Tour; Fátima, Lourdes & Shrines Of Spain - Faith-Based Travel Without a doubt the worst tour we have ever been on. Cons; The food is not fit for a dog. Old shabby hotels with mattresses from the 20th century. 1700 miles in the motorcoach.

“Cosmos Tour Leisurely Tuscany and Rome with Sorrento ”

★★☆☆☆

written by Shpringimbet on 10/06/2015

Our two-week trip with Cosmos to Italy was a bitter disappointment. We did not have a tour guide (only a tour director), and all the travel by bus was in complete silence. We would have most definitely NOT went on such a trip had we been told about that in advance. Italy is a country of profound art and culture with a long and rich history, and we were just sitting on the bus without any comment about the towns we were passing, their history, Italian politics of the old and modern times. What a loss this trip was. Cosmos had scheduled our itinerary without any regard to our interests or needs. When we would come to a city listed on our itinerary, we would be given a meager 1.5 to 2 hours to wonder around, and on our own. We were unjustifiably rushed through all the places of interest just to come back to our hotel by 4 p.m. All around there were many groups led by their guides, but we were left to our own devices. In Rome we were placed in three different hotels each time we came there (we started in Rome, went to Montecatino, came back to Rome, went to Sorrento, and were brought back to Rome). Two of them were very far from old Rome, and one of these two was a dilapidated dump. Public transportation to the historic part of Rome was rather poor, and has taken too much of our limited time there. So we were forced to use taxis, which is expensive. No Rome overview excursion was offered to us by Cosmos. Evidently they think that there is not much to see in Rome. There were two optional trips there for an extra charge, one to Coliseum, and the other to Vatican (which for a change had a guide, and were interesting). Our visit to Florence was scheduled for May 1 which is a national holiday in Europe, so all the museums and stores were closed. When we were told about that schedule, our group revolted and forced our trip director to change the itinerary, so we could visit Florence on some other day. We did have a guide there at our “optional” trip to Uffizi Gallery, but we were rushed through Florence, and were hardly able to see anything else there. The second leg of our tour from Rome to Sorrento was organized without any regard to the travelers’ needs, wishes or time. Cosmos did not bother finding transportation for us in Rome; to pick us up they have sent out a minivan from Sorrento. So we were stranded in a bad Rome-suburb hotel till noon. We got no guided trips in Sorrento, not even an optional excursion. We were given the wrong information by our tour director that there were no boat trips around Capri at that time of the year. Luckily there were, which we took on our own. For the Amalfian Coast optional day trip, we were added to another Cosmos group, and this one had a very engaging guide, and we had a wonderful day. On our return from Sorrento to Rome we were forced to leave at noon though our itinerary stated that we had this day in Sorrento. We were driven to Rome to this remote dump of a hotel by 3 p.m. though the itinerary stated that we would be brought there “for the overnight stay”. Bad planning, no regard to our time, false information, no guides almost anywhere, two bad hotels (out of five). And do not even ask me about the “optional Tuscan Dinner” which our tour director had persuaded us to attend at his friend’s restaurant - this was a disgrace. Last year we traveled with Cosmos around Switzerland, and it was a delightful trip, with the tour director who was also a wonderful tour guide, guiding us around, explaining a lot, and never abandoning us, and the hotels were good. It cost us approximately the same there (in a much more expensive country), as this Italian trip has. What has happened to Cosmos? Can they be trusted again? Instead of the advertised guided tour we got a "supervised tour" which should have been significantly less expensive and should have been advertised as such.

“Fabulous customer service”

written by Carolstephens1234 on 22/12/2014

my partner and i would like to say a massive and heartfelt thank you to cosmos holidays. we booked a two week all inclusive holiday staying at adaaran club rannalhi from november 9th till 23rd. we have been to the maldives in the past and loved it so much we decided to return and try another island. to say we were very disappointed on our arrival at this island would be an understatement!. whilst it was nobody's fault but our own for choosing adarran we didn't feel it necessary to start complaining at reception in front of other guests, instead we telephoned Cosmos, informed them of what we were not happy with and asked to be moved to another island at a cost we would cover. i have to say we were so happy with the help we received from cosmos who liaised with crown tours based in male working together to help move us to olhuveli beach & spa Resort, a resort we can literally call Paradise. we had the most amazing 10 nights there which truly made our holiday very memorable . we where so impressed by the service we received so much so we will definitely be booking our next holiday with cosmos and will thoroughly recommend this company. kind regards carol .

Wish I had read these reviews before booking with Cosmos. I would not have booked. Not being collected from the airport and then not acknowledging my complaint is demonstrating little respect to customers. Travellers beware.

