We used to link to E&L a number of years ago as they paid excellent referral commission. Following a deluge of complaints about them we withdrew all links and mention of the company from our web site.
Recently we have been receiving demands for payment from them. Goodness knows why and they will neither answer emails nor phone calls.
Needles to say we are neither paying these random invoices nor recommending them at any time in the future.

E&L Insurance are nothing but con artists. they take your money and do not tell you that you are not covered until after you have made a claim. I insured my caravan and paid extra for contents/accessories and they accepted my list of extras including my brand new awning.
I made a claim for storm damage to my awning and it took four weeks to get through to them, and that was by Email. I was told I was not covered even though I had the top policy which included cover for storm damage to my awning ...

I bought our first caravan last summer (2008) and shopped around the internet for insurance. We went with E&L. Foolishly I had unhitched the caravan and did not pull the handbrake on fully to its verticle position. It rolled forward and hit a wall causing minor damage to the front panel. I faxed off my claim form in order to speed things along and posted the original that day. A month later no progress so I phoned them and by a funny coincidence they had waited to take this years premium and th ...

I wish I read the reviews before taking out insurance with them.
Last year I bought a new caravan and like most people I searched the internet for the best insurance quote. E&L was the cheapest and the most responsive. As my policy is now due for rewal and have not yet received their new offer I contacting them for their quote for this year, I have found it to be 85 pounds more expensive, about 40% more. The customer services said that they will send me out my re-quote, this was today. I have ju ...

E&L Caravan Insurance told me I could get my window repaired at the place where I had just bought it brand new then, two months later, said I had to go to a certain dealer to have it done. They also said my excess was doubled because I was an inexperienced tower (was in the conditions - somewhere!) which meant they would only pay £30 of a £280 claim. The people that sold me the caravan are a well established company and could not believe they had done that. Cancelled insurance and ...

Tried on numerous occasions to contact claims department by e-mail & phone with absolutely no success. We actually thought the company had ceased trading at one point.Eventually cancelled the policy and took our losses.

Started off by being the cheapest monthly caravan insurer we found on the internet. Then not long after we started policy they wrote to say it was going up by £1 or £2 for a 'better policy'. They did this at least 3 times over the year! So look out for this as it will probably work out the dearest.
Also they take 'lunar month' payments, ie. every 28 days, which is 13 payments per year. Again, look out as two premiums will come out in one pay-month!
Have just checked out quote for a b ...

I think We should all get together and email BBC Watchdog, as all the stories are the same. Do they ever pay any claim quickly.
If anyone interested in contacting Watchdog as I think they will sort it out. I think this is a big enough story for them.

We extended our cover at extra expense to include our awning for damage, theft etc, only to find when a claim was made against our awning for storm damage ,they ducked out saying storm damage to a awning was not covered and "didn't I read my policy properly", this was stated in micro print, although the awning was covered for "damage".
I've later made another claim for a broken window and after paying upfront for the repairs (Over £350) two months later am still waiting for a cheque, (t ...

In view of the comments made by former policy holders with regard to settling claims for stolen caravans I find myself very insecure about my policy. My caravan is worth in excess of £14000 so I have to be careful - I shall not be renewing my policy with this company and would suggest that any prospective customer thinks twice. I have just received my new premium figure and it has doubled even though I have not made a claim.

Although I answered all questions asked of me when I applied online, it was never suggested to me that the place of storage was unsatisfactory, or that as the caravan was worth over £5,000, I should have an alarm fitted, (there were plenty of other security devices fitted). To my cost, this was all in the small print. From personal experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

We had our caravan stolen in May this year, 5 months later
E&L Caravan Insurance decided to inform me that the place I stored it was not secure enough, bearing in mind that when I bought the caravan and moved it into storage I described the place and told them that there was no CCTV and lockable gate on site. Their response was that we were fully covered as in the small print it states that the caravan can be stored at another persons place of residence as long as they knew about it and the ...

Unfortunately, I didn't search for reviews before taking out this policy with E&L. Similar to so many of the pet reviews on this site with E&L, the same must be said for their caravan insurance. They had no problems with providing me with insurance from the details I gave them. I paid my premiums every year. However when it came to them settling a claim when my caravan was stolen and recovered trashed, they said that the compound it was stolen from was not secure enough, despite it having a ...
