I moved house and because I had three months of my virgin media contract to go, I was forced to allow them to provide me with telephone and broadband even though I was moving to a national area. It has been an absolute farce. I had to wait 10 days before my phone was installed then another 14 days before my broadband was activated. My "speed" is 26kb! Sometimes I can't even finish the speed check because it takes so long. I have spent on average 50 mins on hold listening to JLS every day for the last week to try and sort out my slow speeds. I have been told many different things by the tech people, none of which are helpful. I am trying to get rid of them but I fear it is going to cost me!

Lets all be serious here Why are we reviewing them
    badly and that's all?

I have NEVER received such an appalling internet
connection. They say I am not being 'capped' but then,
as an example from 7pm this evening until 12pm I was
getting a speed on a line capable of 8mbs of 0.5mbs AT
BEST!!! Then, suddenly at five minuets past twelve it shot
upto 7mbs. Is it just me, or this this completely
    unacceptable?

Well here is my intention, and we should all do the same.
I am going to contact Virgin Me ...

My Virgin .net connection "up to 8MB ha ha" kept dropping and finally died.
    Helpline said no problems here.
Checked my BT phone service everything fine..........

Bought new phone line, modem , filter and modem connector...no change.

Wiped my computer and re-installed Vista etc..lots of fun....no change

By now I am fearing that I have been cut off for some reason!

That all took a week to do then I called helpline again.

3/4 of an hour later I was informed that I have a data loss
    Oh says I , ...

Worst thing ever. Dont let Virgin optic broad band and faster ever words best you. It is shambles with P2P constantly disconnects. I have had this for about 6 months and cannot wait for 1 year to finish.

Virgin worked alright for a while then went down last year and took a month to fix. Worked okay for five months then down again - sofar three weeks and still no regular connection. if I'm lucky I get a day working then two days not.

Spent too much time and money talking to their call centre, last guy I spoke to said he'd have left them by now. Then again he also said he'd ring back yesterday and I'm still waiting.

Whatever the problem it's never Virgin's fault. It's the BT line, it's their engi ...

my broadband connection with Virgin worked fine until earlier this year I was given an upgrade to the speed which was activated automatically. Since then I am lucky to get 5 minutes of proper responses before it all goes to sleep. Restarting my computer is the only way to get another few minutes of responses. The help desk was a waste of time, blaming anything but Virgin. Pleading to be allowed to go back to the previous "slower" speed did not get any sympathy either. YUK YUK YUK (me ...

I switched to Virgin recently to try save a few pounds as I wasn't getting good value with my old provider. This was a big mistake as I use my connection mainly for gaming and the ping speeds on the Virgin.net ADSL network are terrible. Tech support are poor but at least they acknowledged that their network becomes very busy during peak hours, this suggests that their infrastructure can't handle the amount of users they currently have.

I found customer services didn't seem to do anything about ...

Promised 'upto 8mb', would have been happy with 1mb but got 28k. Sometimes so slow their own on line speed checker fell over trying to register my speed.

I experienced poor speeds and an expensive help line with no refund towards the £45 I spent on phone calls.

Discovered that 'unlimited' usage measures you against people in the surrounding area. I live in Bournemouth, surrounded by older people and I was told that as their usage was low, mine looked high by comparrison, so was constan ...

I've just migrated from Sky BB to Virgin National BB, the MAC code was used, the activation date was 17 days ago and I have had no service from Virgin whatsoever.

I have made appox 30 phone calls to Sky, Bt, Virgin and Ofcom to try and sort it out.

The first week was taken up with getting Easyet (Sky) tags removed. Still no BB.

After trying both my unlocked BT Voyager 210 and VIRGIN'S OWN NETGEAR ROUTER, different filters, cabling etc. I finally managed to convince them that there was a fau ...

I dont know whether one of Britains most successful men, Richard Branson, has anything to do with company or not - but if he does, he would be better off selling and moving on. I have been with Virgin for 1 year. Before this I was with two other ISP's - without any problems. But this year I changed. It was a mistake - and now I am waiting for 31st January - so I can move to anyone else. The reason I changed was because I believed all the marketing-hype that Virgin were airing on our Television, p ...

Been with virgin just over a couple years, I dont think its good value for money.

When Telewest was running the show the service seem to a lot better than it is now!
But since Virgin took over well in my opinion its seem to have gone down hill!

If you want to talk to them and you havnt got a Virgin landline then it will cost you (0870)

Think its time for a change!

After over 3 months of trying I have finally just today received a refund for my overpaid final bill. If you are considering joining virgin. You will be paying up front for a slow, over priced service in my experience, which is not supported by anyone living within a thousand miles of the British Isles as far as I am aware. If you want a real service then go back to a BT line and then get O2. I have been with them for about 3 months now and have had an outstanding service in every way.

Speed issues peak and off peak. Unhelpful customer service I feel, was told engineers are working on the problem every time which has been five or six times in the last few months. Out of morbid curiosity phoned when internet was fine, guess what I was told. I do not recommend Virgin Broadband.

A shocking excuse for an ISP in my experience. If you aren't frustrated by the inevitably low speeds (I'm talking speeds that a dial up modem could overtake), then it'll be the customer support who not only don't care about your situation, but actually don't have a clue (one in particular said that 25 second ping times were "normal"). And then of course they'll screwed up my billing and I had to pay more to this horrendous company.A disappointment really because telewest and ntl before virgin we ...

In my opinion the latest failures aren't technically related, but are due to financial wrangling. I'm told rumours avail about Virgin companies and their high levels of debt. Whilst Virgin.net is not part of the virgin group, who knows if there are legacy problems.

Perhaps BT is a better option if one needs a reliable email service

Horrible at peak times i feel - getting 10% of the speed I was getting from BT Broadband. I know BT is more expensive - I guess it's just a case of you pay for what you get!
    Think I'll be heading back..

I've been a customer since broadband was launched. I never had a problem untill Virgin came on board. I pay for a 20MB line and get speeds of less than 1MB at times. What a joke. Technical support told me it was a problem with my laptop (NOT) 02 Sounds a good bet folks. Ditch Virgin. By the way, I was a loyal customer for 10 years! Not now.