“Beware of changes”

Booked an all inclusive holiday to The Auramar Beach Resort (3*) in Albufeira. We had stayed there before so knew that it was literally next to the beach, 10 minutes to the strip and half hour walk to the old town. Seven weeks before our holiday we received an email informing us that due to an outbreak of sickness we were being moved to the Balai Atlantico (4 star) at no extra cost. On checking, I found that this hotel was an hours walk inland. As we had booked a beach holiday and were travelling with two children and my mother-in-law who is in her mid 70's I phoned to inform them that this was not an acceptable alternative. I was advised to find a hotel that I considered to be suitable and to phone back and it would be sorted. There was only one other hotel offered by Cosmos that was all inclusive; the Vila Gale Cerro. I checked the prices; the Balai Atlantico was £2,800 more expensive than the hotel we had booked, the Vila Gale Cerro £3,100 more expensive. I phoned back, expecting to have to pay the additional £300; I was informed I would have to cover the full cost of the change in hotel. I requested to talk to a manager; there was nobody available but somebody would be asked to call me (this was a Wednesday). I phoned again Thursday and was informed my situation was being looked into. Phoned Monday and was informed I would be contacted during that day. Phoned Tuesday to be told I would be contacted within 20 minutes. Bearing in mind that this is not a number that is covered by BT minutes so each phone call was costing me more money, I phoned again an hour later and managed to speak to a manager (though not the one that had been looking at "my problem"). I was informed that they would cover the cost of the move to the Balai Atlantico but I would have to pay to move to a different hotel as I had chosen a 4*. I reminded her that Cosmos were moving me to a 4* hotel at no extra cost but this hotel was not suitable and they were basically removing our right to choice. The response; you have a choice, either go to the hotel we say or pay the full cost of moving. I again stated my case, she then spoke to the accommodation manager who offered us £50 per person towards changing the hotel. Needless to say, we cancelled the holiday, booked with another tour company and won't be using Cosmos again.

“why why why have you shafted us with small planet airlines”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KARENSBILLYBEAR on 05/06/2013

No positives. the rest is awful. 12 1/2 delay outbound followed by a 21 hour delay on the return. Awful customer service...sorry no service. An absolute disgrace. Do cosmos have reps???? Do they care, of course they do. Not about customers only profits. Why have you and Thomas Cook shafted us and not even apoligised. Families have travelled hundreds of miles just to reach the airport to be dumped with small planet airlines. HELLO has anyone told them the world is bigger than their inflated ego. Why oh why do we have to be treated like this.

“Great holiday. ”

written by Linjondix on 17/05/2013

Just returned from a week in Tsilvili Zante stayed at the Hotel Mavrikos found this hotel to be good value for money. The rooms were clean, maids came in every day. Lovely pool. Pool bar was fun, with the lady behind the bar in the day and the guy who took over about 4 o'clock. Food was lovely. Special mention for our Cosmos Rep she was excellent full of information and advice and great fun. Would recommend this hotel we are over 50. There were also younger people with families staying and the children loved the pool. We booked late and were thoroughly satisfied with the service we received.

“Thank you Monarch”

★★★★☆

written by Kateht on 13/03/2013

I have just returned from a girlie weekend in Verona. Having set out early in the morning we finally arrived at the hotel about Lunchtime, it very quickly became apparent the hotel had no knowledge of our booking and were not too bothered about trying to sort it out. They also wasted no time in telling us they were fully booked and so couldn't do anything even though they could see from our paperwork that we should have been there! Thankfully, a call to Monarch soon put the wheels in motion and they sorted out another hotel (amazingly quickly). Monarch also arranged transport for us from the original hotel to our new one and ensured we were happy with the arrangements. They also called a little while later to make sure everything was ok. The replacement hotel turned out to be better than the one we'd booked in some ways and although it wasn't quite as close the Arena and other attractions, it was only a little further out and still walkable distance to everything. If I had to criticise anything it would be that the hotel we stayed at (Hotel San Luca) doesn't have tea /coffee facilities in the room! Thank you Monarch for making sure our holiday was not spoiled! Your attention to customer service proved that it is the response when things go wrong that is as important, if not more so, than the fact that somewhere in the original booking chain there was a break in the link! Thanks again Kate

I had a fantastic week away to Kefalonia last summer with Cosmos Holidays and will definitely be travelling with them again! They were extremely helpful with finding the perfect accommodation to suit my husband and I, and when they didn't have our preferred room type at first, they managed to get it for us!

