Certainly one of the best bikes ever built by Yamaha.Perfect handler, devastatingly fast - it even keeps up with modern bikes. Only negative point must be the poor fuel consumption when ridden hard, which the bike begs you to do.

Yamaha FZR1000 has fantastic power, handling is excellent, mines the foxeye model and looks great although i must say i like the look of every model made. still looks modern even though it is sixteen years old. nobody needs more than this for the road and its not too uncomfortable for a sports bike.

what can i say about the Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP RU 1000 ! the bike is an icon. possibily the only bike from its era that can cut it with the modern stuff. roll on aceleration in top gear
    good looking
more power than you can ever use
    good build quality
    decent pillion seat
if you secure a minter then cherish it !!!!!
The only downsides i feel are fuel consumption
    mirrors
    heavy by modern standards.

My 1990 Yamaha 3GM/LK series is a California bike (just has fuel vapour recycler) but I have dispensed with the Exup valve and fitted a full Akropovic system. Full power is quite awesome but town riding suffers. Pops from the exhaust are cured by paying attention to the tickover - no higher than 900rpm and all is well. Rear tyres (Dunlop 208 - excellent grippers) last for 3000 miles with fronts twice that. Takes 4 miles to warm tyres in summer and up to 10 in winter - do not recommend trackday r ...

Good feeling on the bike, you feel confindent and just want to go faster. I have this bike for 1 month, it is from 94, 2 eagle eyes, and it cost me 1400 Euros in Portugal.
I had before a GS1000G from Suzuki and a seven fifty from Honda.
    I'm loving the FZR1000!

The bad points aren't a big deal when you consider I commute every day to and from work and a quick shakedown on the long way home.should be very capable on b roads after retuning shocks.sprocket conversion sounds like a really good modification, like it wasn't fast enough.

I will never sell my Yamaha FZR1000, you just can't go faster for less money. I got mine for a grand and I love it. The speed and handling are great. The only bad point is that the fuel consumption/oil light comes on sometimes when these levels are actually OK.

This is the first true super bike where they got every thing right. A well balanced sports bike that is full of manageable power, with handling that inspires you to ride harder, and when you do overcook it's forgiving. I've been riding bikes for 26 years from CBRs, ZXRs LC 350 Crossers and trials. My mates have all got new R1s GSXRs and TLs, but on a run out, well let's just say any thing they can do I can!

    Hi.

I own a 1992 Yamaha FZR 1000 Exup RU model.

I have had this bike about a year now, previous to this I had a Kawasaki ZZ-R 1100 and a Honda CBR 900RR-S FireBlade, I can honestly say, hand on heart that the Exup would smoke them both!

No bike I have ever been on has ever made me grip the tank with my knees or grit my teeth so hard under fierce acceleration as the Exup does.

One modification that you must make is to install 16-tooth front sprocket and a 48-tooth rear, once you do th ...

The Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP RU 1000 is first big bore sports bike and I am not disappointed. Cheapish to buy. Mine is a 1995 Foxeye and I paid £2500 2 years ago. Took it up to Scotalnd a few weeks ago with the lads and saw in excess of 170mph down Glencoe. I left the Firestorms, Triumph 955i's & CBR600's standing.

I'd still like to try a Blade or a GSXR1000, but not affordable at the moment due to wife & 3 Kids.
