restaurant and bars we ate here the food was good and dogs are allowed in this area. There is another bar near the boating lake which was nice family friendly and dogs too. There is lots to do on the site its very good for everyone. Everything is clean and the grassed area is kept short. I would definitely recommend his caravan for somewhere to stay it's in a perfect pitch, very peaceful and relaxing. The van itself is beautiful inside, plenty of space two bathrooms! We came home after a long weekend, the sun shone each day, totally chilled out. We both agreed that we need to do this more often. Thank you, We had a perfect few days. Can't wait to go again.

“Very disappointed in the accommodation ”

★★★☆☆

written by Morris1919 on 03/10/2022

We have visited most of the Haven sites over Great Britain on your touring sites and but this last one was in a static caravan . First impression looked very nice until my Daughter went into the Main bedroom there was a smell of damp so disgusting you couldn't stay in the room, In the kitchen area, we found a dead moth underneath the dinning table also down the settees a number of peices of rubbish which should have been checked by the housekeeping staff, there was also a dirty sock and dirt and grim round both the table and door handles we are very disappointed with the lack of empathy from the bosses I contacted and received something more than just sorry , there was also the report of the outside light not working which was still not corrected when we left , very disappointing

“Brigg house Restaurant ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kiddss289 on 17/09/2022

We booked a table for two, we then ordered 2 starters, 2 main course with a bottle of wine and 1 beer. The bill came to £73.00, the food was cold, we had to ask and get our own cutlery. The second drink didn't arrive, we asked the staff for 30 mins meal times.... be main meal came within 10 mins after asking 2 staff the 30mins waiting time. The food came out quicker than the drinks as the staff forgot the second beer. My wife queed in the bar for my second drink, when she got back the meal was even colder... we complained to the staff, my wife got her meal replaced and her chips. The gave us our £3.00 back in which we left it on the table, my wife didn't enjoy her main and left it. Value for money ... NOT ! Good Service ... NOT ! Recommend to friends .. Absolutely NOT ! This place is ran by young adults and this place is just here ripping people off and making as much money as it can !

“Brighouse restaurant ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Adamschof on 24/10/2020

Shocking service all round completely disinterested staff not even busy, About 12 people in when we arrived poss hold 200 waited ages to be seated, sit here guys” three chairs 4 people, food half comes no cutlery, then a main course missed off our order 15 mins later I cancelled it, again disinterested , and shaking heads Just don’t waste your time and money, not the cheapest which you sort of expect but god knows how bad it would be if they were busy Whilst sat down we watched others stood waiting to be seated for a good while even though there were as many staff as customers

“Brighouse bar and restaurant ”

written by DeniseGoodwin1947 on 25/06/2017

Caravan at resort was excellent however the food at this restaurant was expensive and mostly inedible, manager was not interested in discussing my complaint, feel like I just threw away £46. Mash potato was green and fish was grey yuk, never again!

“very good value & service & disabled friendly”

★★★★☆

written by JasminAtkinson on 30/09/2014

We've just got home after two weeks on the touring caravan site, we had a lovely time all round, we stayed on a euro pitch which was very clean, the only problem we had is that the TV Ariel was broken. The couple who looked after the disabled toilets were great, they always did a fantastic job, they were very friendly & helpful, they had to sort out difficult customers and there problems which they did fantastically, even though it wasn't problems they should have had to deal with. The prices for the mash & barrel & food outlets was ridiculously high but the spar were similar to home. All the staff wherever we went were very pleasant & helpful, & for a disabled person like myself that meant a lot. Everywhere I went was disabled friendly which were great as a lot of places aren't. I would definitely recommend the touring park to others, look out for the lovely couple who look after the toilets/showers they are great & deserve a medal for what they have to put up with.

