“WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!”

I was offered a work experience placement on thomas cooks. You'd expect a very well reputed company to have some knowledge on how to deal with temporary members of staff even if it is just for 2 weeks! I was briefly shown around by the manager after first walking in and then never seen the managers face again! She sat me behind a desk with no work whatsoever so from 10am to 5.50pm o was sat behind a desk looking into blank space! No staff spoke to me or acknowledged me! I would like to make a complaint on the assistance I received from the assistant manager and the Colchester Thomas Cook branch. “Thomas Cook Won't Accept Their Own Travellers Cheques”

We came across some travellers cheques we had bought from Thomas Cook (admittedly quite some time ago). They were TCs own brand cheques in US Dollars ($870 worth). Since we now both OAPs it's unlikely that we'll visit the USA again because the travel insurance is prohibitive. No problem you'd have thought, just take them back to TC and change them back to pounds especially since on the back of the folder there's a statement saying that TC will buy back any unused cheques commission free! “Exchange rate scam”

In Thomas Cook's website there is just one exchange rate. However, is not clear that you have to reserve online in order to get this rate because if you don't and you go straight to the store you will get the worst exchange rate ever. Most of the time the food provided was horrible, specifically in Paris. Even the hospitality was at it's lowest in Paris restaurants. We were promised 4* hotels but many of them were not. Worst tour manager,poorest food outlets included in the itinerary. Poor lodging. This is the worst travel group. No one should take it. They only try to fool you with good names, but in the end they take you to the worst hotels and eating outlets, where tour guide and restaurant people misbehave and ill-treat group members. “Just book it, don't Thomas Cook it!”

Usually arrange our own holidays via the net. Had a fixed budget, fixed dates and very little time to book 2 short breaks due to pressure at work. Someone recommended Thomas Cook's bespoke package. Called in at a branch one Saturday. What a mistake! First problem. It took 2 hours to book both breaks but that was only because 2 of the staff did 1 each otherwise would have been in there for over 3 hours. Where to start!! From start to finish of our holiday Thomas Cook were absolutely shocking!! First time I have booked through them and will be the last. I booked a very expensive break for my son's 18th birthday - a one night stay in Manchester for my family of 4 and tickets to watch the Man U - Arsenal game. I agree. Thomas Cook don't care about * ratings. They sold me a hotel as 4* which was sub-budget standard. When I complained, they said I should have checked it myself on the net. I will in future, without their unnecessary involvement!
The Palace is huge. I suspect they couldn't get the price they offered you and sold you on rather than take the hit themselves.
Hope your son enjoyed the match!

Thomas cook customer service is awful, they are rude and arrogant. Customer service passing you on to someone else when you challenge them about anything. We have been disappointed with the car hire through Thomas Cook with Firefly who over charged us when collecting the car to include service charges and other fees that are compulsory to them. It's difficult to find words to describe how bad customer service is. I have lost my suitcase in June 2014 after a flight on Thomas Cook airplane. I flew to Mallorca and when i got off the airplane my suitcase never arrived. After having booked our package holiday I happened to read on a different website that our hotel has no lifts (not mentioned on the Thomas Cook website when booking nor in any of the small print). “Worst Travel Company”

I have been dealing with Thomas Cook since the return from my holiday at the Riadh Palms Hotel in Sousse, Tunisia on 11th March, 2015. Although in our 50's this was our honeymoon and having never been to Tunisia (this was my 39th holiday abroad)wanted to try somewhere different. With you all the way! Thomas Cook is completely unconcerned about * ratings and just shoves you where they can maintain their profit margin.
When I complained about them selling me a '4* hotel' that was no such thing, I was fobbed off, and when I said where could I have the decision reviewed they came back and said they had reviewed it and too bad, I should have checked for myself. Which rather undermines the idea of travel agents.
So sorry they ruined your honeymoon! Nightmare company to be avoided!

I have been forced to cancel my letter with Thomas Cook my distination was Hotel Vila Gale Nautico Portugal. Whilst the airlines were happy to take my portable dry cell buggy, the coach transferrers were not. I have to either cough up another £150.00- £200.00 for a private taxi or not go.
