Good Points: Good speed during the day up until 16:00

Bad Points: Evening speeds are very poor, 2kbs not uncommonPay premium rate to contact support / help deskNot unlimited downloads despite their advertsNo way of checking download totals as far as I am awareNo prior warning when they automatically cap you for exceeding 5Gb download limit between 16:00 and 24:00 over a week as far as I am concerned.

General comments: Replies to my emails to the help desk are inconsistent in my opinion from my experience -Told I have not been cappedIf I was capped I would be emailed to let me knowI was cappedThere is no procedure for informing users that they are reaching or have reached the download limitI have spent a lot of time and effort checking and gathering evidence to prove poor performance every night for 2 months only to be told, eventually, that my 'unlimited' service has been capped.Look elsewhere - O2 looks the best bet at the moment.

Expensive for me and what it is in my opinion, speeds are never what I actually get as far as I am concerned (when I've run tests the download is closer to 10 MB and the upload - often just 300KB!). Going with Be who are supposedly 4x faster. I do not recommend this internet provider.

Once Virgin and I guess all the other providers, have you on the fixed 12 month contract, they can do what they like in my opinion. I was lucky and got away from Tiscali, before they roped me in. Thats when I joined Virgin (fire , pan jump into, words that come to mind). I am totally fed up with Virgin Media or is it Virgin Net?. They seem to change their name? Customer service in my opinion have grinded me down with copy paste responses to individual inquiries. I have written dozens of letters ...

Customer service was unhelpful in my opinion! Their letters/emails are all standard letters with scripted copy paste inserts as far as I am concerned. They didnt relate to my individual situation.Once they got me on the 12 months contract, I felt they didnt care anymore. I had tried Tiscali, but after a month left in the dark and no connection, I decided to move to Virgin. How I regret this now. I was with demon for ten years and never had reason to complain to them. I'm afraid I got caught up w ...

Everything, They use premium telephone numbers for their tech support lines (25p p min), Their customer service, staff give the impression of being helpful, but once you respond to their copy/paste answer, they pass you on to other departments in my experience. Written responses to emails and letters were treated the same as far as I am concerned, standard letters with copy / paste inserted answers. The system can be slow at times. As far as I am aware they sent my starter kit to the wrong addre ...

I do not recommend virgin.net broadband internet. FUP leaves me throttled to less than 10kb/s in the evening with a customer services dept who refuse to investigate the issue and use a script to reply to queries but fail to answer your questions as far as I am concerned due to my experience.

Between 18:30 and 20:00 download speeds drop to around 80kb/s (just 10KB/s). Customer support is very expensive for me, has long waiting times, and I feel they think the fault is with me. I am not happy with what NTL have done. Status on site shows its there system says that the internet has been degraded due to a 'temporary' fault since 17/03/08 (over 2 weeks.)?

Just had my broadband for 6 months with this company. Deeply regretted it. Once my broadband went down for one week, it took them that long to realise that one of the connection in the local exchange was not fitted properly as far as I am concerned. In the last three weeks they kept capping my bandwidth claiming I have been downloading excessively during peak time between 4pm - 12 am. I was barely doing more than 200 MByte during peak time in my opinion! And they also claim that when they cap my b ...

Poor service (both customer and speed) in my opinion, capped a lot as far as I am aware, even if your not within the top 5% of leechers as far as I am concerned!

Very unhelpful customer service as far as I am concerned (sent 6 emails complaining about there service and as far as I am aware I have not yet got a reply), absolutely ridiculous speeds in my opinion too, slower than dialup after 4pm and I have a 8Mb/s connection (my line here supports 7mb/s). Therefore I do not recommend Virgin.net.

I believe Virgin have probably become too popular and can't cope with the traffic. The management software has made the situation worse in my experiece. Pings are fast (30ms), upload speeds are OK (370Kbs) but download speed is slow or drops off (70bps). I do not recommend www.virgin.net.

I have had Telewst broadband since it was first launched at 512 I have been paying £25 for years and was happy. But not now, I have had my download speed managed and over the last 3 month have an average speed of 1.5Mb/s. They have lost the art of customer service in my opinion. In the last year I have dumped their TV, Telephone and the broadband will be next. Stay clear of Virgin until they sort themselves out, do not recommend www.virgin.net.

In my opinion, poor service, and an unhelpful call centre abroad, after spending 2 minutes explaining that the calls cost 50p per minute. Was better when it was NTLWorld. And they were deteriorating when Virgin came along, as far as I am concerned.

Since signing up to virgin 8meg through my bt line in late January, I got 3.7meg the first time i logged in but only get 1.7 to 2.1 now, compared to 2.2meg every time when it was ntlworld, and that was the 2meg package. They charge me £17.99 per month just for the broadband because we didn't want the call package included, then it would have been £9.95, but I would have lost my bt call bundle. I have been very disappointed with the service and am changing providers to o2.

Install was easy and at the time customer service were brilliant. The service is >99% reliable, only a couple of days outage in 2 years. The pricing has been the downside for a long time compared to the ADSL. But complain and they'll do you a deal like half price for six months! Saying that I get exactly the download rate I pay for, no speed restrictions based on time of day, doesn't matter how far from the exchange I am (no exchange), no downloading caps.

I regret changing from Virgin, they were very cheap and thinking about it their service was poor but in my experience no worse than any other broadband internet provider, AOL Speeds are quicker but not good when considering the price difference.

If you'd asked me a few months ago, I would have had nothing but praise for Virgin. I had been a loyal customer of theirs since the Internet was invented! However, all that changed when I moved house in January 2008... I was on the '£14.99 'Broadband & Home Phone' package, and had been since November 2007. Prior to that, I was on the standard '£17.99 'Broadband' package...I had figured that for '£3 less, I might as well have free home-phone calls as well! They explained to ...

Never choose Virgin if you don;t have a cable because on BT line it sucks badly. the worst broadband I ever had. I could not even watch low resolutions video on internet and sometimes I could not even browse pages.
