    Having renewed our Standard 5C's insurance policy since purchasing our 2005 caravan from new, the first page of the insurance documentation always stated the sum insured. However, within the wording of the conditions, new for old cover is only available poviding the caravan is less than 3 years old. Despite the fact the sum insured is clearly shown giving you a sum to replace new for old and the premium is caculated on this basis. Beware, after the caravan is 3 years old you will not be covered on a new for old basis nor will you receive a refund for the premium you have been overcharged. The Caravan Club openly admit this is a problem with their automatic renewal system and the problem is known to them, but they will not budge on a refund of the excess premium charged even though they admit the premium has been calculated incorrectly. Luckily we have not made any claim, but I fear most people will only become aware of this problem when it's too late.