“unclean, unpleasant campers”

★☆☆☆☆

written by gobbycrew on 01/09/2014

We stayed over the bank hol weekend in a touring caravan myself, husband, two boys age 6 & 4 also my daughter partner and my grandchildren age 3 and 18mths.(my sister and partner were to join us later that day in a tent on the next pitch) when we arrived at our pitch it was muddy and litter in the bushes,my grandson only 18mth did cry hear and there as toddlers do, to which people in a tent in front of us only to shout loud abuse at him whist hiding in their tent! we didnt want to report this due to not wanting any trouble from them. when my sister arrived late afternoon had to ring reception because there was some one still on their allocated pitch which was very inconvenient to have to get someone removed. As for the site itself the rubbish bins were overflowing hence litter scattered about and the pitches very poorly marked out we had two families saying they was on our pitch 76 (they were on 76'A were ever that was??)also the toilets in the entertainment area were smelly, didn't flush properly poo still floating around when people have used the loo! never any hand wash and the dryers didn't work. Food in the mash and barrel was basic and the coffee awful music very loud for a restaurant couldn't hear your self think. staff were polite though so that was a little positive I suppose. staff can only work with what they have got. The onsite chippy closed very early when kiddies entertainment finished thought we would get them some tea maybe not,so had to do food shop at the spar and cook hence very hungry tired children by the time this was done. Will not be returning to Haven anytime soon to say the least.

“Fellow Campers - A bit of consideration please!”

★★★☆☆

written by Nataliah357 on 08/08/2014

The site is in a good location and the grounds are well kept. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. This was my first stay at the Blue Dolphin but I wouldn't go back to stay. The site was clean, but there was definitely a lack of refuse bins. Despite the bins being emptied daily, there was always rubbish lying around the bin areas due to the seagulls pulling at the black bags and emptying them over the surrounding areas. More bins would help. The water temperature in the showers fluctuated from scalding to freezing and there was always a queue for the showers. The water spurted everywhere and soaked dry clothes hanging in the "dry" area of the shower cubicle. The dirty water didn't drain away as the floor wasn't sloped enough. Every time you went into the cubicle you had to step into dirty water left by the previous person. The sinks in the washing up area were left filthy by the guests staying on the site, which meant you had to clean the sink before placing your bowl of dishes into it. As regards to the entertainment, I did enjoy this. The only thing that put me off going was having to walk through the arcade. The drinks were incredibly expensive (I was £9.00 for a pint of larger and small glass of white wine). The pitches for the tent area not defined, so you pitch your tent where you like. This caused a problem for us when someone set up their tent immediately opposite our tent and left no room for our vehicle. If there were defined pitches there would be no inconvenience to fellow campers and everyone would know where they were supposed to be.

“Need to sort kids stuff out”

★★☆☆☆

written by Jill56 on 29/06/2013

We came back early from our holiday, having spent most of the time trailing round looking for things to entertain the kids after 4 o clock. What Haven should realise is these are summer nights and some kids do not want to be cooped up in the club. The caravan a deluxe was nice , but the toilet was discoloured, even though it had a label on saying it had been sanitised. They need cleaning first. The fire broke on the Monday we reported it because we had a baby with us but had to report it again tues, we had a baby with us who was cold all night. I think the facilities are very tired, and the management need to look at what they call wonderful facilities. A family with a few kids could not afford to go there, some of the food prices were very high and the shop prices were sky high. Will never go back.

“Ok ”

★★★☆☆

written by honeyspurs on 25/08/2012

Had a week in Blue dolphin deluxe caravan and it was clean and tidy on arrival, only problem was the shower head was broken and thread had gone and they fixed it the next day. The gas bottle ran out early one morning and it was replaced in 10 minutes which was impressive. Staff mostly friendly, downfalls were that the only place to actually sit down and eat was the mash and barrell which had a good menu and good service, but because it was the only place with satellite Tv, it meant that if you went in during a football match it was almost impossible to find a seat as they were all taken with football fans, not eating just watching. I am a big football fan myself but thought that maybe there could have been seperate area for Football watching etc. The showbars were ok for kids but both were geared towards kids and not really much for adults and there was a lot of gaps between one thing happening and the next and it was so loud. Staff were mostly very pleasant and they cannot be made accountable for the amount of rude, obnoxious guests. Overall and ok place although we went out and about and explored Yorkshire everyday as the camp itself did not have enough to keep us entertained even our little girl who is 9 found it boring during the day as all there really was to do was swim. We were ok as we were entertained outside the park but if you are a local to Yorkshire then it would not be recommended at all.

Dear sir/Madame we have relocated the TVs and extended the mash and barrel for this reason. We have also included a free wifi area with free charger facilities.

