“What a Joke and a RIP OFF!!”

Written on: 10/08/2016 by NIC132Caravan (1 review written)

I have been a memeber of the caravan club for 6 years and the last 5 years have taken my motorhome insurance with them, this on receipt of my renewal quote, they wanted me to renew and pay for the policy 10days prior, we phoned them and said we would be doing other quotes to compare, we were told at this time that the renewal would be cancelled, so we told them to go ahead, I then looked at other quotes and did a new quote with the Caravan Club to find it was 39.04 cheaper than my renewal so I… Read Full Review

“EXCELLET CLAIM SERVICE”

Written on: 05/04/2016 by BaileyUniMan (1 review written)

Made a claim for some damage to the offside of my Bailey Unicorn - the loss adjuster arrived at my home to inspect the van at my convenience without delay. He had a copy of the quote which had been provided by Lowdhams of Huddersfield and sent with the claim form - he inspected the van and confirmed verbally that he thought the claim was valid but would telephone me later that day with the definitive decision. Received the call the same day and caravan repaired at our convenience. Repairs… Read Full Review

“No problems”

Written on: 21/02/2016 by Elliotta473 (1 review written)

Cannot understand the reviews. we have been with the club for seven years and never had a problem. Phone answered promptly and staff always polite and helpful. We had problem with caravan no longer being made and they were happy to discuss a suitable alternative. We had one claim dealt with efficiently and fairly with an exemplary service. Cover is wider than any other I have seen and competitive price rather than cheapest. Cannot believe the other reviews on here and reviews on forums make it… Read Full Review

“Terrible customer service”

Written on: 20/11/2015 by McGraw318 (1 review written)

The caravan club are only happy when they are taking their huge fees from you and heaven help you if you want to relocate your caravan abroad. Won't even provide cover whilst you are in the process of taking your caravan abroad, let aloan it being stored there. We have been caravan club customers for 10 years but that appears to mean nothing. The customer service assistant rude and unhelpful… Read Full Review

“Motorhome Insurance - Hindsight is wonderful”

Written on: 05/09/2015 by YazminHickman (1 review written)

Although the call centre responds to enquiries and is very quick to take the money the follow-up is non-existent unless you keep calling them. I moved house, told everyone concerned and even received an email to confirm that my details had been amended. My motorhome renewal did not arrive, nor did it arrive at my old address, but the renewal premium was taken from my account. After calling a cover note for the last few days on my old policy was sent out by post but there is no sign of the new… Read Full Review

“Changing insurance”

Written on: 18/08/2015 by ohndoje (1 review written)

Sold our motorhome and bought a caravan, Phoned to cancel motorhome insurance and insure caravan, two different departments, have to cancel motorhome and go elsewhere for caravan, o.k. Then informed there is a cancellation charge on motorhome!! Get quotes from CC for caravan, considering, then receive slightly threatening demand from CC for just under £14.00 to cancel the motorhome insurance which had about a month to run!!!!! This to my mind is a totally unjustified charge, the on risk for… Read Full Review

“Poor service, avoid.”

Written on: 18/04/2015 by Genesisc15 (1 review written)

I purchased a policy on line with The Caravan Club and on receiving the documents by email I was requested to provide them with proof of no claims discount. I did this by return and asked for acknowledgement of receipt. I got an automated receipt of my email but I heard nothing else. I sent two further emails asking for acknowledgement, nothing. Two weeks later I received a letter telling me they hadn't had the required documents and the policy would cancel in five days time. I phoned them and… Read Full Review

“Totally misleading web site and proposal process”

Written on: 01/08/2014 by MalcNuneaton (1 review written)

Having had our Motorhome Insurance with Saga for many years, upon receipt of a very friendly letter from the Caravan Club thanking us for 20 years of membership and offering us "the best motorhome insurance" we decided to get a quote we went through the web site and got a quote which was £25.01 less than our current insurers and with apparently better cover. When I sent the NCD proof they told be they would not give me protected NCD and would only give me like for like insurance, despite… Read Full Review

“7 months to pay!!!”

Written on: 24/05/2014 by Elsie-May (1 review written)

Our caravan was stolen after only owning for 1 month - the caravan club were recommended to us by a few people. We had to wait, wait, wait and mither and mither. The lady on the other end of the phone was very unhelpful - we eventually got our money back but we have not insured our new caravan with them… Read Full Review

“Terrible service ”

Written on: 25/02/2014

We have just made a claim on theft damage to our caravan and it has so far taken six weeks and we are still no closer to a resolution. They are now claiming that we 'over insured' our van despite the fact that I can not get a caravan of that age for less than what I paid ( it is a 1992 bailey discovery 4 berth and we insured it for £1000) they have offered me half its value which is totally unacceptable as I could never replace it for £500. I have found all involved to be rude and the… Read Full Review

“Poor Service - Avoid like the Plague”

Written on: 30/07/2013 by Dancingwilldoit (1 review written)

I have just had the pleasure of having to make a claim on my 5C's Insurance for total loss of our caravan which was stolen 4 weeks ago. Firstly if you are insured with them make sure you dont have your van stolen on a Friday evening. They only work 9-5 Monday to Friday !! Secondly when you do finally get through on the phone, don't believe them when they say they will send you a claim form in the post. One week later I had received nothing and when I rang the broker they said "Oh we dont post… Read Full Review

“Terrible customer service - Caravan Club Motorhome...”

Written on: 26/07/2013 by Barrie45 (1 review written)

I would definitely not recommend the Caravan Club Insurance for motorhome insurance due to their poor customer service, poor opening hours, a call back service that they don't call you back on and misleading information (in my opinion) on their policies. I would first like to say that I believe that the company that operates the mororhomes policies service for the Caravan Club is different to the one that operates the Caravan Insurance. However I would warn anyone thinking of starting a new… Read Full Review

Philln's Comment

Had a similar experience. Booked and Paid insurance online quoting a quote I'd had from another company as my best quote. Anyway it turns out that that section was just for quotes from your current insurer . I found this out after phoning for a cover note and was then told they couldn't insure me unless I paid another £400 as that was now the best price they could offer. Needless to say I cancelled and will now go with the original best quote I had . Was very disappointed as you'd expect better from the caravan club.

“Hiding behing the fine print....”

Written on: 13/04/2012

Just like the previous reviewer, I had the similar problem about their 'new for old' policy. But get this - they know how old your caravan is when you insure with them, BUT if you don't tell them it's older than 3 years (the cut-off point for new for old) then they'll still happily charge you the (higher) new-for-old rate!! Avoid them like the plague. There are cheaper insurers out there… Read Full Review

“Having renewed our Standard 5C's insurance policy...”

Written on: 28/10/2009 by camlyd (1 review written)

Having renewed our Standard 5C's insurance policy since purchasing our 2005 caravan from new, the first page of the insurance documentation always stated the sum insured. However, within the wording of the conditions, new for old cover is only available poviding the caravan is less than 3 years old. Despite the fact the sum insured is clearly shown giving you a sum to replace new for old and the premium is caculated on this basis. Beware, after the caravan is 3 years old you will not be covered… Read Full Review

Guest's Response to camlyd's Review

My friend is currently trying to get a claim paid out. It has now been 18 weks and they are still arguing. I think next year I will not be insuring with the caravan club insurance. The whole point of insurance is that if something horrible happens you get paid out, not have to go through further trauma only to be told no.
