I would suggest you read the policy wording from any insurance company. No company can be blamed because you dont read your terms and conditions. Stop moaning and make sure YOU take out the policy that is the correct cover for you.

Considering that 96% of customers of this insurer would not recommend it to anyone else, a further negative review is perhaps unnecessary. But E&L -- which describes itself as "a niche insurer" -- is so shambolic an outfit, a further wqarning to everyone to stay well clear of it is justified. In our case, as static 'van newbies, we took out an annual policy with the company and thought no more about it. And fortunately (unlike so many others here) we had a claim-free year. At renewal time, however,...

Dear Travelog9

You are correct in that we do have two sites that sell caravan insurance
online, we have never tried to hide it. As you can see on both sites, on the
bottom of each page who owns the sites. The reason for this is that in the
main, we market the brands in two different areas. We are very proud of the
customer service we provide to customers of both sites and as you can see
from the majority of the feedback our customers really appreciate it.

Over the last 18 months our sites have been the only true online comparison
sites for caravan insurance both having a number of different insurers and
policies, because of this they are normally very competitive which is why
hundreds of people buy their caravan insurance through them every month.

You say our quotation was very uncompetitive, which is very unusual. If you
would like to contact me at info@insuremycaravan.co.uk, I would be very
pleased to look into what happened in your case.

Have just tried to make a claim on our caravan insurance following an accident only to discover that we don't have cover for accidental damage. Time & time again people do not select the correct cover. YOU decide which cover to take out. INSURANCE COMPANIES CAN NOT SELL YOU A POLICY OVER THE PHONE. If you are unable to read the security requirements and put them in place you deserve to loose £13,000! Put it down to an expensive learning curve and comply with security requirements, that way you may get paid out next time.Insurance companies are not charities.

Sorry to see you are having problems with this company as we are. I implore you to seek another company fr your caravan insurance.
We unfortunately insured our caravan with E & L Insurance. It was stolen September 2008 & was reported to the police immediately. We give the police the locks which the thieves had burned off & provided a statement . We did everything E & L asked us to do like, send photographs, receipts & statement. The loss adjuster came to see us & said it was a straight forward case, that was months ago!!!!!!
I hope you get sorted. Happy caravanning.
My husband has phoned E & L many times and they have fobbed us off repeatedly.
It is now 8 months without a caravan & still we are being fobbed off!!!!
Throughout this 8 month period we have had ONE letter to keep us informed as to where the case is at.
PLEASE CHANGE YOUR INSURERS.
WE HAVE RESULTED TO GOING TO THE OMBUSMAN REGARDING OUR CLAIM.
They like to take your premiums every month but don't like to do anything for it, should the worse happen.

Started off by being the cheapest monthly caravan insurer we found on the internet. Then not long after we started policy they wrote to say it was going up by £1 or £2 for a 'better policy'. They did this at least 3 times over the year! So look out for this as it will probably work out the dearest. Also they take 'lunar month' payments, ie. every 28 days, which is 13 payments per year.