You can enjoy the new gastro menu or 25% off between Monday to Friday 15:00 until 17:00.

Thank you for your Advise as we like to hear out loyal customers comments. I'm the restaurant manger. I have enjoyed being a holiday maker, owner and a employee of Bourne leisure for many years. When you book a holiday next time please ask for myself so we can enjoy a coffee on me and chat about the new ma's and barrel. Kind regards

“Brilliant holiday park ”

★★★★★

written by on 18/05/2012

Went to blue dolphin with two kids and four adults, the park was clean tidy and well looked after, the caravan was clean and. Tidy and had everything that was needed, the kids entertainment was second to non and our kids loved every minute of it, the food and drink prices were great and the quality was good for the price paid. The park is close to everything children want and we will be going back next year.

Just back from a week at Haven's Blue Dolphin resort. Upgraded to 2011 model caravan which was very good. Exceptionally clean when we arrived. Park facilities are good, but very disappointed in the new swimming pool which is only just chest deep and I am only 5ft 2. Definately for kiddies. Mash and Barrel has had a complete overhall. Food we had was excellent. The on site Papa John's lost out to local takeaway's which offered much more Pizza for your money. Kids entertaiment lounge was always mobbed, with no chance of a seat and if not many in the other lounge they close it!! Only real negative was the entertainment lounges. Entertainment during the week is still limited to "funstars" doing party dances so spent 3 nights in caravan watching movies with a box of beer and a takeout. Highly recommended for saving the pennies.

I thought the park was very good overall, the accomodation was nice and the section of park we stayed in was nice and will return. Shop, food, swimming pool were all good and the childrens entertainment was great, however.... I was not happy with the 'slang' used by the girls on stage calling each other 'minga', I thought this was totally inappropriate especially for the little ones. Surely there are other words, less crude which could of been used. As for bingo, I wish the girls just concentrated on calling the numbers insteade of messing about as some were easily missed or even mis-understood and my kids were getting quite confused - it didn't help with the bingo box being broken so the 6 looked like a 5.

Turned up Today 24th Oct 10 touring pitches in a diabolical state. We managed to get the van on a pitch but we had mud all around us it was awful. Locked the van up and drove round the site a couple of times looking for a better pitch, all in vane. Weather was very bad but there is no effort or thought put into the pitches its just a few sloping fields with some very rough track seperating them. We sent the kids off to the pool while we tried to sort things out.I'm not a fussy bloke but there was no way we could spend five days in those conditions. Staff fine about it a and refunded our fees. We went to pick the kids up from the pool and they couldn't have been more disapointed. The rest of the facilities looked fine for what it is and I'm sure the kids would have loved it but I'm afraid we couldn't spend five nights on the Somme.

“We arrived home today after our first "SUN" voucher...”

★★★★☆

written by on 22/10/2010

We arrived home today after our first "SUN" voucher holiday at Blue Dolphin and i have to be honest in saying that it really was nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be after reading these reviews before we went. We had a great time and think it was great value for money doing this deal with the Sun newspaper but there is no way i would pay full brochure price. However i would agree that there is room for some improvement! The tables in the Galaxy bar are desperate for a good scrub for starters!
However in the parks defence we found the static caravan to be clean and more than adaquate and when our gas bottle ran out at 9pm a lovely guy came within half an hour to change it then also went to his own caravan and leant us his tv ariel as ours wasn't working, which didn't bother us anyway as we don't normally take a tv away with us. We did not encounter any mobs of chavs but it was a fairly quiet week in October, i wouldn't like to go in peak season!
We also have a touring caravan and i would totally agree with previous comments, Haven is NOT the place for tourers unless it's very cheap (we paid a total of £6 for 3 nights at Haven's Haggerston Castle in September and it wasn't worth that!) You should avoid the toilet blocks and use showers at the pool instead!
My parting comment has to be that i also think the general public are a force to be reckoned with including the man who "threw" his coffee across the bar carpet after "missing" the step from the bar and the lady who arrived in the bar at 10.15 with all her dirty linen in her arms(check-out is 10 o'clock) then shouted about how ridiculous it was that she had to take it to Reception! Altho this is clearly stated on the envelope your keys are in!!! I feel sorry for the staff who have to deal with these numpties and think they deserve a medal as they probably get paid peanuts!