“Cuba with Cosmos”

★★★★★

written by janeleaside on 07/03/2013

went on a tour of western cuba called 'Rhythms of Cuba'. Only had 7 people in our group plus a guide and driver.Starting in Havana, had a walking tour, stopped off in a tea shop then a bar to have our '1st mojito',our guide was a cuban, he showed us everything many things we would never have seen without him. Next day we went to Pinar del Río and the Viñales Valley, absolutely stunning scenery, something I was not expecting in Cuba(I don't know why) the rock formations are amazing. Next day we went to a village in a reserve,(bit like a national park)went paddling in a river and taken to a little cafe, more like someones home where we were treated to coffee made in the traditional way by a woman who seemed to be over a hundred years old! Then on different days went to Cienfuegos and Trinidad, inbetween going on a boat trip to a little island with a native village, going to a botanical garden, visiting a cigar factory, cannot describe how amazing everything was, bought lovely lace in Cienfuegos from the ladies with stalls everywhere, and cigars were cheaper here than at the factory. Last night and day was back in Havana, then all of our group spent 7 days on the beach in Varadero(in different hotels) All in all I saw a part of Cuba I did not realise was there, it was fascinating, I would love to do the trip again. I thought Cosmos organised the whole thing very well, the guide was just great always knew the best place for a mojito! , and the rep at the beach was there if and when you needed him and was very informative.

“Great Cosmos holiday in Sri Lanka”

★★★★★

written by on 07/03/2013

HAd a fantastic holiday in Sri Lanka with Cosmos. Everything went to plan - even enjoyed curry for breakfast, to do as the Sri Lankans do, though didn't eat with my hands as they do!! Did a tour for a week, and having a private driver was awesome, we saw so many hidden places and tried just about every fruit you can image much to Kumars amusement. Saw so many amazing sights, hotels were perfect, food excellent, a surprising amount of wildlife too, including wild elephants, giant bats, snakes, monitor lizards, so just all round brilliant. A week at the beach was the perfect unwind, the staff always friendly, room comfortable and clean and the food of course a big part of any holiday, was a great mix of local and international. Transfers to and from the airport all on time and the rep helpful for booking an extra excursion from Kalutara.

“Value for Money!”

★★★★☆

written by on 06/03/2013

Repeat customer with Cosmos however had never travelled to Sharm el Sheikh, which had been recommended by a freind. Flight was on time with freindly staff. After a short wait at the airport, the transfer was comfortable, although could of done with air conditioning. Hotel to a high standard and all staff were freindly and helpful, and for the price we paid for late deal it exceeded expectations, however food became repeatitive and not alot of choice for vegetarians. Holday rep visited only once, but was on call if needed. Just 1 week week was not long enough! Would definately go back and be keen to travel with Cosmos.

“Lapland Holiday 2012”

★★★★★

written by Jimbob2891 on 06/03/2013

My partner and I went to Lapland with Cosmos in December and we had the most amazing trip! Being children at heart we were in our element! The reps were so friendly and helpful and our hotel was immaculate. We got to go on a few taster trips, a reindeer ride, a husky ride and even got to drive a snowmobile all included in the price. We did however choose an extra trip which we had to pay for to try the snowmobiling again and it was worth every penny! We got to drive over a frozen lake, through a forest an experience we both will not be forgetting. Would defiantly recommend going to Lapland with Cosmos!

“Amazing trip to Parga”

★★★★★

written by on 25/02/2013

Travelled to Parga with Cosmos and could not have been better. Got a fantastic price, the flights and transfers were smooth and easy, and a great hotel (Salvator). Rep was on hand if we needed her, but she didn't bother us when we didn't. Couldn't fault a thing - would strongly recommend as brilliant value for money. We will be heading back to Greece this year, probably try one of the smaller islands.

“Great holiday to Tenerife”

★★★★★

written by on 21/02/2013

I had a great time in Tenerife this January and can't fault the experience from plane to hotel. The price was competitive and the hotel was exactly as stated on the website and I knew what to expect from the reviews on site. The only bad thing was the transfers were a little long but we were told this before. I would recommend them.

I have a generous baggage allowance for the air content of my holiday, [ 2 bags of 32kgs each] but the coach and rail part of my trip only allows 1 bag of 22 kgs. If I take two suitcases and a carry on bag will I be penalised by the company [ Cosmos} operating the land tour? Will they refuse to take my extra bag, or will I have to pay an excess? I need extra clothes to cover cold and hot climates.

Usually for long haul, the check in allowance is 20 kg, some airlines let you take two suitcases if there combined weight is 20kg eg. One at 15kg and one at 5kg. It is best to contact the airline to be sure. You can still take hand luggage as well. Happy hols
